Someone I used to work with sells Rodan+Fields products. I see her posts on Facebook all the time. She messaged me a year ago about it, and I flatly said that I wasn’t interested.
I sat through a number of Amway presentations when I was younger because I had friends that signed up. I never bit.
There are a few companies on that list that have good products, like Tupperware and Tastefully Simple. People must make some money on Tupperware for them to be around so long. I think there are different levels of MLM.
I’m rooting for Veronica and hoping that she has a quick recovery time. I’m always rooting for her to “win” your high sale “competition”, and I now I’m rooting for her to get better soon.
All my sales from Friday Nov 9 through today Nov 12 say ship by Nov 14. Pretty consistent, so I’m not seeing any issues. I have a two day handling time.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it was some type of glitch.
From the podcast; how to counteract “bad taste”: watch Ryanne’s and Steve’s What Sold videos! I still watch and learn from them.
Anyway, my numbers:
Week of Nov 4 – 10
* Total Items in Store: 1209 eBay, 11 Mercari
* Items Sold: 11 eBay
* Cost of Items Sold: $7.70 + $0 Commission
* Total Sales: $237.17 eBay + $0 Mercari
* Highest Price Sold: $49 Chest waders (for fishing)
* Average Price Sold: $21.56
* Returns: 0
* Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $0
* Number of items listed this week: 46October was so slow, as slow as summer. Then, on Wednesday, I sold three items, and, from then on out so far, sales have been much more consistent. I’m also selling at a variety of price points, not just the cheap stuff. I’m hoping that the trend keeps up and that 4th quarter is finally here!
11/12/2018 at 12:25 pm in reply to: Trash Elf Twins Challenge 2018 Thread #3 From Week 31 August #51532This is almost embarrassing, but I got 46 items listed! One from last year’s death piles.
Part of the reason I got so much listed is that all the cleaning, testing, and prepping happened the previous week or weekend. The other reason is that many of my items were similar enough that I was able to copy a listing and only have to make a few changes.
For instance, I had three incomplete dish sets. I start with a listing I already have up, upload the new photos, and change the title to the manufacturer, pattern, item (lets say 3 Dinner Plates), etc. After I post it, I “sell similar”, change three dinner plates to four salad bowls (or whatever), and I just need to update part of the title, weigh, change the price, etc. The research I do for the first one is still up, so I can determine the new price quickly. Easy Peasy!
I realized on Saturday that I had listed like gang busters, but they were all recent purchases. I noticed a Sega Genesis game system on the bottom shelf of our coffee table waiting to be tested. I quick got it out, tested (boy, have video games changed), photographed right into the listing, and then listed so that I could report at least one death pile!
Right now, I have a pile of maybe 15 items to photograph. After that, however, it’s test or fix or wash, so I won’t be as efficient this week, and my numbers won’t be so high for my next report.
I know that this topic has come up several times in the recent past. One suggestion I’ve heard a number of times is to do the numbers. Specifically, how much money do you need just to survive. This would include mortgage payment, food, gas/electric, phone, internet, etc. This would be the minimum profit you would want to have each month on eBay. Do you already make that amount? Or how much more do you need in sales to get there?
When estimating profit due to increasing the size of your store, take into account that sales will not go up linearly with the number of items you have available. As you buy more inventory, you will probably buy more long tail items and sales will not increase hand in hand with purchasing.
You should have several months salary in the bank before quitting in case of an emergency.
Anyway, these are some of the suggestions mentioned in previous posts about this subject. I’m sure that many other people will chime in. However, you can use the “Search the forums” search box (on the right hand side if you scroll down) to find older conversations on this subject.
Mike – I was thinking that I hadn’t seen a post from you for a while. That’s a crazy thing for someone to do at 70. You must have more energy than 99% of people in your age group.
I’ve saved your message in a notes file in case I ever need to use it (with adjusted wording, of course).
So true!
Right now, with sales so slow, I list something and it has 0 views for hours, even a day or two. The bag sticks out since it is getting so many views. Silly I didn’t think about it!
Hum, 90210 did not come up in any of my searches. You must be a fan!
Interesting, though, it is getting many more views than any of my other recently listed items.
My sales were miserable last week, but I did have one item of interest:
Anyone who watched Ryanne’s older what sold videos knows to buy vintage hardware when they see it. These brass table legs were properly labeled in an online auction, but no one wanted them but me. Bought for $1, sold for $90!
The word Icarus definitely brought more hits of designs closer to the logo, but nothing matching. I’ll add that to the title. The word euphoria didn’t help much over U4EA.
Yes, I do believe that the log is silk screened (or something similar) over the camo design. Come to think of it, I should add the word Camo to the title.
I think he is in the style of Howdy Doody, but not Howdy Doody. I tried searching for other male dolls from the 1950’s, but didn’t really hit on anything.
To me, the chest appears to have been painted white so that it looks like a shirt under the tuxedo jacket. The jacket with the tag might have not originally come with the doll.

Right above each message is the date/time to the left, and the word “reply” and a number to the right. If you click “reply”, it will direct you to the bottom, but, when you submit your comment, it will move it underneath the comment you replied to.
11/07/2018 at 8:28 pm in reply to: New eBay shipping page–can't use printer setting to shrink label #51383Which Sharyn are you trying to message? ebaymom who is Sharon with an “o”, or me, Sharyn with a “y”?
Sounds like you are trying to give ebaymom (Sharon) an explanation of your process.
When I responded to her message, I did think for a minute to say something about our shared name, but decided against it. I guess I should have. I can see where there would be confusion.
Funny, but I don’t meet too many people with the name Sharon except for a friend who says she “collects Sharons” in her life. Her mom and several of her close friends are named Sharon (or Sharyn in my case). She texts me every time she meets a new Sharon. I text her every time I meet someone with her name, but its less often and doesn’t seem to have the same affect.
I did attend a school meeting recently where my name was called because I won a book. After the meeting, someone came up to me to say that her mom had the same name (both first and last). However, the spelling was different for both (the “y” in my first name and an extra “e” in my last name).
