In the summer update a couple of months ago, they said that they were going to be automatically accepting more returns.
https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/seller-updates/2018-summer/simplified-returns.html
“When do return requests qualify for automatic acceptance?
To qualify for automatic acceptance, return requests must meet all of these criteria:Requests meet your listing returns policy
The return is domestic and will be shipped within the US
The return is not an exchange or replacement request”good tip – thanks!
Glad to hear that the Walgreens FedEx option worked well for you. I’m looking forward to using it at some point, too, since it’s basically enabling me to use FedEx as an option at all. The nearest walgreens is about 30 miles from where I live, but it’s somewhere I happen to go every Saturday, so it’s almost free mileage-wise. I just set a 5-day handling time for items that have FedEx ground as an option. The nearest FedEx dropoff (for home/ground) is 25 miles away, but completely out of the way of my regular routine, so I just haven’t offered FedEx until now.
Yes, I live in a rural area. I keep planning to investigate the FedEx pickup option, but never get around to it.
gorgeous pieces!
That consignment shop setup sounds great. Wish I had something like that near me.
The links stopped working right around the time I tried out the new gmail UI and then switched back to the old one. I just now tried going back to the new one, and the links are clickable again. So I guess I’ll keep using the new UI, which I supposed I may have been forced to do eventually anyway.
Thanks Sharyn. I guess I’ll have to try to figure out what’s going wrong on my end. ugh.
08/28/2018 at 10:37 pm in reply to: Question on the Hassle Free returns and Supporting Photos on a Return #48135Before today, I would have just said ask for photos, accept the return, issue the label, and dispute amount of refund later. But I just dealt with another FINAD where the rep told me that b/c I issued the return shipping label voluntarily (ie, not waiting for ebay to issue it for me), they cannot refund me the return shipping. But he did say that I didn’t have to refund original shipping. Also, b/c the return comments showed that the reason had to do with color, I didn’t bother asking for photos – I mean, how are photos going to show anything but the obvious, that the color of an item looks different in different lighting? Anyway, that was a mistake. So from now on I’m going to ask for photos on color FINADs as well. It just seems to me that the INAD situation is getting worse – everytime i call in, the process is slightly or very different from the last time. I mean, this guy even told me it would be best if I hadn’t voluntarily accepted the return at all! Crazy.
So in addition to always asking for photos, I think that now I will resume my previous practice of calling ebay at every single step in the FINAD return process.
Sorry Mike, I wish I had had better advice for you.
08/28/2018 at 2:09 pm in reply to: Where Is The "Ship From" Option On The New Shipping Page?! #48105I sometimes drop off at a different post office than my home zip code as well. I actually asked a few times if that was a problem, and they always said no problem. And one time they told me “it’s totally fine – both post offices will get credit for the package.” Yet another case of different stories from different PO’s, I guess.
08/27/2018 at 9:37 pm in reply to: Question on the Hassle Free returns and Supporting Photos on a Return #48080I think it’s a good idea to ask customers to send photos b/c even though ebay will eventually accept the return on your behalf, then if you receive the item back and there is nothing wrong with it and you call ebay to appeal the return reason, you can show ebay that you gave the buyer a chance to show you what was wrong with the item.

What’s “My ebay > Selling”? Do some sellers have a dashboard that is different from Seller Hub?

I sold a shirt to The Goldbergs and two vases/lamps to A Series of Unfortunate Events. This is where I would try auction kenny’s approach. I would do an auction starting at $750 or $1000. If it doesn’t sell, then list at the same price as fixed price + best offer.
Thanks all for your input. It’s interesting to see the different approaches.
Hi Cindy. Welcome! I just glanced through your store, and your prices didn’t seem overly low to me. The only thing I would have priced higher is the black rotary phone you sold, based on the fact that the sell-through rate on these things seems to be high (15 sold in the last 3 months, and only 10 for sale now). I think you may just want to target higher-value items when you are scavenging.
Just a little suggestion while I’m at it. You might try adding “vintage” or “vtg” as a keyword in the title to this item:

Apologies if my unsolicited feedback is also unwanted!
