Steve – When you talked about your buyer of the “reactor” being from Italy, and saying that he probably already had his flux capacitor, I was thinking of the corona virus. Maybe he is planning to prevent that from happening 🙂

I recently purchased a number of scales/balances at an auction. Most are pretty old, but this triple beam Ohaus scale is one of the newer ones. It sold in just a few hours, so I can’t help but think I underpriced it at $22. I paid about $3.

Steve sold a peanuts bobblehead not too long ago, and I sold one too! I got it for free from one of my parents’ downsizing friends, and it sold for $27.

I sold another Zenith Trans Oceanic radio that I was unable to test. I’ve ordered a power adapter so that I can test the one last remaining one without a battery compartment. Maybe I should have done that in the first place. I paid about $3, and it sold for $46.

At the same auction as the scales, I purchased a box lot with a bunch of vintage stuff. It came with a box of ephemera, which had a paperback booklet from 1924 called “The Laws of Ma Chiang”. Ends up that this was what Mahjong was first called in the US, and they held a few conferences in late 1923 to come up with standard rules of the game. The only thing similar I could find on the internet was a hardback book (different, but same subject & year) on sale for $300 on a fancy auction website. I listed mine for $78 or best offer. The next morning, I had an offer for $55, and we agreed on $65. Considering everything I bought in that auction bid, I paid about $1 for it, probably less. Buyer sent me a message saying how happy she was with her purchase.

This week I thought I’d share some sales over the last year of mugs and cups. Most if not all of these I did okay to very well on. The ones that were bad buys or super long tail are still unsold – maybe I’ll share those at some point when I decide to take them down and re-donate or they sell. Same caveat as Jay and Ryanne always say: I’m very picky about what I will pick up, and sometimes they take a really really long time to sell.

Swid Powell (post modern designers) red ribbon AIDS awareness mug from the 1990s. Just one of those things where as soon as you touch it you can feel the better quality. Purchased for $1. Sold for $30 after 10 months.

My first and so far only Taylor & Ng “naughty” bears mug. 1970s-ish. Purchased for $1. Sold in 4 months for $20 – had a crack in the handle.

Huge 18 oz Pendleton mug in like new condition. Thought I would do much better on this one than I did. Purchased for 50c. Sold for $15 in 1.5 years.

OK, that’s probably enough mugs for now. I’ll share some more in the future. They don’t bring in tons of money, but I mainly choose ones that I enjoy having for some time and then letting go.

Thanks for posting, Sonia! I love selling mugs, but I don’t think I’ve ever found anything as cool as these before. When I’ve cleared my death piles, I’mma start looking for some!
