Thanks Amatino.
LittleBlueHouse let me add my warm wishes to you. I truly understand feeling like one isn’t handling this whole ordeal well. I’m trying to be gentle with myself…easier said than done some days. The anxiety can be overwhelming so I have found that for me, trying to only think about a month at a time. I’m trying to not look too far ahead. Right now I’m thinking about April. If a month is too much try a week at a time. I keep a sign on my desk ~ THIS TOO SHALL PASS and it gives me comfort. Hang in there-you got this.

So I got 8 listed this week – two of which are gold colored and if you are being lenient I have one that has gold accents? Hey I have no hope this week of winning!
Thank You for your kind words, this past week was rough. I think it is much worse with everything going on. They had to tear up half our kitchen and half of our bathroom flooring b/c of so much damage. We called insurance and we were sure they wouldn’t cover it. It only covers leaks within 10-14 days and we have no idea how long it had been going on. The remediation team that came in to dry it out and all that talked to our adjuster and said it was within that time frame. So it’s going to be covered! I’m not a pro so I’m not going to fight them on the timing. We hope to have a new heater and flooring by Friday. Our hope not a quote from anyone. LOL I hope everyone is well and thank you for letting me ramble!

I buckled down and listed 32 items for me. I’m happy that my speed is picking up through repetition.
I hope everyone has a great week! -
04/13/2020 at 10:32 am #76185
22 new listings for me this week. I didn’t make my listing goal (again) but I’m trying to be easy on myself during these trying times. I finished a lot of organizational work on my unlisted inventory and the hundreds of photos I already have of my unlisted inventory. Hopefully that will pay off with more listings in the future:)
LBH: Glad to hear amidst all the chaos you’re experiencing that your insurance will cover the cost of the repairs. That’s at least one thing that went well for you in a really bad situation. With the pandemic going on it’s hard to tolerate even one more thing going wrong; I totally get where you’re coming from. I’m trying to concentrate on that fact that I’m alive and healthy when I’m feeling anxious about any extra problems that come up. I hope things are on the upswing for you – and for everyone.
Wishing everyone a safe and healthy week!

I listed 17 items this week, including 8 different retro 70s vintage tin recipe boxes sell similar. My dad brought over some more fabric, tablecloths and vintage sheets. Honestly not too excited about listing the used sheets. Hoping to list more this week but day job has projects. Also this week my son is on spring break and we are going to deliver groceries to older folks – it’s called ZoomerstoBoomers. I’ll walk him through shopping and help him navigate. The addresses are to fairly wealthy homes, but strange how in these times, the virus is an equalizer. Sorry off on a tangent. Have a good week everyone!

04/13/2020 at 11:06 am #76195
Zero for me, but hoping this week will be my turnaround. We’ve been so busy, and I’ve had almost no time for any eBay with his business and sewing masks.
LBH: great news about the insurance covering it! Hope things get better.
-
04/13/2020 at 11:36 am #76197
I listed eight items last week. Between everyone being at home and starting a new job, I’m glad to get anything listed.
Three of my newly listed items meet the challenge. One was actual 14K gold (and sold within hours) and two had gold colored accents. My total is now six.
@littleBlueHouse – Yes, Amatino’s challenge allows for gold colored accents, even something brass or similar in color. So count it! -
04/13/2020 at 12:00 pm #76199
52 listings for me, including 3 gold items. All fabric right now, as it’s selling faster than I can list it.
Amazon blew up for me this past week, with sales at Christmas levels. Etsy is blowing out fabric at record levels. I had several nice feedback notes stating that the fabric they bought from me was going to be made into masks and surgical caps. It’s crazy times we are living in, but I am doubly grateful for the sales.
hope everyone has a safe and good week ahead.

04/13/2020 at 12:42 pm #76204
Only 8 new listings for me. 0 gold. I spent the week ending & revising 65 stale listings.
-
04/13/2020 at 2:59 pm #76208
Ugh! Lost track of my new listings for the past 2 weeks. Need to keep track and step it up. During the week ending April 6th, I listed 11 new listings. During the week ending April 12, I listed 11. Just realized that this is the 2nd qtr. of the listing challenge. Please apply where I still can. Thanks so much!

52 listings and one gold item for challenge, now I better get back to listing! LOL
-
04/14/2020 at 8:41 am #76224
Wow! About half of you had listings ending in a two, most of the rest listed 8. So, 2s and 8s win the day. Anyone want to play the lottery? 😀
Spreadsheet updated and we have another tie! Well done to Libby and VL.
LBH – yes, this month’s challenge is very liberal, but I see that lots of folks are participating this month. Mr. T for the WIN!
Welcome back to listing, Julie B! Hope that means your back is feeling better. And Jen, no worries, all updates will be added.
Generally, if someone doesn’t post for four weeks in a row, on the fifth week, if they still haven’t posted, I move them down. If they come back, I just move them back up into the active group and add in any weeks they advise.
Good going, everyone. Mr. T would be proud. Keep it up!

04/14/2020 at 9:29 am #76228
Thank you Amatino! My back is much better! Also, thanks again for tracking everyone’s listings. It is motivating even if I’m not knocking it out of the park. Many times just the thought that I’ll be posting my weekly total to a forum, is what gets me to start listing for the day.

Hello Fellow Listing Challengers!
With the gracious permission of our fearless leader Amatino I’m posting this thread:-
Finding the Pandemic Positives
I’d love to hear any positives you’ve experienced as a reseller during the Pandemic. Let me also say that I sincerely hope no one is offended by me trying to find any positives during this terrible time. I am completely aware that this is a catastrophic event, people are dying, and the economy is in a terrible mess from this – and I don’t take it lightly! I’m just trying to find anything positive amidst all the negatives. Please post here if you’d like to join in.
Here are the positives for me:
1. My craft items are selling more quickly now that so many people are stuck at home with time on their hands.2. I’m selling a lot more fabric, probably due to all the face mask making and free time people now have to quilt and sew. Same thing with sewing patterns, they’re selling faster too.
3. I’ve had to find new ways to source inventory. I never bothered with alternative ways to source before now – because the thrift stores and outlet bins were such an easy go-to for me.
4. I’ve had to go through my “shelter in place” piles and list the stuff that I passed over before.
I’ve always been one to list the easy items first and had the bad habit of going out and buying more easy to list items instead of buckling down and listing the more complicated (or needs work) items I already owned. Now I’m listing those more complicated to list items.5. I had time to organize my unlisted inventory and time to organize the hundreds of old photos I have of said unlisted inventory. To be honest, since I’m retired, I always had time for this. But instead of doing it I’d run out to thrift store shop instead. The thrift stores closing have really helped me with my bad run out to shop instead of doing eBay housekeeping habit.

This is a great idea! I love that we can find good in this!
Your point #5 made me laugh. I read somewhere something along the lines of
“I had so much that I planned to do, but I always thought I didn’t have time. Turns out that wasn’t the problem!” 😀My positives aren’t so much eBay related, but they’re Pandemic Positives
1. My husband’s business is going nuts. We have so many people finding out about us that never knew we existed. We’re grateful for his increase in business due to my dance business being closed down due to COVID-19. It has increased the workload more than the influx of machines, though, as we now have to run around and meet folks by appointment at drop off points, so we’re working longer hours and more days than ever – but with so many worrying about how to make the rent, we’re humbly thankful for our blessings.2. I love how the community is starting to pull together! People in our county town are making masks by the handful and donating them for free! People are coming forward with grocery provisions, taking care of the elderly, special opening hours, stepping up to be the neighbors we never knew we had. Our tiny library is running a full-time curbside book loan program. It’s so heartwarming! Today I dropped off a sewing machine that we’re loaning for free to the community mask project , and tomorrow the hubs is going to service the machines they have that went down, also at no charge. We felt that it was our community service to step forward and help those who are working so hard. These ladies, who spend all day every day churning out free masks for our community, turned around gratefully and asked what they could do for US in return! Such generosity of spirit. I wanted to cry! It makes me so proud to be part of this town!

