If you have free shipping, then you will pay for it to get to Kentucky as if it’s a regular domestic order.
The buyer will be charged shipping from Kentucky to their international address. You will not receive this amount.
Meg is correct. In fact you will only see and receive that portion of the shipping cost it takes to get it to Kentucky. For example: if it’s 13 oz and USPS First Class, you will receive $4.29… Ebays give the rest to the Global shipper.
I used to buy more electronics, but it seemed, after testing, so much of it was not saleable. I wasn’t finding the higher end stuff, so even the stuff I could sell wasn’t worth the effort.
I appreciate the advice just the same.
When you are looking at an item.. there will be a link “See other items”.. Then you can filter to “sold items”.
I don’t know what device you are using, other wise, would be able to give you more accurate details.
Good Luck.
If it’s truly a business trip, you can deduct all the miles, as well as the lodging and meals.
The question you have to ask yourself is “is this really a business trip and will it stand up to an audit?”
Thanks again everyone for your suggestions.
I’ve begun to modify the titles, especially on the shorter ones. It’s funny, when I look at items I listed over a year ago, It’s hard to believe I wrote the some of the titles.
Also I’m slowly culling my listings and just ending many items that aren’t worth the space they tie up in my storage.
Pictures and lighting, have always been a challenge to me. The reason, I end up with a two tone background is because I’m using towels as a back drop. I’ve read many of the posts on lighting and light boxes. It’s just an area I will have to continue to work on.
In order to shake things up, I went to my local box lot auction last week. I always do well there, but I end up with so much stuff, that it’s a little overwhelming. My filtering process is more steam lined now, but it’s still time consuming. As a result, I made some good sales this week.
Like most of you, there are other things going on in my life right now that I have to focus on as well.
Life is about change and making choices. If the glass isn’t half full.. maybe it’s time for a different glass…
05/31/2017 at 7:03 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 312: Is eBay Removing Old listings? #18848I recently went o my local Sunday auction. I haven’t been there in a while. Every time I go, I say “I should have brought my trailer.”
Among other items, they have the remains of many estate sales selling in box lots and pallets. Basically you buy a lot of stuff, drag it home and filter for the gems.
For $50 out the door including fees, I bought 8 boxes of old books, with about 40 first editions. 7 Boxes of new old stock car oil filters and 4 boxes of stuff from an estate sale. I had to make two trips with the car.
In about a week, I’ve sold a couple of books for $235, some glassware for $130 and $50 in oil filters.
Unfortunately, except for about 6 books, the rest aren’t worth much and I’m debating just donating them… what a shame. Even first editions don’t necessarily have value.
Also, the oil filters are a tough sell, unless you have multiples of the same one. I’m debating putting about half of them on “Offer up” locally and just moving them cheap.
There is a certain thrill after you get home and find out what’s in the bottom of those boxes. I’ll be going back for sure.
05/30/2017 at 6:01 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 312: Is eBay Removing Old listings? #18787If the listing is for local pickup, the handling rules do not apply. I have about 12 local pickups in my listings and they are ineligible for the TRS discount due to this.
I’ve never had any of them dinged for late shipment. I have a local pickup sale about once a month.
When the item is picked up, you just mark it as shipped.
05/30/2017 at 2:40 pm in reply to: Insurance – The total Amount minus What we already Recieve?? #18781Addressing (and agreeing with) the original point..
I just sold a book for $200.
If I send it Media Mail the cost is $3.35 for USPS insurance.
If I send it Priority Mail, the cost is $3.35 for USPS insurance.
The $200 value is automatically filled it by Ebay/USPS.
I guess we only get $100 of free insurance if we don’t try to buy insurance for an item worth more than $100. After that the free portion goes away.
It looks like it’s going to ship Media Mail.
05/30/2017 at 12:07 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 312: Is eBay Removing Old listings? #18774With a Local Pickup, you are not required to put in a weight and dimensions. I would just tell them you don’t know the weight for sure. A refrigerator is a pretty standard item and the shipping company and buyer should be able to figure it out.
Uship is not associated with Ebay, but is similar to Ebay in the way that they handle their website. The individual shippers are all independent and bid on your shipment. You choose the shipper based on feedback, price etc. You are not obligated to go with anyone. It’s like a “best offer” situation. I recommend you go to their site and see what it’s all about.
The shipping options you may mention, are just suggestions for the buyer. They can choose whatever method they wish and should be the ones contacting the companies themselves. Put in as many as you want.
The key is to leave all the details up to the buyer, so you don’t get pulled into it and end with a lot of headaches.
Good luck..
05/29/2017 at 2:55 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 312: Is eBay Removing Old listings? #18729If this policy holds true and we are limited to one year of listing time, that creates a huge opportunity for a new site.
Successful businesses are all about filling a niche.
I can’t imagine Ebay would be so foolish, as to turn out this segment of their business.
Time will tell.. maybe it’s time to open an Etsy account?
I’m thinking it’s part of a larger device, like a steamer or fryer..
05/27/2017 at 3:33 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Motorcycle wheel, Matchabelli cologne, Pendleton shirt, Radios, Vintage fan, Airplane kit #18664I sold two Vintage glassware items for $50 each. I listed them at different times and they both sold very quickly to two different people. Did I miss something. I am happy with the sales, but I’m wondering if I left money on the table… Any ideas?
I don’t remember exactly the comments regarding which clubs to purchase. Most likely they were referring to clubs with wood shafts, which are older vintage clubs.
Older clubs are plentiful and fairy expensive to ship. Unless you have something special, you may want to put them on Craigslist or list them as Pickup Only on Ebay.
I’ve had luck selling just the heads, but obviously they are much cheaper to ship and a bit more specialized.
Good Luck
I fixed it now.. Thanks
