We also charge sales tax (Michigan) in addition to purchase price and shipping costs. I have had only one grumble in the last 3 years and I handled it the same way as ebaymom, I just paid it for the buyer. The amount of items I sell to my home state is probably less than 5% of my total sales.
I agree, I definitely think it is a water crock. Also good for iced tea and lemonade. Your spigot is missing which would probably hurt the value unless you can find one to replace it before you list. I think it’s a modern take on an older item. Great find!
I agree completely…it’s something we should not have to deal with since the information has already been supplied. I do make every effort to list the country because I have also heard that it can make a difference on what the buyer is charged, but I’ve also heard that the package is more likely to be opened at the global shipping center if that is not provided. Maybe they have to try and find the country, not really sure. Whilst I’m griping, why in the world are we still having to check every listing with the mobile friendly checker that works about 20% of the time? Shouldn’t that have been incorporated by now??
I dropped the prices by 5% on seven items as suggested. It made no difference whatsoever.
From the seller hub, click on the “listings” tab. In the top area under “manage active listings” there is a search box (mine defaults to “all listing states”. That is actually a drop down box, so click on that and you will see “with offers”. If you select “with offers” and then search, you can see both offers you’ve received and counter offers sent.
It is an Old English Sheepdog.
One recommendation I would have is to get your store categories broken down, ie, women’s tops and blouses, women’s dresses, etc. Right now if a buyer clicks on your store, it’s all grouped together under “other” so they have to look through everything. In my personal experience, I have very little luck with most women’s clothing…my thought is that women like to try things on. I do have good luck with women’s coats, shoes and boots. I concentrate more on men’s clothing and have very good luck. My best brands for good returns on my investment are Carhartt, Duluth Trading Co., L.L. Bean and Harley-Davidson. We also have luck selling larger men’s, 2XL and larger. Your photos look very professional and you seem to be heading in a good direction. Throw in some tools and hunting gear too! Best wishes to you!
We (hubby and me) started selling online in 1999, but we started on yahooauctions. eBay was fairly new and we felt it to be a little intimidating then, so our first eBay sale wasn’t until 2001. Back then it was kinda great to go to the mailbox every day and see all the checks, money orders, and sometimes cash! We also were fearless back then and put EVERYTHING on auction starting at .99. We never had any worries because things ALWAYS sold for at least what we thought they were worth and lots of times for more. Boy, you sure can’t do that today! Our first payment processor was X.com which I believe was eventually bought out by PayPal. And our first digital camera was also the Sony Mavica!! It truly was a good little camera and in my opinion, took much better pictures than our current camera (or maybe we were just more familiar with it!). Cheers to all the “long tail” sellers!
PDX_Cyndy – are you a quilter? Those materials would make awesome quilts! My great great grandmother made a baby quilt for me when I was born made entirely out of pink satin corsets! It is gorgeous. I think your fabrics would be too!
Just stumbled across this information today purely by accident…apparently there is a way to appeal these charges:
“If you’ve received an adjustment on your postage and believe that it’s incorrect, you can contact U.S. Postal Service® Customer Care at 1-844-819-5187 or verifypostagehelp@usps.gov. Generally, you can expect a response within 5-15 business days.”
02/05/2018 at 4:45 pm in reply to: Late shipping seller performance doesn't seem to be accurately reading tracking #32199Tracking on my items shows picked up by USPS within 24 hours (1 day handling), has full tracking and shows as delivered. If I’m understanding paragraph 2 correctly, buyer would have had to say item arrived after estimated date…but how are they telling eBay that? They have not left feedback yet. Personally, I have never received an email from eBay asking if I received an item on time, and I probably purchase 2 – 3 times a week. On my purchases page, if my item shows delivered and I go to leave feedback for the seller, I can’t even respond on shipping.
02/05/2018 at 1:32 pm in reply to: Late shipping seller performance doesn't seem to be accurately reading tracking #32169Hi guys – I’ve been dwelling on this (grrrr) and I don’t think my buyers could have said late delivery because neither of them have left feedback yet…isn’t that the only way they can do that? Anyone know of another way?
Hi Joe – just had the same thing happen to me…see my post under late shipping seller performance.
02/05/2018 at 12:16 pm in reply to: Late shipping seller performance doesn't seem to be accurately reading tracking #32152I discovered a problem with “late shipment” on my dashboard myself this morning. Two items from last week were purchased one day and shipped the next (I have 1 day handling). Both were delivered on 02/03/18. BOTH buyers (two different) marked it “buyer says late delivery”. I called eBay and was very fortunate to get a guy in Ohio. We looked and looked and looked at everything and all that we can figure is that buyers are seeing an unrealistic time period for “expected delivery date”. For example, my listings (and he looked at them with me) are showing if you purchased them today (02/05), they would be delivered by 02/08 (in my area) and by 02/09 to the eBay reps area (it goes by zip code). So there is ZERO tolerance on delivery date, and both my buyers marked it as late. As I discussed with the eBay rep, that will be happening much more often if that is the case and there is no leeway at all on delivery date. He said he unfortunately could not remove the two “lates” because the buyers marked them as late, but I will be calling again because I think this is probably going to continue happening if there is absolutely no leeway showing on the delivery date. Shouldn’t this just be based on whether or not I shipped when I said I would and not dependent on the post office? I know when I’ve purchased it shows (for example) expected delivery 01/14 and I have always gotten it around 01/10 or so. BTW, I am NOT in the guaranteed delivery program. So is this a glitch? Anyone else showing unrealistic delivery dates on their listings? Are these buyers thinking everything is now guaranteed delivery so they’re going to say it’s late so they can get money back? So frustrating when you try your hardest and they still find some new way to nail you!!
I have lots of Revere Ware pots and pans with copper bottoms and have always taken a lemon, cut in half, sprinkle the half heavily with table salt and scrub the pan. Be sure to rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft towel. Works every time!