As far as eBay goes, sales have been great. I had one week as the quarantine started where I thought we were going to be in the doldrums for a while, but that was the only week that sucked. I think people have more time to shop, and Amazon is pushing buyers to eBay because of shipping delays and prioritizing essentials.
On the personal level, my daughter is back at home, and we have more meals together as a family. Our expenses have dropped by at least $1000 a month, and we will be getting a refund for her unused dormitory and meal plan costs. I’m still selling on eBay, and I’ve started a new job. This period of time (so far) has been very good for us financially.
When I do need to drive somewhere, traffic is very light. I’m seeing more of neighbors in the past month than I’ve seen since we moved here in 2005.
As a family, we’ve had some very nice hikes and a few walks. A couple of days ago, the sky was clear, the stars were out, and we were able to find a few constellations.
I usually plan a lunch once a month with former colleagues. Since we aren’t able to do that now, we are going to set up a WebEx lunch meeting. That will be different!
I do want to go back to normal life, but I appreciate the things that are good including the environmental stories of how this “pause” has been good for the Earth.

I love the idea of focusing on the positive…thanks VT! I’ve already mentioned that my sales have been skyrocketing. I’ve never sold this much fabric so fast. People are buying 8,10.12 pieces at a time. I had a record day yesterday…selling 48 pieces! I really like that I am contributing in a small way to people keeping sane during this crisis. I sent a package today to a woman in NYC who thanked me for helping her craft and stay in good spirits. If you think about it, all of our packages arriving give such an uplift to people and possibly be one of the highlights of their day. Fun mail lifts our spirits.
Do you know the term DING DONG DITCH? We used to play this game when we were kids. You basically ring someone’s doorbell and then run and hide in the bushes, giggling hysterically. My BF and I did our own version on Saturday. We decided to play Easter bunny and leave gifts at the doors of three close friends….and then ringing the doorbell and running away. I gathered items from my stash (thank you death pile!) and put them in a pretty gift bag with some pretty faux flowers I had found at the bins and had planned to take to my show. Charlie had found a 4 ft tall paper mache rabbit that he’d also planned to take to the show so the rabbit ended up at the door of the friend we thought would like it most. We put the presents at each door, rang the doorbell, and then ran back to our car, laughing like little kids. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!!
I too am enjoying the light traffic, although it’s almost spooky at times and reminds me of the cult movie Night of the Comet. We’ve had glorious weather and everything is blooming. We had two bee swarms in our front yard this week.
There’s always SO much to be grateful for.

I like this idea VT. I have about the same amount of hourly work and work for a big firm with little client contact so easy to do from home. My husband has been working a lot of overtime, and a few of our expenses are a bit lower – car insurance, food, gas, plus looks like we will not take that East Coast trip this summer or probably this year. We are sharing some of our overtime pay as food donations in our community. We have time to volunteer with a few food deliveries. We don’t practice organized religion, so I’m pleased to have more time to help as an example to my kids.
I have a bit more time to chill with the kiddos, which is nice. My teens have been getting more of the sleep they really need during the shut down. Some of my son’s pre-college entrance exams are watered down, cancelled or at least delayed, taking pressure off an otherwise brutal schedule this Spring. We take walks daily in the neighborhood and hear the frogs in the creek at sundown. We are getting plenty of rain to remove the fear of drought and hopefully a bad fire season.

Thank you to our stalwart Listing Challenge members for adding to this thread!
Sharyn: Thank you for sharing your positives and for mentioning that this “pause” is good for the earth environmentally. I hadn’t thought of that and it’s an incredible positive for the entire world!
ChristineR: Your generosity and caring spirit inspire me to do even more for those less fortunate in these difficult times. Your children have a fine model in you on how be compassionate and community minded individuals.
VintageLacy: Your Easter story lifted my spirits immensely and made me wish I was one of your nearby friends! Your antics are so fun to read about; they inspire me to add more free-spirited fun to my life.
Amatino: You always are the first in line to support and back me up, you’re simply the best!

