Are there any regions NOT sold out of hand sanitizer in brick and mortar stores?
I’m planning on making my own – apparently it’s pretty easy with aloe vera gel and rubbing alcohol.03/06/2020 at 12:16 am in reply to: Vintage appliance cord, Electra guitar, Record stand, Slide rule, Playing cards #74802This week I thought I’d share some sales over the last year of mugs and cups. Most if not all of these I did okay to very well on. The ones that were bad buys or super long tail are still unsold – maybe I’ll share those at some point when I decide to take them down and re-donate or they sell. Same caveat as Jay and Ryanne always say: I’m very picky about what I will pick up, and sometimes they take a really really long time to sell.
Swid Powell (post modern designers) red ribbon AIDS awareness mug from the 1990s. Just one of those things where as soon as you touch it you can feel the better quality. Purchased for $1. Sold for $30 after 10 months.
My first and so far only Taylor & Ng “naughty” bears mug. 1970s-ish. Purchased for $1. Sold in 4 months for $20 – had a crack in the handle.
Huge 18 oz Pendleton mug in like new condition. Thought I would do much better on this one than I did. Purchased for 50c. Sold for $15 in 1.5 years.
Anthropologie “Homegrown” e monogram mug. Purchased for $1. Sold for $20 in 6 weeks.
Anthropologie “Gloriosa” mug. Purchased for $2. Sold for $20 in 2 weeks despite a crack on the inside.
Woolrich bear mug. Purchased for $1. Sold for $20 in 2 months.
OK, that’s probably enough mugs for now. I’ll share some more in the future. They don’t bring in tons of money, but I mainly choose ones that I enjoy having for some time and then letting go.
I’ve seen search results like this before, fairly recently.
thanks for the tip!
I avoid an INDAD on my seller record.
How do you do that? In my experience, once the INAD is opened, even if ebay agrees with you and the buyer changes their mind on the INAD, there’s really no way to take it out of the data that goes into Service Metrics. I had a INAD in my service metrics for an entire year(!!!) that was just b/c the buyer thought that I hadn’t included the belt for a jacket they purchased. They later somehow found the belt and the case was closed, but it stayed on my record.

02/27/2020 at 1:35 pm in reply to: What to watch today: Dow to drop into correction as global coronavirus concerns #74504Pretty much all clothing sold in the US is made in China. If that supply line is cut off, couldn’t that lead to more sales of used clothing?
02/27/2020 at 1:32 pm in reply to: What to watch today: Dow to drop into correction as global coronavirus concerns #74503I think that’s why it is generally recommended that seniors have an asset allocation that is much lower in stocks than that of younger folks.

A big thank you to Sharyn (at least I think it was Sharyn) for alerting me to the popularity of the Dansk Ivy china pattern. I purchased 6 dinner plates for about $6.50. Sold a lot of 2 for $50 (took 6 months) and a lot of 4 for $110 (took 10 months). I’m still confused as to why some of them had a Limoges marking in addition to Dansk.
I love buying bennington pottery items when I can find them. Paid $1 for this sugar and it sold in 2 weeks for $40. Not all of their items sell this well, but they always sell.
Weird long bill hat by J Peterman. Purchased for $3 at Goodwill, sold in less than 2 months for $50.
As the clothing reseller youtubers say, I purchased this Penny Lane style coat b/c of style only – the brand Giacca is nothing special. $3 at an independent thrift. Sold for $62 in a few weeks.
The salvation army I go to switched their pricing policy around about a year ago and went back to low prices. So even though things move pretty quickly and the store is now much emptier (in terms of merchandise), I can find some good picks from time to time, like this Kuhl jacket for $7, which sold in 2 weeks for $70.
02/26/2020 at 2:04 pm in reply to: ebay Spring Seller Update is this Wed Feb 26, Town Hall Feb 25 #74433never mind, I read it wrong. I should have grouped “tracking that proves shipment” as the thing that needs to be provided in 3 days rather than “tracking” being the thing that proves “shipment was was not provided”.
02/26/2020 at 2:00 pm in reply to: ebay Spring Seller Update is this Wed Feb 26, Town Hall Feb 25 #74432Does anybody know what the middle of this sentence means?
In addition, we may decide a case in a buyer’s favor without requiring the buyer to contact eBay if tracking that proves shipment of the item was not provided by the seller within 3 business days after an “Item not received” case was opened.
What does it mean for a seller to provide shipment?
From this page:
https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/seller-updates/2020-spring/service.htmlI think you guys are right about it being a spool for yarn or something like that – thanks for the additional input!
02/23/2020 at 9:30 pm in reply to: VIDEO: How younger people are buying clothes at second hand shops #74302Anybody else catch the short clip of that Depop seller actually writing out a buyer’s address *by hand* with a sharpie on a polymailer? What is that about? And they make fun of ebay being old school…
I really have a sense that I’ve seen more of these things around, so hopefully when people start getting more active on the forum tomorrow, somebody in the SL hive mind will clue me in.
Oh, I forgot to mention that there’s a patent number on the bottom, but the first few numbers of it have faded, so there’s no way to look it up. So that points to (semi) mass production or at least not a OOAK item.
