What goes around – Comes Around – Now what do I do?

As sellers, we all have a “blocked” bidders list. I just got a message from one of my blocked bidders asking why he is blocked and why he can’t buy my items. What would you do? Respond, what would you say? Just ghost them? The blocked buyer is also a seller, so they know the ropes. Has anyone had this experience before? Sort of looking for suggestions. Certainly don’t want to sell to him again – soooo much trouble before – that’s why he got blocked. Hard to believe a seller would be such a @%&# to another seller. Ideas?

I would ghost him.  If you know what item it is that he’s interested in purchasing, you might think about ending that listing for awhile and putting it back up in a month or waiting even longer.  I’ve done this before to prevent a problem buyer from causing me future problems.

Understood. But without a response, he’ll move on. Just delete the messages without reading them.

Do you have the option on to block messages from blocked users?

No, I don’t think so – that would make real sense… once a buyer is blocked they should be blocked from messages also! But as we know Ebay doesn’t think of everything!

There is a way to block messages from blocked buyers, but I had a rep help me with it. Not sure if there is a way to do it yourself — possibly buried in Site Preferences.

Hey WBird – thanks for the info! I found out how! I think I did it… I am going to relist the interested item and hopefully the blocked buyer won’t be able to contact me! I think it removes the “contact” buyer button on the listings for the blocked buyer. We will see!

This is how I did it…Click on “Account” in your My eBay then click on “Site Preferences”, scroll down until you see “Buyer Requirements”, click “Edit”, scroll down to the last option, and click to block members who are on your blocked bidder list from contacting you.

That’s great, @Choppsshop! Just a caution, people will check out under another ID or Guest account if they know you are blocking them. Taking the item down is still a really good idea.