Hi everyone. Hope you had a productive week. I listed 29 items, 27 unique. I made it back over 300 items in my store, so that’s nice. Worked on art, table linens, and kitchen stuff. I found the fabric tedious to list but really should get back to that.
-
04/20/2020 at 10:28 am #76463
39 new listings for me, but just by the skin of my teeth! Luckily I found 6 nearly identical items in my stash last night and I quickly listed those to make my quota.
I was counting on a delivery today to get some easy/quick to list items but that purchase is going to arrive late. Hopefully I will still get it this week and be able to use those as some of my new listings this week. If not it’s going to be a tough week listing mostly items that need a lot of work.
Hope everyone is still doing well, staying at home, and staying safe!
-
04/20/2020 at 10:36 am #76464
I listed 13 items this week. No gold items, but have some lined up. Spent yesterday re-organizing my storage where I keep a lot of my Amazon inventory. It was greatly needed because Amazon is still going nuts. Amazon Prime is still stating ship dates up to a month out so those of us who ship to customers directly are making hay while the sun shines. I think the incentive checks starting to arrive last week helped sales too. All in all one of the craziest weeks in the history of all the years I have been selling online. I am very grateful for this opportunity and know just how fortunate I am!
ChristineR List that fabric! You won’t be sorry. Seriously. 🙂
-
04/20/2020 at 1:02 pm #76483
VL Thanks – I needed that. This morning I sold a yard+ of French fabric for $79!
-
-
04/20/2020 at 10:37 am #76465
I listed 12 items.
Three had gold (one actual and the others had gold color accents).
-
04/20/2020 at 11:01 am #76468
Good Morning!
Feeling good about my listings for the past week. I was able to list 29 items. Thanks for helping me be accountable! Hope to increase this week. Sales have been great! Had to put a major order in for shipping supplies last night. Hope it continues. Stay well!
-
04/20/2020 at 11:04 am #76469
5 items. I need to get back to my double digits! Two of those were listings with variations so it’s actually not that bad.
-
04/20/2020 at 11:55 am #76474
17 listings for me.
-
04/20/2020 at 12:23 pm #76479
Thanks to VT for putting a boot to my behind, I have listed…. one. Hey, I actually did 6 listings, but 5 didn’t make it out of drafts due to injury. Meh! Will just have some ready-to-go for this week’s totals. Yay!
On a sad note, my family has had a COVID death. My sister-in-law’s father fell, hit his head, and went to hospital for a check up. He went home okay, but they didn’t realize he’d caught COVID while he was there, and he died shortly after. I never met him, but my UK family is pretty cut up about it, as he died alone and they can’t even go to his funeral. Sad news for the end of the week.
Hope you are all staying safe and, for the love of life, please don’t fall!
-
04/20/2020 at 2:04 pm #76497
So, sorry to hear about your relative Amatino. I express my sincere sympathy to you and your family.
This past week I listed a total of 36 items. Sales have been crazy good and I need to keep the store replenished. I retired last Wednesday and ebay is part of my plan to make it work. My goal is to have 1000 listings on ebay by the end of the year. To accomplish this I must list at least 2.5 items per day plus any sales I have made that day. Right now I have 350 listings up. The road to 1000 is a long one.
I hope everyone has a great week of sales and LISTING.
-
04/20/2020 at 2:35 pm #76501
Amatino, I’m so sorry for you and your family.
0 for me last week. I think I forgot to post the week before, it was also 0. I’m throwing down the gauntlet to myself (if such can be said) to do 20 this week.
-
04/20/2020 at 5:59 pm #76547
Sorry for your loss. It is really getting close to everyone.
Listings are 39 for the week for me, I need to get in gear, but needed to take some time to reorganize this week. Take care. -
04/21/2020 at 5:14 pm #76579
Wow, this is a year of new records. For the third time this year, we have a tie for first place! Well done to Libby and VT!
And, UtahBill, believe it or not, you’re in second! Now, now, breathe… there you go! Don’t you feel good?
Spreadsheet updated. Now, Mr. T has noticed that only one person posted gold this week for Mr. T’s April Gold Challenge and he has a message for you!
-
04/22/2020 at 12:02 pm #76607
Wow, second place, who would have ever thought it!
More importantly my sales are really improving as I list more. Thanks again for tracking our numbers and posting the challenge.
-
-
04/21/2020 at 5:29 pm #76580
Oops, sorry Amatino, I was just going to post my gold number at the end of the challenge. But in order to appease Mr. T (believe me, you DON”T want him mad at you) I have 4 gold items so far this month. Thank you for allowing fabric with some gold color in the print to count towards gold items!
-
04/21/2020 at 5:42 pm #76582
Utahbill, now that you’ve retired you’re a force to be reckoned with! The rest of us challengers (except Libby – LOL) better step up our games!
Regarding getting up to 1,000 listings by the end of the year – I wish you luck! I’ve found it really difficult to keep growing my store when sales are good. My goal is 5 or 6 listings a day, but if I sell 10 items in a day I find it nearly impossible to list 15 or 16 items in one day (even though I’m retired). I can do it but I need lots of similar items so I can use sell similar to speed up the process, and it’s not easy to find 15 similar items to list every day. Much of the time I’m struggling to keep my store at the same number of listings – even though I’m actively trying to grow…
-
04/22/2020 at 12:00 pm #76606
Yes, I am already finding it difficult to keep up with my daily quotas on days when I have a lot of sales, but that’s a good problem to have. I think the key to all of this is increasing listing speed. I am trying to be thoughtful as I list and analyze each part of the process. I jot down any ideas that will make the process more efficient, even the little things. All the little things can add up to a significant improvement. For example, I purchased more packing tape dispensers and placed one at any location I might even think about using tape. This eliminated walking to other rooms to get tape. However, I can’t overlook the elephant in the room either. I am spending nowhere near 8 hours a day listing. 🙂
-
-
04/22/2020 at 12:38 pm #76612
Thanks for the thoughtful response, Utahbill. I am also not spending anywhere near 8 hours a day listing (although I swear it feels like it sometimes – LOL!). I agree with you on analyzing the process to increase listing speed. I also put tape dispensers in 3 places when I realized occasionally I was running down to my basement shipping station to add a little more tape before mailing my items out.
That being said, sometimes I purposely keep things as is for other reasons. I know it would improve my shipping time to have a printer set up in my office by my computer. But I think it’s good to have my shipping station in the basement, my printer on the first floor and my computer on the second floor. That way I get some extra stair climbing in during the day. I have a standing desk but just standing still for so many hours a day probably wouldn’t be great for me health-wise.
-
04/26/2020 at 7:08 pm #76706
Weekly unique listings, 113. I pretty much spent every free moment I had listing. Hope everyone is well!
-
04/26/2020 at 8:31 pm #76712
I’m right up there with Libby at 5 😂
-
04/26/2020 at 8:59 pm #76715
I’m up there with Libby too! I listed 14. Which is my lowest week this year I believe.
Apparently I was so shocked to tie Libby’s listing # last week that there was quite a delay before I came back to my senses enough to list this week – LOL!
Stay strong and safe everyone!
-
04/26/2020 at 9:40 pm #76716
Way to go Libby. I listed 29 all unique. Hope for more this week.
-
04/27/2020 at 4:48 am #76722
Sharyn you made me laugh! So funny.
I listed 41 items this week in total. Happy to make my goal after I did so little last week.
Thanks to the nudge from Mr T and Amatino I dug around in my fabric stash and listed 13 gold-color items. 🙂
-
04/27/2020 at 8:12 am #76730
17 this week!
-
04/27/2020 at 8:35 am #76732
27 for me. 2 gold color. Thanks, Amatino!
-
04/27/2020 at 8:50 am #76733
63 listings! I had my best listing week in well over a year. I got thru two entire bins plus part of a 3rd. Near the start of a week I opened a bin and all of the items were boring, low profit and things I would never buy now. So I photographed and listed them as quickly as possible to get them over with. From there I was motivated to keep going. I’m nearing 900 items in my store.
-
04/27/2020 at 11:25 am #76745
I slipped back a bit and only had 17 listings this week. I find that if I don’t get my listings done first thing in the morning life gets in the way and the don’t get done. I will change that this week.
-
04/27/2020 at 11:33 am #76748
Sharyn, you’re a hoot!
Julie B, go you! What a great week.
Libby – no words!
Thanks to VT’s motivation, I listed 12, two of which were gold. One of the gold ones sold that night, so thanks Mr. T!
-
04/27/2020 at 1:04 pm #76752
I forgot to mention that I did list one item with gold accents, bringing my total to 10. It also sold right away!
-
-
04/27/2020 at 9:28 pm #76784
27 unique listings. I listed 3 items with gold color.
-
04/28/2020 at 5:31 pm #76802
Spreadsheet updated. No need to announce the winner, is there? 😛
Could I ask you all a favor? I’ve been updated the April Challenge numbers as we go along. Would you please all have a look at the figures I have for you and let me know if I have any wrong? Challenge ends on Thursday, so list your gold items and lets make Mr. T really happy.
That reminds me – who has the May Challenge?
-
04/28/2020 at 6:31 pm #76803
Sharyn said she would take May, she was going to do April but traded months with you. Sharyn could you please post the May challenge on Friday morning May 1st? Thank you!
-
04/28/2020 at 6:34 pm #76804
Amatino, I should only have 4 gold items listed for April. But I like the number you have for me!
-
04/28/2020 at 9:09 pm #76819
What, I didn’t win the week? Oh, that Libby, beat me by a few.
Yes, I have the May challenge. I’m glad Amatino had the April, because I still have a few gold things to list in the next day or two.
-
04/29/2020 at 1:13 am #76823
My total for the April GOLD challenge should be 19. I have a couple more lined up to do by Thursday so I will let you know Amatino what my final April total is by Thursday evening. 🙂
-
05/01/2020 at 1:34 am #76883
One more gold item for me so my total for the April GOLD challenge is 20 gold items.
-
05/01/2020 at 9:52 am #76887
I listed 6 more gold items for a total of 16.
I’m supposed to do a May challenge today, but I think I should give folks a chance to get their April challenge totals in. I’ll post later tonight.
-
05/01/2020 at 1:09 pm #76893
LOL, VT, dunno how I got that number! 😀 Maybe it was supposed to be added to VL.
All numbers updated per the above. I added one more to my total, taking me to 3.
You have until the end of the day today, 5PM Central Time, to update your GOLD totals, and the winner will be announced.

Thanks Amatino! I was lucky that I happened to be listing jewelry on commission this month!
Here’s my May challenge should you like to play along. This one’s not about listing, but rather about getting rid of inventory that you just don’t want anymore.
What I like to do is put those items up for a weekly auction at a reduced price (maybe half), and, after the auction ends, I put it back up for another week. I do this for several weeks until it sells or I donate it. In other words, I spent all the time photographing it, so I’m willing to let it go one way or the other, but I want to make room for better inventory.
I wanted to do this in April because my town has a freecycling event where I will take those items once they were given a chance. Now there are no places open for me to donate, so I have grown to about 40 auctions going on every week.
Here’s the plan. Pick 10 items that you really don’t want around. Put them on auction this weekend. Earlier on Saturday is better because you might not be at your computer when they end, so you re-list them a bit later and later as the weeks go by.
At the end of the month, count how many sold. I usually sell zero, one, or two a week. If someone bids, but doesn’t pay, count it anyway.
After that, you can donate, continue with the auctions, or put it back in stock. Up to you!

I listed 27 unique items this week. Congrats to the April winners.

39 new listings for me, I’m happy that I met my weekly quota.
Wishing everyone a great week, stay safe!

28 for me this week. My store now has over 900 listings – 906. If I wanna keep it over 900 I need to list, list, list this week. Sales are up 94% the last 30 days compared to this time last month – crazy!
-
05/04/2020 at 11:05 am #76994
Only 10 for me this week. Despite great sales last month, I have started to slack off. That all changes today!

0 – 🙁 Last week I moved into a friend’s house temporarily because this stupid floor/hot water heater thing is still ongoing. On Monday I injured my back and I was on pain killers so I could not drive back to my house to do, well anything. I ended up pulling all of my listings down until I knew I could get back to the house to ship. I have since put everything back up and luckily I have sold a lot since then! I’m sure it’s coincidence since mine is only a hobby store (only 160 items right now) but still interesting.

