That state + percentage feature has been there for a while. If ebay collects sales tax automatically for your state, you can leave those blank. Those are only for states where you have to collect the taxes yourself. But if you have something in there, I think ebay just ignores it if it collects for your state.
Unfortunately, for my state I still have to keep filing $0 sales tax returns, but luckily it’s pretty easy.
10/22/2019 at 12:22 am in reply to: eBay Not Collecting Sales Tax When It Says It Will & Partial Return Glitches #69404What I do when I want to check is go to “Paid and Shipped” orders, and then click on “download report” on the right side of the screen. You’ll get a spreadsheet of all your orders in the last 90 days, and column AC shows how much tax ebay collected for each transaction. For me, there are so many more line items showing a non-zero tax collected by ebay compared to 4 months ago when I last checked – which makes sense.
BTW, Marushka is back, this time with their ready-to-wear line 🙂
https://marushka.com/about-usI showed up to yoga class one night recently and was stunned to see my teacher wearing a brand new shirt with a pretty design with that unmistakable Marushka signature. https://marushka.com/shop/marushka-designs/poppies.html
She had received it as a gift and had no idea of the history, despite being older than me.“I just got new batch of required item specifics “recommendations””
Where are you seeing these recommendations? Is it in the “Growth” section that someone mentioned earlier? I am seeing absolutely no recommendations there wrt item specifics, which is strange, b/c when I go to edit a sweater listing from a month ago, the new required (starred) “Size” item specific is blank. That’s true for many of my 400+ listings. This particular sweater is coming up in search.
Why would they add a *new* Size item specific? What was wrong with the old one? If they wanted it to be mandatory, why not just make the existing one mandatory?
As far as the bajillion other new item specifics (luckily non-mandatory) – gradual rollout (usually best practice in most situations) of a few at a time might have been more sensible than a big dump.
I’m still following the “wait and see” approach. Hope the waiting is going to end soon and that we’ll then see something good 🙂
but only if you call (in my experience).
Welcome!
gfd, when you said “clay pots”, that made me think of those african conical cooking pots, which I now know are called tagines. Could these be lids for small copper serving tagines? (cooking tagines need a hole in the top for steam to escape – something else I’ve just learned :))

Seems like a stretch, but thought I’d throw it out there as a possibility.
Makes sense, thanks.
This here is an interesting corner case. The buyer opened the return AND shipped off the item back within the 30 day return window, but what if the seller does not receive the item back within the 30 day window? (That other 5 day window is meaningless). That is the question of the OP as I understand it, and I’m very curious as to the answer as far as ebay policy goes. As for me, if it arrives just a few days past the end of the window I would probably just refund. But what if it arrives 1 month late? Since I just recently had a package take a month to get to Florida and the buyer never complained (I just randomly noticed it myself), I’d probably also refund then, but it would be nice to know whether I’m really obliged to do so or not.
“PLs don’t really make sense in any search order other than Best Match. The fact that ebay sticks them in search orders such as “lowest first” is an issue,”
I agree. I find this really annoying as both a buyer and a seller.
I ran into this issue a few times. I just added “#1” and “#2” to the title.
Or maybe “A” and “B” – can’t remember exactly. It worked fine.Good point.
If it’s available via the API, maybe store backup/download is tool that the guy running flippertools.com would be interested in building, providing there’s a way in the API to authenticate ebay users – I wouldn’t want to make it super easy for everybody to download my listings.
Congratulations! That is awesome. Enjoy your new life!
That’s interesting that for Guaranteed Delivery you can turn off automatic acceptance of returns but you can’t do that if you don’t use GD (unless you want to use RMA #’s (or pretend to)). I wonder whether, if you use RMA #’s, you get the option (like you used to do for every return) of just letting buyer keep the item or offering a partial refund. So many different feature/option combinations to try to keep track of. :\
At any rate, when I used to have NON-automated returns, it worked fine. No issues with sales or buyers. In case that helps the OP.
