welcome!
My thinking echoes simplicio’s, though he puts it more eloquently that I could.
I’ve got a handful of those hardcore survivor items myself that have successfully evaded purchase for several years. One just sold recently, but was then returned! argh! ๐

Yes, I know about the links to get back to the orders page, and I use those quite a bit. In fact, in order to go anywhere I need to go, i have to click on that first, and then select which My eBay section I’m looking for. I’m speaking about the situation where I don’t want to go back to the orders page, but rather want to navigate to My eBay or anything in that dropdown like I can do from any other page.11/08/2019 at 6:15 pm in reply to: What should eBay do to build seller trust in the eBay marketplace? #70370Publish list of issues/bugs that are being worked on with latest status (Jay’s favorite request). These should be large and small issues. For large issues, take the example of the recent new Size item specific debacle. The last update on this topic 2 weeks ago says that they will be copying over the size value from the old item specific to the new item specific. I checked my listings, and that hasn’t happened to my listings yet. So I’m left wondering – are they really doing it? Or did they just link the new Size IS to the old Size IS somehow so that no copying is needed? In other words, what am I supposed to think when I see listings of mine where the copying hasn’t been done? Is it still going to be done or has the plan changed? If the plan has changed, will I have to do the copying myself in the future? If they published an update saying “we are done with the copying” or “we expect all the copying to be done by <date>”, that would be super helpful.

For example, instead of the vague “In states where eBay is required to collect Internet Sales Tax from buyers, order totals sent for processing will reflect the gross order amount inclusive of tax” coming out on the exact day that the new software goes live, put out an announcement a week beforehand that says:
“On Nov 4th, you will see the following changes
1) In each PayPal transaction, you will see the Sales Tax listed, and the sales tax will be included as part of the PP fee calculation”. If you use ebay Managed Payments, the sales tax will/will not be included in the transaction fee calculation.
2)

If you’re on facebook, I suggest contacting the FB for Business page. Typically get better answers there for stuff like this.

Share below! #70303This is a very minor issue overall, but super annoying to me and should be trivial to fix. Can they please put a link to “My Ebay” on the shipping labels pages? Everywhere you go on the site, you always have “My Ebay” available to click on to get back to your main dashboard. But not on the shipping labels pages – specifically the one where you select the shipping label you will buy, and, more importantly, the screen that comes after that, after you’ve purchased the label and may be done with shipping and want to go back to My Ebay (Seller Hub).
Looking forward to hearing about this project as it progresses.
11/07/2019 at 1:51 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 435: List and Forget, Still Works For Us #70276I don’t end and re-list very often, but when I do, I also use “sell similar”. Typically I do this seasonally – refreshing all sweaters and boots at the beginning of October, say.
Thanks for the tip, Old Dad. Something for me to research further, but at least now i have hope! ๐
Yup, it’s the sales tax ebay collected. As of today GoDaddy has started putting them in a Sales Tax Submitted category, so the onus of re-categorizing countless of these line items is just for the last couple of days of transactions. Good on GoDaddy for fixing this so quickly.
When I switched from inkjet to a Brother laser printer for labels, I thought that there would be no problem with ink running (as Steve describes above), so I was initially thrilled. But with the laser printed label, when you run your hand across it to affix it, and when it rubs against other packages, the printing fades really quickly – does anybody else have that problem? I’ve been putting clear shipping tape on top of the bar code and addresses as a workaround – anybody else find themselves having to do this?
I have the Brother HL-L2340DW

That’s a really good question – my guess is that since they have it in a separate field now, they’ll keep it separate from income come tax time. If not, they and/or ebay are going to have a HUGE problem on their hands in Jan/Feb with thousands of sellers complaining. Of course it will be a problem for us, too, but not one that will take up much time – just calling to complain, and subtracting out the total sales tax from income when filing our taxes.“How much could you get per yard? If its $10 or less, seems better to sell as a lot. If more, maybe its worth selling by the yard.”
This advice is very timely for me – thanks Jay!
I’ve purchased some rolls of fabric and the one I did sell as a complete roll was a bear to handle while packing, and other rolls are getting interest/watchers but no sales. So now I think I’m probably going to change up and re-list the high end belgian linen by the yard, and the cheaper stuff in several-yard pieces (eg 6 yards for $30).The situation on GoDaddy Bookkeeping has improved somewhat. While the Name field is still “Unknown” and the Description field is an unreadable alphanumeric string, the line item is being put in the Business Expense category called “Sales Tax Submitted”.