Dang, Sharyn, I just did that last month! LOL. However, I’m clearing inventory, this is right up my alley!
This week I have been SO productive! I’m loving my new cabin and working in there makes me happy. It’s also perfectly configured for my business, so I’ve been listing up a storm. 25 new items! With only 77 items listed YTD at the end of last week, this week I managed to list almost a third of my entire YTD number! I’m so impressed with me! Excuse my horn-blowing, but I’m just so happy!
I’ve also started working through my inventory, one drawer at a time, checking prices and shipping and item specifics and photographs. I’ve done several tweaks and already sold two! I also found an item that I swear I listed, but I can’t find it at all! I’m going to have to do a long-winded search by SKU to see if it’s somehow listed under something really obscure, but it certainly seems to have disappeared from my account. With Sharyn’s new challenge, I’ll have another avenue to follow.
Just a note for photography dummies like me, I know you’re out there! I ran an experiment to see what setting gave me the best return for photos. I took a mini white board, wrote the settings I was using on it, and then took a photo. Erased the white board, changed my settings, wrote the new settings, took a photo. So “Auto setting, auto iso, exp 0” and “Auto setting, auto iso, exp +1” and “Scene Sunny, auto iso, exp +1” etc. It’s a loooong process, there are so many configurations. But it helped to find the best setting and, as you can see, helped me list faster.
And then I bought a new camera. SMH! 😀
After running that experiment, I realised that my camera really is part of the problem. I upgraded to a Sony DSC-HX400V, which is a 2014 bridge model. I had the great-great-(many greats) grandaddy of this model, the DSC-H1. No, that’s not a typo. It was the very first in the series. I loved it! I had my fingers crossed that this camera would live up to Grandad’s legacy. So far, I think it may surpass it. I think it’s more intelligent than me! Listings this week might not be faster as I learn how to use it, but with just playing around with it, I am even more excited than I was about my listing numbers! HA! Snoopy happy dance!

@Amatino, I recall when you said you got rid of a bunch of stagnant inventory during your move to the new space. I’m like, crap, I should have kept the challenge in April! Oh, well.
I did add 10 more new items to my “rotating” auction pile so I can play along. I marked them as being part of the challenge. At the beginning of June, I may put the stuff on Freecycling as I’m sick and tired of it hanging around!

27 for me. I listed my 10 items for the May challenge. I’m interested to see how it goes, as I rarely do auctions.
-
05/04/2020 at 11:58 am #77000
Crazy busy with Mother’s Day orders, so have to be brief.
34 listings for me and I also listed the 10 items for the May Challenge. Can’t wait to see what happens!
Have a great week everyone!
-
05/04/2020 at 2:26 pm #77011
I listed 10 items.
I’m thinking that I should reduce my challenge down to 10 a week. Even when the quarantine ends and I have the house to myself again, I did start this part time job that is probably going to add more and more hours as the weeks go by.
-
05/05/2020 at 6:50 am #77049
A little late but 39 uniques for the week. I am doing some a few auctions, but they don’t qualify because they are going back to consignor if they don’t sell. Have a great week!
-
05/05/2020 at 10:29 am #77066
Little Blue House, so sorry to hear you’re having such a rough time. At least you got a bunch of sales to make up for it! Sending healing thoughts for your back.
Sharyn, changed your goal to 10 per week.
Libby, sorry, but according to the rules, you don’t get a win if you post late. It would have been a tie anyway. Amazing how many ties we’ve had this year!
Which means that the winner this week is VT! Go you! Now, don’t let it derail you like it did last time! LOL.
Spreadsheet updated.
Don’t forget the May Challenge. Select 10 items from your store that you want to get rid of. Put them on auction at half price (or whatever seems reasonable.) Log your number of sales at the end of the month. Sharyn – is it ten per week or ten for the month?
Seeing as I made such a hash of the numbers last month, I’m giving you back the responsibility of logging your own numbers. Give me a total on May 31st.
Hey, who has the June challenge?
-
05/05/2020 at 11:29 am #77073
Amatino – I was just thinking of 10 for the month. I just wanted to introduce the concept I use to get rid of old, less desirable inventory, not to start a large purge of everyone’s stores! If you want to do much more, then just mark the ones that are part of the challenge in the custom label column. I used an * to mark the ones I added since I still have the 40 or so that I haven’t been able to donate.
BTW, congratulations on your big listing binge last week! Looks like your eBay she-shed is really working out!

Nobody has offered an idea for the June challenge yet. Any takers out there? Maybe someone could step up who hasn’t offered a monthly challenge yet. I bet there are some great ideas for challenges out there, don’t be shy, people!
-
05/05/2020 at 11:52 am #77078
Thanks, Sharyn. Loving it in here!
Okay, everyone, ten items for the month, but more is an option.
Listed my ten, so I’m in for the May Challenge.
-
05/10/2020 at 11:55 am #77273
53 listing for the week, I am almost of consignments! I am not used this!
-
05/10/2020 at 11:59 am #77274
How about items from a box on the bottom of your death piles for June?
-
05/10/2020 at 8:24 pm #77289
Sounds like a great plan, ChristineR. Formulate how you would make it into a goal and you can post it on June 1st.
Libby, what do you sell? All consignment items? Clothes?
I’ve worked my way through all the stuff I had piled up in my work area, but I haven’t touched my shed of death piles yet. I reckon I could keep going another three months on what I have stored. Hmmm… if this keeps up, I might be out of DPs this year. Now, wouldn’t that be something!
Listed 30 this week. Out of my 10 auction items for the May Challenge, sold one, got a bid on one but cancelled the auction when I realized that I had it set to Free Shipping. In fact, ALL my auctions were set to Free Shipping, so I would have lost a ton of money if they’d all sold. The one that did sell went for $4 and the shipping will probably cost $7, so I’m out of pocket there too. Learn from my mistakes everyone, make sure you have shipping turned on for your auctions!
Will relist my unsold auctions tonight and ensure shipping is correct.

46 for me this week. I am out of consignments, thanks for the question Amantino, I work almost exclusively on consignment for furniture, clothing, home goods. I sell just about anything! I am going to self-source and organize some inventory this week. Sold 7 auction items for challenge! Great idea!

05/11/2020 at 8:14 am #77302
Hi Everyone,
47 new listings for me.
Thank you ChristineR for offering a June challenge, that’s a great idea!
Wishing everyone a great week ahead!
-
05/11/2020 at 8:29 am #77304
66 for me. I had more free time than usual this week.
I’ve decided to list some low dollar things that I might have otherwise donated, given that all the listings are free until July (and it’s a bit hard to donate things right now). At that point, I’ll reassess and see if it makes sense to go up a level on my store subscription, or if I should end some of the cheap listings that haven’t sold. I haven’t decided yet whether this will be a big waste of my time or not, tbd….

