So, this my be an absolutely ridiculous question but do y’all think that it is a bad thing to sell on facebook marketplace with the pandemic going around? I’ve been trying to stay away from people as much as I can, but I just think that it may not be the right thing to be doing. Just want some opinions.

I dont think its crazy if you’re smart about it. We sold a window a couple weeks ago on Facebook. I propped it up in our driveway against my truck. When the people came, I stood on the porch 20 feet away and told them to look it over. I told them to put their cash in a plastic container nearby. I put the container in storage for a week before I touched the cash.
Also depends on your location. We have six official cases in our county. If I lived in the NorthEast where there are hundreds of thousands of cases, I’d be less likely to get near strangers.

That’s a great idea, I think it works well where you live. I live in a kind of rural area, but it’s not like your tiny community that you live in. So, I don’t know everyone around (even though I wish I did). I feel like it I did what you do, people would take advantage of it. So like they may not put as much money in the plastic container as I asked for. I just don’t trust people sometimes, even though I wish I could :(.
What I’ve been doing is meeting them at a local pizza place and wiping everything with clorox wipes right before I give it to them. I am getting no closer than 6 feet to people. That helps though, I may use your idea of just setting it out for them to look at.-

Unless you sell iPhones or electronics, I find everyone has been honest on Facebook and Craigslist. We can usually tell who’s going to be an issue just based on how they communicate online. If they cant string together sentences properly, we just stop communicating.

I do live in the North East, and I’ve been thinking about it. I’ve seen a few local pickup items show up on my “make offer” list. I include a note that I am willing to still go ahead with it, but that I would consider social distancing in the pickup.
Normally, I do a pickup in a parking lot somewhere in town. Because of the corona virus, I would probably arrange for them come to my house and pick it up on my porch or on the driveway. Since it would be an eBay sale, I wouldn’t have to worry about exchanging money.
I haven’t had anyone accept an offer, so I haven’t put it into practice yet.

I have no problem with buying and selling on FB Marketplace now.
Just practice the guidelines, wear a mask, wash your hands/sanitize after the transaction, the virus can’t be absorbed through the skin or through your wallet. I sanitize anytime I handle money or touch a keypad. -

I’ve done very well on FB market place.
Seems more and more people are looking there esp since Covid.
I’ve sold many things locally recently that just sat on ebay. Mostly vintage items. Sold to some scavengers everyone is itching because all the stores are closed no yard sales no auctions.
Sometime I meet at nearby store parking lot sometimes at my house.
Recently I sold a Diehl fan I wasn’t home left it on the front steps and asked them to leave money in mailbox. Since you can check out their fb id you usually get a sense of the person.I’m in Massachusetts so we have a lot of people looking. Recently I have more people who ask for shipping, I haven’t gone that route on fb as I usually negotiate prices knowing I am not dealing with shipping and fees.
