Ok – good to know that it’s not just me. I wasn’t sure if maybe it was some browser issue on my computer. thanks. Now I can go back to ignoring it ๐
08/01/2018 at 5:16 pm in reply to: Ebay agrees it's buyer's remorse but wants me to return shipping? #46650In my experience, if the return reason is item not as described, then they get original shipping back automatically. But then after the refund is done, you can call ebay to appeal.

on that “all returns” page where you are seeing zero returns, there’s a bar at the top with options like “open returns”, etc – if you scroll to the right select “closed returns” and then you’ll see all your returns.Another factor to consider is how badly do you want to be rid of this watch (or not)? Will it sell again quickly for big money (especially now that it’s repaired)? If so, accept the return as Amatino suggests. Or has it been sitting around for a while with little interest and isn’t going to make you much money anyway? In that case, I would do the partial return just to be rid of it. BUT, if you do decide to do the partial return, I would call ebay first re: how to go about doing it, since the ebay website no longer provides the option of doing a partial return in response to a return request. Yes, you can do the partial return via paypal, but the ebay website may still continue to wait for you to accept the return, or, as it did to me yesterday, return the rest of the amount automatically “for you.”

That is a great idea – thanks for sharing! I think I may start doing that.Great buy and sale of those crafter die cut thingies!
There IS a way to dispute an INAD. I just did it today. It’s called the Appeals Department. I wouldn’t call it a “solid process”, but there is a way to do it that works most of the time, though definitely not all.
But the OP didn’t mention that this was an INAD situation. The problem here is receiving an item back that is not in its original condition, which is a completely different problem. I haven’t experienced this ever myself, but I believe that the return policy states that the item must be returned in original condition. SO there should be a way for seller to issue a partial refund instead of a full one. But I don’t think there is such a way anymore. I just read
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/managing-returns-refunds/handling-return-requests?id=4115and clothing and shoes are not listed in the list of categories that support partial refunds for items returned not in the original condition.
If it were me, I would just keep calling ebay about this, assuming that I had before and after photos to back up my claim that the shoes were used by the buyer.

Yes you can, but then ebay may automatically refund the rest of the amount a while later. That is exactly what happened to me today. I refunded $30 at 3pm (after receiving the item back in the mail), and then ebay refunded an additional $20 a few hours later. I just called them again and got connected to the appeals department, who luckily sided with me and gave me back the shipping costs $20.Eek.
Thanks for the heads up.Sharyn,
Thanks for the tip. I checked my account activity, and I do see there is a credit for $42, and I think they came up with that number by multiplying the number of listings in my store (I had around 420 over the past month) times 10 cents (I have a premium store, so 10 cents is the cost of extra listings). I guess that pays for the couple of hours I spent re-uploading photos, so in the end it worked out okay for me.07/24/2018 at 10:26 pm in reply to: Problem with ebay combining shipping on flat rate envelopes/boxes. #46077My understanding is that combined shipping discounts and flat rate boxes just don’t work together well, as you have experienced. I think this may be one of the reasons that J & R don’t provide any up-front combined shipping discount, but rather refund the buyer later if there is a big difference in what they paid vs. what it cost to ship. I myself also do not offer any up-front discount, particularly now that ebay is auto-combining orders. Have not yet encountered a case where I felt the discrepancy was so big that I wanted to refund the buyer anything.
Wish I had a better answer. Maybe someone else will!
I didn’t get it.
Just reached another Scavenger Life milestone: my first “Will it fit me?” message from a buyer!
LOL. I have to say that when Jay and Ryanne mentioned such messages from time to time, I of course believed them, but at the same time found it hard to believe that someone would send such a message. Not anymore! In this case, I was asked to determine fit of a unisex shirt based on height and neck size – lol. I gave them the standard reply of “check measurements in listing against your own clothing that fits”.

Update on original post:
I called ebay today b/c the automated system was still waiting for me to issue a return label. The rep I spoke with today told me that the previous rep I spoke to a few days ago was incorrect. Meaning, the process for dealing with invalid INADS is still exactly what I thought it was before: you have to issue the return shipping label, and call ebay to dispute everything once you receive the item back. So, I’ve paid for the label. I always hate doing that, but it kinda feels like good news to hear that the process hasn’t actually changed. But also bad news that there continues to be no shortage of reps who don’t know the proper way to handle these things.Ugh.