05/11/2020 at 9:52 am #77307
I listed two, and only because I rushed to do photos and listings last night.
The two main reasons I’ve have such low listing numbers is due to my new part-time job and the large number of sales. Both aren’t bad issues to have, so I’ll take what I can get.
I did sell one item that was part of my challenge. I was thinking to myself “what if I make this challenge and then don’t sell anything?”. Well, I had one, so I’m thankful for that.
@Amatino – Consider signing up for business policies. That will prevent you from the accidental free shipping issue in the future. It does take some time to organize in the beginning, but I think it is well worth it.Because of my low listing numbers, I’ve got death piles a plenty. I’ll be happy for that June challenge!
-
05/11/2020 at 10:04 am #77309
45 listings for me this week. I sold 3 items from the May challenge auction and they were the three I thought most likely to sell so it will be fascinating to see what happens with the other seven. I rarely do auctions so it’s an interesting venture. Glad to be getting rid of them, so thanks Sharyn for the challenge! I like the death pile box challenge suggestion for June. Choose a random box and have to list every single item, even when it’s annoying? Sounds like exactly the nudge I need!
Amatino, so happy your cabin is working so splendidly for you. Your listing numbers are on the rise! Go you! Actually lots of higher numbers this week. Go, everyone! 🙂
-
05/11/2020 at 11:03 am #77313
3 – it has been an interesting few weeks. I got a lot of pictures done and we were supposed to move back in, but then the day we started bringing stuff back the heat pump went out. I am not making this up. NOW we have to replace the whole system. Since it has been either ridiculously cold or blazing hot we cannot stay in the house without heat. SO back to the other house I go. I’m so done! lol
-
05/11/2020 at 11:51 am #77316
I took a couple of days totally off this week. I’m determined to make it a better week. I realized too that I let interruptions kind of sidetrack me, plus my son has been studying in the dining room at times when I want to list in there. I listed 27 items this week but only 21 were unique.
I pulled out a bottom box from my piles to list. It’s a lot of randomness – no easy multiples or similars but better pile items. I figured we can just get a whole box of whatever we have done, with brownie points if more than one bottom box gets done. Or we can count the items for the week to really get a winner. @Amatino why don’t you decide on that for us?
-
05/11/2020 at 12:46 pm #77318
So, 31 listings for me this past week. Ugh, forgot to post the week prior. Enjoyed Mother’s Day. Hope you all did too. Sales this past week wear a bit slower. Kind of Thankful for the brief break. Back to listing. Have a great week!
-
05/11/2020 at 11:22 pm #77333
I’m clocking in a little late this week, but I had a total of 29 new listings. Sales have slowed down for me as well.
-
05/12/2020 at 10:20 am #77338
Wow, what a listing week! You guys rock!
Spreadsheet updated, and a brand new winner this week: Junque Redux! Woot woot! (Feels good, doesn’t it?) 😉
Sharyn – Thanks, but I’ve been on Business Policies for a few years now. I was one of the first on the forum to start using them. The problem was that the listing had free shipping, so the auction defaulted to that. Since corrected it, but thought I’d warn others.
LittleBlueHouse – so sorry you’re still having problems. Hope they get resolved soon!
Jen, I’m happy to fill in previous weeks, if you know what your numbers were.
ChristineR – one of the problems with the Challenge is that it doesn’t have much room for folks who aren’t big listers to win a challenge. How about we even the playing field on this one? EVERYONE who empties a Death Pile box gets entered into a random draw for winner. So whether your box had five items or fifty, you have an even chance of being a winner. We’ll draw for first, second and third place, as usual. What do you think?
-
05/12/2020 at 10:37 am #77340
Holy Moly! I’m going to bask in my glory for as long as I can, because I can already see this week is going to fall quite a bit shorter of the mark. Thanks, Amatino!
LBH, hope things are looking up for you this week!
-
05/12/2020 at 10:55 am #77342
@Amatino that sounds perfect!
-
05/18/2020 at 8:50 am #77500
Only 6 for me this week, ugh.
-
05/18/2020 at 9:27 am #77501
I managed 18.
This week, though, I have a few things outside of eBay that I have to do, so I’m hoping on listing three radios that I have ready to go. If I get those three done, I’ll be happy enough.
-
05/18/2020 at 9:34 am #77502
Just 3 for me this week. I was in eBay Jail, which was demotivating, so I got stuck into my paperwork and cleared my desk. Wait.. desk? I have a desk? Woohoo! 😉
I’ll get back to work this week and bring my listing numbers back up. Wishing everyone a great week!
-
05/18/2020 at 10:23 am #77504
30 listings for me this week. I think I’ve emptied 5 death pile boxes since the quarantine started in Mid-March. I think I have 6 or 7 more to go but they’re all pretty large so I will probably not be emptying them quite at the same pace. Feels great every time I’m able to start on another box. Every box has had 1 or 2 higher end items that has made it worth it.
-
05/18/2020 at 11:07 am #77508
Forgot to mention I had another two sales from my auction items, so I’m up to three sales for my May Challenge. One was the item I ended last week because it had free shipping, and it sold this week. Makes me laugh – it has been up for two years on GTC, but it sells immediately on auction!
3 down, 7 more to relist for another week’s auction.
-
05/18/2020 at 1:47 pm #77526
I had two items sell on auction this week, but neither of them were part of the challenge. I think I will be totally out done on my own challenge. Really, though, the idea was to share a tactic I use to get rid of older inventory.
Question on June’s challenge: Can we get more than one entry to the June challenge if we have more than one box? I know of three boxes (one is kind of a pile) that I could enter.

05/18/2020 at 11:15 am #77510
Only 10 for me last week, but I changed my weekly listing goal to 10 so I did make my quota. Since I’m not able to source now I’ve decided to slow my listing in order to make my death piles last longer. If things change around sourcing for me I may up my weekly listing goal again, but for now 10 a week works. It was hard for me to let go of the 2020 Challenge but the pandemic has made that lofty goal impossible for me 🙁
Surprisingly EBay sales finished strong for me yesterday, it figures that would happen now that I’m running out of stuff to list 🙂
Little Blue House, I hope there aren’t any more house disasters for you, it’s really hard when troubles all come at once!
Wishing everyone a great week, stay safe out there!
-
05/18/2020 at 11:42 am #77513
I listed 28 items, but only 19 unique items. Have my box out from the bottom of the piles to do next.
-
05/18/2020 at 2:42 pm #77530
22 this week! House is finally coming together and will hopefully be able to move back in this weekend!!
-
05/19/2020 at 10:51 am #77568
Spreadsheet updated. Libby wins again, even though she’s out of consignment items. The woman is magic, I tell you, creating listings out of thin air! 😀
@Sharyn, I had to think about your question real hard and I think the answer has to be no. Every Challenge is geared to high listers – the one who lists the most, wins. The idea for this Challenge is to make it an even playing field, so that low listers have a chance to win for a change. If high listers get multiple entries, then the game is skewed towards high listers again, which takes away the whole point of the format. Yeah? It was a tough call for me, as I want to reward effort, but I worked it through in my mind (okay, out loud, but I’ve been told it’s crazy to talk to yourself!) and I have to keep the end goal in mind.Does anyone else want to weigh in on this?
-
05/19/2020 at 12:15 pm #77573
Sure, what you are saying makes sense. I’ll pick one of the boxes and go with that. Perhaps I will get to one of them this month anyway.
-
-
05/19/2020 at 12:18 pm #77575
45 listings for me last week. Sorry for the late posting but I had lots of distractions yesterday. I haven’t sold anything more from the auction challenge so I still have 3 sold and 7 going this week.
I’m excited about the June challenge and am setting my own personal goal. I have, ahem, four areas in my home, garage and storage that are death piles. No excuses, just the fact that I like to scavenge MUCH more than I like to list. So my personal goal for June is to list a box from each of my four areas. It will put a very small dent in them, but a dent is a dent. I very much like the idea of the playing field being even so everyone gets a chance at points, so I will be happy to get one entry for the month, once I get my first box done. I think we all do a great job at cheerleading each other when we achieve our own goals and projects, and that’s reward enough for me.
Although I do see a chance to win a week here and there, now that Libby is running out of consignment items to list. (evil grin)

05/22/2020 at 3:54 pm #77704
haha! you might be right!

-
05/19/2020 at 2:17 pm #77581
I am absolutely sure that Libby will be able to pull a rabbit out of a hat and that she’ll keep on keeping on, but time will tell!
The June challenge starts June 1st right? So no go on prepping ahead of time? I’m really tempted to look in my remaining boxes now and pick the least heinous one. The boxes that I have left are unlisted for a reason; there’s some crazy crap in there! I guess I need someone to tell me not to peek ahead of time…
I did list one auction because I thought it might go for more than I figured. It didn’t get bid up but it did sell for my asking price (what I figured it was worth) so I’m fine with that.
-
05/19/2020 at 2:48 pm #77583
Sorry to be posting late this week. I have been out of town for a few days. This also impacted my listing number, but I was able to complete 16 new listings this week.
Have a great week everyone!
-
05/19/2020 at 8:31 pm #77586
We’re not allowed to peek? Darn! I was in my shed today, taping cardboard to the windows as my inventory is getting sun damage, and looking around at all my boxes with some horror! I’m even more traumatized that my smallest boxes are packed full of hundreds of sewing machine feet, that would need to be unpacked, identified, and sorted by type. For once, the smallest box in my stash is NOT going to be my selection for the June Challenge!
Oh, and this was my listing buddy today. I wonder if that had any bearing on my quitting early?

Ugh that spider looks big.
Bottom box contents I’m happy to report that I finished the bottom box from the front row of piles. Yeah! My day job is dead this week so trying to list a lot before the holiday weekend.
-
05/21/2020 at 5:03 pm #77656
Congrats, ChristineR! It’s a great feeling to start clearing DPs.
According to Himself, it’s a Wolf Spider. Good bug hunters, no kill um. Scary little duckers, if you ask me, but I left him alone. I have to admit this article freaked me out some (no, I’m NEVER getting close enough to count the eyes!) but it was pretty informative. And, while they show cute little furry spiders in the palm of their hand (seriously? are they kidding?) I’ve seen them on my screen door big enough to cover the ENTIRE palm of my hand! They’re often mistaken for tarantulas. Which, yes, we have here too!
I think I’m gonna establish a second chicken coop down by my cabin. They’re incredible pest control! We have very few pests around the house.

Happy Memorial Day!
13 new listings for me.
Wishing everyone a great week!
-
05/25/2020 at 10:46 am #77778
59 items, the consignments are rolling back in . . . sorry! Took a rare day off yesterday, so nice. Now it is time to get moving again!
-
05/25/2020 at 11:03 am #77780
Hey folks, hope you’re all good.
Only 7 listings for me this week. It was hot at the beginning of the week, I was sure I was going to turn into a puddle of goo! Fortunately, the hubs installed the air conditioner in my cabin this weekend, so I just have to wait for the a/c guy to come and do the flaring and I’ll be one cool cat doing lots of listings.
Yay!
With a moment of silence for our Fallen Heroes… wishing you all a great week ahead!

05/25/2020 at 11:38 am #77783
I listed 33 items, 26 unique. I realized after posting that photo that I didn’t list the thimbles – something I haven’t sold before. I have a whole collection. Does anyone know off the top of your head if they might be worth listing individually? Will need to address so I can claim box done.
-
05/26/2020 at 8:14 am #77807
I have listed thimbles individually, and people can combine as they like. I had better luck this way, but I also don’t mind listing and shipping low dollar value items because I believe more sales, makes more sales.

44 for me. Thanks for the Memorial Day reminder, Amatino.
-
05/25/2020 at 2:38 pm #77788
13 listings for me. I took a little break from listing clothes to list hard goods. None of the hard good items I’m finding in my death piles has been very interesting yet except for a victorian picture frame from the 1800s. The photo inside was a tintype photo (printed on little sheets of metal). The one I found isn’t a valuable one but it was an interesting discovery and I learned something new.
-
05/25/2020 at 3:00 pm #77790
69 listings for me. Sales have slowed down so I have more time for other things. I haven’t sold anything more on the auction challenge, so still at 3 sales.
I’m both excited and apprehensive about the challenge for next month. I started poking around in the first death pile and ye gads I have a lot of stuff…cool stuff for the most part, but gulp, a lot. So it’s a good challenge for me. I get too caught up in listing the easy stuff like fabric, when I have all these cool vintage treasures waiting for a new home.
I know we talked about Christmas in July for the July challenge and I am excited about that too. And I have another challenge to suggest, when we need another.
Have a great week everyone.
-
05/25/2020 at 4:16 pm #77794
13 listings for me. I noticed that sales are slowing down, maybe the party is over? Regardless, it’s time to list more items than ever, so we will be ready when the next one starts.
Have a great week everyone.
-
05/25/2020 at 7:49 pm #77800
3 listings. I made videos for two of them, so there’s that.
-
05/26/2020 at 8:10 am #77806
Cool, what kind of listings do you have videos for?
-
05/26/2020 at 8:24 am #77808
They are vintage Zenith Trans Oceanic multi-band radios which I sell at $100 or more, at least for the working ones. I had one partially working and one working that I did videos to showing the condition. I did not do a video for the non-working one.

Sorry for the late response. I didn’t do any listings last week. I thought we were going to be able to get back into our house again, and again it fell through. This whole thing has been a nightmare and I am ready for it to end!

05/26/2020 at 1:48 pm #77816
ChristineR: I’ve also listed thimbles individually, and also in lots if I have several in a series like state flowers, or all of one kind like made from wood. I list lots if the individual thimbles aren’t worth much. But like Libby I will list low dollar items, I’ll go as low as $6.00, just to generate sales. I also believe that more sales generate more sales.

Sorry for the late posting folks. Spreadsheet updated: Vintage Lacy wins this week!
Thing is, last Thursday night I went into ER, and by 3AM on Friday I was in hospital for an emergency appendectomy. I’m over 50 and a few pounds overweight and my bounce back has been less rubber ball and more lead balloon. Man, this is a major hit! I am struggling badly to cope with the pain and recovery. However, I felt much better, after another pain-wracked sleepless night, to find a sports forum (think young, strong athletic types) where they were wailing the same issues. I learned that 4 to 5 days of feeling like you’ve been kicked in the gut by an angry Clydesdale is utterly normal, (some folks said it took ten days to settle!) and that I’m not such a wimp after all. Most of the folks posting on this sports forum were on the good stuff (Vicodin/Percocet) and still feeling K.O.’d, while I’m working through it on Aleve and Tylenol. Allergic to opioids. Lucky me!
On Monday I got up to post my numbers and tried really hard to have a positive attitude, but it lasted less than 30 minutes and knocked me down for another day. Today I’m up again and feel weak and useless, doubled over like an old woman and panting with the pain. Honestly, this sucks mud and old gym socks!
I’ve got to contact eBay and send them my hospital records, so that they can put that against my defects for late shipping, and I’ve got orders to pack, but I doubt I’m going to have any listing numbers this week.
Wishing you all a fantastic, healthy week!
-
05/27/2020 at 12:24 pm #77827
Awww Amatino, I’m sorry to hear that you’re still in pain! Hopefully you’ll feel better soon and put this all behind you.
-
05/27/2020 at 1:08 pm #77828
Amatino – I’m not sure how it works, but I think eBay is not counting late shipments against the sellers because of COVID. So, if you had to have the issue, maybe you had good timing?
-
05/27/2020 at 1:38 pm #77829
Amatino- I am sorry to hear that what a bummer. Take care and don’t sweat ebay or the challenge, just focus on getting yourself healthy again.
-
05/27/2020 at 11:15 pm #77865
Take good care of yourself. That’s rotten luck!
-
05/28/2020 at 6:31 am #77868
Amatino, I hope you feel better soon!
-
05/29/2020 at 5:51 pm #77920
Amatino, so sorry for your illness woes! I truly hope that by today you have started feeling better. You had major surgery and that’s nothing to sneeze at (literally), so expecting to be up and about so quickly was probably overly optimistic. I sure wish you could have taken pain meds though. There’s times when drugs are a very good thing. The silver lining is that you don’t have to wean yourself back OFF the drugs as that can be an ordeal in itself.
If it makes you feel any better, my younger brother had that same surgery when he was in his 30s and running marathons and in the best shape of his life and it still kicked his rump. It’s hard realizing that we’re not Wonder Woman!
Take care…I have great faith you’ll be back to yourself soon.

Hello Challengers,
Happy June! 10 new listings for me.
Wishing you all a great week ahead!
-
06/01/2020 at 9:36 am #77986
Amatino I hope you are feeling better by the time you read this.
I listed 39 items, 32 unique.
-
06/01/2020 at 10:10 am #77987
Happy June, y’all. I am excited about this month’s challenge. I’m going to back off fabric (to a point) and work on my death piles, which is long overdue. I sold 3 items in total from the May challenge, all in the first week. It was an interesting experiment. I listed 60 items last week.
-
06/01/2020 at 12:59 pm #77998
Oh, I sure hope you are feeling better. I am so sorry you are having these troubles. I have 49 new listings this week. My numbers keep getting lower, LOL!
-
06/01/2020 at 1:54 pm #77999
Amatino – I do hope you are doing better after a week of recovery, and we hear from you soon. I know you had a few sales for the May challenge, so get those numbers up!
I listed 4 items this past week.
I still only have the one item I sold for my own May challenge. I had other items sell on auction, but only one that I had added for the challenge.
For the June challenge, I have a box of vintage clock radios. Initially, I thought that I’d figure out how to repair them, buy a soldering iron and whatever I needed, and sell them as I fixed them up. Then I got a job, and, even though it is part time, I really don’t have the time to figure all that out. So, for the challenge, I need to test them to see if the different parts work (the clock, alarm, and radio), and then list them as-is. I’ve got two boxes of them (maybe 15 radios?), but one sitting on top will be for the challenge and the second would be icing on the cake!
-
06/01/2020 at 3:27 pm #78000
Amatino – Best wishes for a speedy recovery! I always felt like the 3rd day after any surgery, was always the worst, so hopefully by now you are on the upswing!
28 items for me this week.
-
06/01/2020 at 3:30 pm #78001
Hi Amatino, hope you are on the path to a speedy recovery.
Only 5 items for me this past week. I sold a total of 4 items in the challenge.
-
06/01/2020 at 4:34 pm #78002
Hello! I hope you are feeling better Amatino.
I listed 5 items this past week BUT we finally got the house back in order and we are moving back today. So thrilled to be home. The house is still a work in progress, but at least I can live here now.
-
06/01/2020 at 4:41 pm #78003
Hi Amatino!
I hope you are feeling better.
Just 7 listings for me this week. -
06/01/2020 at 11:35 pm #78010
Hey folks, thanks for all the good wishes. No, unfortunately, things have gotten worse. I’ve had a battery of more tests and I’ve been referred to a new specialist. I’ve turned off my store for the time being as I can’t even walk due to the pain. Yup, zero listings this week. I’m such a slacker! 😉
Please do keep posting numbers. I’ll catch up the spreadsheet as soon as I can. I’ll try to check in every week.
My totals for the May Challenge is 3 sold out of the 10 items.
Don’t know if I’ll manage the June Challenge. But I hope you all get to so a box! Remember, any boxes you did before today do not count. It has to be a box you empty in June.
Hey, just had a fun idea! Post a photo of the box you’re going to empty! Mine is going to be the size of a matchbox if I can get back on my feet! LOL.
Looking forward to seeing what you guys post. Vicarious eBay seller here! Ha!
-
06/02/2020 at 5:21 pm #78041
Oh no!!! Sending you lots of positive vibes and get well wishes, Amatino!
-
-
06/02/2020 at 10:22 pm #78047
Amatino, things just seem to happen you. And, usually it isn’t just one thing at a time. I hope the doctors figure you out and you get back to being you soon. 🤢
For the May challenge:
Junque Redux is in first place with 4 sales!
Vintage Lacy & Amatino are tied for 2nd/3rd with 3 sales!
And I had just the one sale.I don’t know how the points go, so can you take it from here?
-
06/02/2020 at 10:27 pm #78048
For the June challenge, you wanted photos, so see below. The first photo is a box with six vintage clock radios. One says not to plug it in, so I will definitely sell it for parts/untested. The second photo shows that there is a second box underneath it. I’m thinking that it has more than the six clock radios, but I’m not sure how many.
So my goal will be to list all the clocks in the first box with a stretch goal of the second box.
-
06/04/2020 at 12:40 pm #78095
Hey folks! Spreadsheet updated and Vintage Lacy grabs the win!
@Sharyn Points for May Challenge added.Ok, folks, June Challenge time! Grab a Death Pile box – any box, any size. This month’s Challenge is doing a box! Post a photo of your selected box here, just for added fun. List all items in that box. For you listing demons, you may list as many boxes as you like, but you will only get one entry. The reason for this is to give even the slowpokes a chance at winning a challenge. Yup, all you listers in MY camp, we get a shot! This month’s winner will be by lucky draw, and the only thing you have to do to get an entry is list all the contents from one box in your Death Piles! C’mon, easy peasy!
Advise when you’ve emptied a box, and I will immediately add a 1 to the Challenge under your name. At the end of the month, lucky draw selects the winner. Hey, all y’all who’ve sat back in the months prior… it’s the middle of the year! One box. One piddly little box. Let’s do this!
-
06/07/2020 at 1:41 pm #78151
85 this week, it will be fun to watch the challenge. I don’t have any boxes, I did them at the beginning of the pandemic, but I will love watching! I sure hope you are feeling better and I will keep you in my heart for some healing.
-
06/08/2020 at 9:32 am #78175
29 for me. Still deciding on which box to tackle!
-
06/08/2020 at 10:27 am #78183
It was a huge family drama week for me…some great (a landmark birthday for my mom which was celebrated in great style) and some very bad (an elder abuse intervention for another family member) and it took up the majority of my time.
12 listings for me and not even an attempt to tackle the death pile box. Oh how such great plans are laid to waste. This week WILL be better.
-
06/08/2020 at 10:38 am #78185
Vintage Lacy – a big happy birthday to your mom! And, sorry to hear about your troubles. So good of you to intervene.
Other the other hand, it give me a chance to tie 🙂 I listed 12.
-
06/08/2020 at 10:41 am #78186
I listed 21 items, 20 unique. I didn’t take a photo because it’s all Starbucks mugs, so not that interesting. I have three more to go from the death pile box and another box of that lined up. It feels really good to get traction on the piles.
-
06/08/2020 at 10:48 am #78187
Thanks Sharyn…and my mom sends thanks too.
I couldn’t NOT intervene, if you know what I mean. My brothers and I were ON IT, once we figured out what was going on. What a sad and horrifying mess.
Thanks for the laugh!! I needed that this morning. 🙂
-
06/08/2020 at 11:30 am #78189
Just 5 listings for me this week. Time to step it up this week!
-
06/08/2020 at 11:51 am #78190
37 for me. This week I started posting some items to Poshmark. It’s so much simpler and faster than listing on eBay. But alas, my heart belongs to Ebay so a majority of my time will be spent there.
-
06/08/2020 at 12:32 pm #78192
Ouch, only 6 new listings for me. I think this may be my lowest listing week since I joined the challenge in 2018! I don’t really have a valid excuse, I just have a lot going on. I’m preparing for a relative to move in with us for 2 months starting in July and since I’ll be on vacation the last week of June I’m trying to get the prep done early.
Vintage Lacy: Happy Birthday to your Mom! What an emotional week you’ve had, I wish you peace and serenity this week. And I’m with you on your vow to make this a better listing week.
Wishing everyone a great week, especially Amatino. I’m thinking of you and sending positive vibes for good health!
-
06/08/2020 at 2:55 pm #78198
8 new listings this week, but a lot has been going on. I hope everyone is well
-
06/10/2020 at 12:51 pm #78301
Spreadsheet updated. Libby decided she gave y’all enough leeway and galloped in for another win. LOL
Zero for me. I’m still lying around like a slug and groaning miserably. Of course, all groaning is utterly pointless, as this household believes if you’re looking for sympathy, you’ll find it in the dictionary between shit and syphilis. 🙂
I’m on my 3rd surgeon now and have two more procedures scheduled, so fingers crossed they find out what’s going on and how to fix it.
Wishing you all a great week!
-
06/14/2020 at 5:18 pm #78417
oh Amatino! I hope you are feeling a bit better, that is terrible and I am wishing you the best.
I have 83 for the week and my daughter graduated Tuesday. It was certainly bittersweet for many reasons, but we made the best of it. Here is to a great week . . .cheers! -
06/15/2020 at 9:53 am #78433
I finally got stuff (somewhat) under control and buckled down. Listed 40 items this week!!! I did go through one death box, but I didn’t take a picture before, it also caused me to start a different death box. WITH THAT SAID – I plan on having a “pay what you feel is fair” yard sale the next nice weekend with that stuff. I have made more money with those yard sales and they are highly entertaining.
-
06/15/2020 at 10:22 am #78436
8 new listings for me this week, so better than last week, but not by much. It’s not the number I was hoping for this week, but it is what it is.
Wishing everyone a good week ahead!
-
06/15/2020 at 11:28 am #78444
@Amatino I hope it was a better week for you.
I was super into listing this week and did 59 listings, 55 unique. I did make one mistake that I know of on shipping somehow with weight, so I hope I don’t find out about any more of that since I use Terapeak and then sell similar a lot lately.
-
06/15/2020 at 12:46 pm #78446
Another stressful drama-filled week but I did do 18 listings, which is an improvement over the previous week and plan to be back to normal numbers this week….hitting my goal of 40. Haven’t touched my June challenge death pile box yet so sure am glad we have a whole month for the challenge. I think my mistake was being overly uppish on getting 4 death pile boxes done for the month. Ha! Double Ha!
Amatino, my poor cherie, sending you all good wishes for better days ahead.
-
06/15/2020 at 4:24 pm #78456
Amatino – I sure hope you’re feeling much better this week!
10 for me this week. It’s been a hair pulling stressful week. Hope things calm down within a week or so.
-
06/15/2020 at 5:11 pm #78457
My week started out really super busy because of my part time job and stayed busy because of very good sales on eBay. I did not list anything. Give me a big zero.
I haven’t done much with the June challenge yet, either, but I did take a look and realized that I need to do a little cleaning before I bring the radios upstairs.
Amatino – I hope that you are doing better. Between three different surgeons, you would think someone would figure it out. I’m so sorry that you have to deal with more procedures, but, hopefully, they get it right and you start to feeling better.
-
06/16/2020 at 10:36 am #78489
Thanks for all the well wishes, guys! Spreadsheet updated, Libby wins again, most convincingly!
Libby, congratulations to your daughter for her graduation.
LittleBlueHouse, glad you got your home sorted out. It has been quite the year for you, hasn’t it? Hope that’s the last of it.
It seems a lot of you have had a rough week. Really sorry to read that. Sending you best wishes for a better week this week.
Still zero for me. Last week I got to the hospital and checked in, I said I was in for my MRE. The lady said “you mean MRI.” I told her no, Magnetic Resonance Enterography – MRE. She looked at me squiff, then checked her board and said “Oh, my goodness! I’ve never heard of that!” Great start! They make you drink a truck load of the foulest concoction on the planet, wait for it to work its way through, and then do the MRI. The tech said I was lit up like a Christmas tree. Yay, Christmas in June. 🙁 I’m still waiting on results.
However, some of you who have been with me for a while know that I can’t sit still. Being laid up in bed was torture. So I hand sewed the flanged, two-tone binding on my king-size, 110″ square quilt. Accompanied by my faithful sidekick.
https://imgur.com/xUEiMiRI’m still stuck in bed, though, and the binding is finished. So now I’m hand piecing a new quilt, because… why not? I finished my first block yesterday. It’s surprisingly fun.

06/16/2020 at 3:07 pm #78496
Amatino- I hope you start getting better soon. I like your quilting projects, what a cool hobby.
Just 3 for me this week. I was camping off the grid for 3 days and planned to get more listing done before I left, but it didn’t happen.:(
-
06/16/2020 at 6:42 pm #78498
Thanks, Utahbill. Any time you want to start, let me know. I’ve got a ton of really cool tips and hacks for budget beginnings.
-
06/16/2020 at 9:44 pm #78501
Thanks Amatino, but I have too many hobbies as it is and have no manual dexterity.
-
-
06/22/2020 at 9:51 am #78655
Wow Amatino, love the photos and glad you are keeping busy. I hope your results are in now and you have some relief.
I have 37 new listings this week. Got some new piles of consignment, so I better get to work! Have a great week. -
06/22/2020 at 10:18 am #78658
I listed six items. Three were clock radios from the death pile box challenge.
I have four more lined up and ready to go, and, if I get those up this week, I will have completed that box. I have my parents in town this week, so I’ll be happy if I can get that done!
-
06/22/2020 at 10:41 am #78659
Another tumultuous week. 18 listings done. Didn’t even glance at the death pile box.
-
06/22/2020 at 10:59 am #78661
8 for this past week and I’m going to already say 0 for the next two. I’m going to be out of town so I won’t have any listing done.
-
06/22/2020 at 11:25 am #78662
Hi all, unfortunately I didn’t list anything this week. I did work on cleaning and organizing my garage, including some ebay inventory consolidation. Needed to move instead of working at the computer. However, I did already list two death piles boxes of mugs in June.
-
06/22/2020 at 11:52 am #78665
10 for me. Made my goal using the Pomodoro Technique, I found it very helpful.
Best wishes to all for a peaceful and calm week. And good health for Amatino!
-
06/22/2020 at 5:08 pm #78672
Bravo on the Pomodoro technique. I am familiar with it and will try using it to improve my listing rate.
-
-
06/22/2020 at 5:05 pm #78671
Just 2 listings for me this week. No excuses. I will just do better this week.
-
06/22/2020 at 5:35 pm #78678
5 for me, not including items I copy and pasted from ebay over to Poshmark.
This week should be a good one listing-wise – I just received a 33 lb box of brand new inventory that I’m excited to listing. Starting on it riiiiiiiiggghhhht NOW!
-
06/22/2020 at 6:55 pm #78682
0 for me. I think I forgot to post the week before, it was likewise a very forgettable 0. Already improved on that today.
-
06/23/2020 at 4:35 pm #78702
Hey folks, still a zero from me.
Spreadsheet updated, Libby wins. Bet you didn’t expect that! *wink*
Okay, some admin.
1. June Challenge – the Death Pile Box
Come ON folks. Just one box. One box of any size or weight or shape. Surely you can do just one teeny box this week? I dare you. I double dog dare you!2. Thread #2 end
This will be the last week in this thread, as after Monday’s results next week, I will create Thread #3 for the third quarter. This is a great time to “clean house” and revisit your listing goals. Is your goal number too high? Too low? Let me know and I can adjust it going forward. Do I have any numbers incorrect? Did I misspell your name? Always good to start a new thread with a clean up of the old spreadsheet and a revision of goals.3. July Challenge
Christmas in July was suggested by Vintage Lacy in Reply Post #74915 of Thread #1 and yes, I had to go search for it to see who was responsible. VL – will you consider how you want to put the Challenge together? You’ll need to post that on July 1st.Have a great week, y’all!
-
06/27/2020 at 12:55 pm #78793
Hi All!
Posting early because I’ll be out of town on Monday.
8 new listings for me.
Happy 4th of July! -
06/28/2020 at 8:24 am #78807
Greetings, 43 for this week, including a few that sold quickly (yeah! most of my items are longtail).Hope you all have a great week, see you on the new thread! I don’t have any points for the challenge, but I am excited for Christmas in July!
-
06/29/2020 at 7:58 am #78834
17 for me. I cleaned out a couple of boxes but didn’t get to the one that I had specifically identified for the challenge.
-
06/29/2020 at 10:21 am #78840
13 listings for me this week. I better list early this week since we are going camping over the 4th of July and I will not be able to list then.
-
06/29/2020 at 10:46 am #78842
31 for me. I listed more than I realized this week, I love it when that happens.
-
06/29/2020 at 11:06 am #78845
14 for me, 12 unique. 3 boxes of piles finished on the June challenge. Hoping to list this week. I was kind of fatigued as I haven’t been sleeping well. The knowledge that the spikes could have been avoided, plus some other stuff is kind of weighing on me I think. I hope those of you have struggles are doing better this week. I listed some cool vintage linens and I think I will work on art next. I think most or all of my Christmas is already listed.
-
06/29/2020 at 5:03 pm #78859
4 for me – but I’m getting stuff ready for a yard sale on Saturday and just reorganizing how I process everything. I hope you are feeling better!
-
06/29/2020 at 6:14 pm #78867
I listed 10, which included items from my one death pile box. So, I’ve completed a box and I’m in for the June challenge!
-
06/30/2020 at 4:17 am #78888
22 for me, including 10 in a death pile box. Clunky awkward things that I have been procrastinating on forever, so your double dog dare did the trick Amatino. One death pile box listed…..check.
I’ll post the Christmas in July challenge tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great week.
-
06/30/2020 at 11:08 am #78901
Good morning, y’all!
Last week of this thread. Am I correct that only ChristineR, Sharyn, and Vintage Lacy completed June Challenge boxes?
VL, if you’d post the Christmas in July in the new thread?
Spreadsheet updated, Libby wins again.
Remember, please, if you want to change your listing goals, now is a good time.
-
07/03/2020 at 12:21 pm #79045
Okay, only 3 participants in the draw for the June Challenge. Numbering in alphabetical order
1. ChristineR
2. Sharyn
3. Vintage LacyI used Random.org’s Roll Dice feature, selected 1 die, and rolled a four, then a six, then a one
https://www.random.org/dice/?num=1ChristineR wins the June Challenge!
Then I rolled a five, and a one again, and a two!
Sharyn gets second place, VL gets third. Have updated the spreadsheet with the results.
-
07/03/2020 at 12:33 pm #79046
Thanks Amatino…feeling a bit better every day. Tidying up notes: you gave me 3 points for the June challenge and I should only get one, and it appears that the personal challenge hasn’t clicked over into week 26?
-
07/03/2020 at 4:22 pm #79051
Thanks VL. Good catch.
I blame the meds! 😀
