Yesterday I noticed my late shipping percentage had gone up. This didn’t make sense, because I’ve specifically started waiting in line at the post office to get acceptance scans because of problems with my post office not scanning consistently if I just drop off. So I know my packages have been scanned within my handling time. I checked and sure enough the item that eBay said was shipped and delivered late had an acceptance scan within 24 hours which is within my handling time. I called and the eBay representative said he would remove it but it might take 48 hours.
The late defect still has been removed but it hasn’t been 48 hours yet. However today there is another item with the exact same issue. I haven’t yet called about this one. I think I’ll wait another day to see if the other one is removed, so I can ask about both just in case. But I wanted to let others know to double check their seller performance late shipment number, because eBay doesn’t seem to be accurately checking tracking for on-time shipment.

My “Tracking uploaded on time and validated” metric was incorrect for a few days. When I downloaded the report, it said that I had 5 items where there was no carrier scan, which was not true. The issue corrected a few days later and went back to showing 100% upload and validated.

Seems like there are random bugs flying around all over the place. I just finished packing and labelling 5 items for shipment, but one of them is still listed under “orders awaiting shipment,” even though if you click on it, it will tell you that a label has already been printed. Hopefully this will clear up on its own in a few days also.

I had a package show not scanned by carrier. On my page it showed it had been scanned on pickup. I notice slightly different information available threw eBay shipping and USPS site….it was late I was too tired to call…. looked next morning it was gone??

my one incorrectly marked as late shipment that I called about finally was removed, but this morning I had two more so had to make another call. The rep quickly saw that these should not been marked as late and said he’d remove them. But I hope this glitch gets fixed, because it is still a pain to have to call in and get these corrected when automated system should not have been flagging them in the first place.
I have noticed on both of these calls that the reps have had strong Irish accents, so I wonder if eBay has switched some call center support to Ireland? Both reps have been helpful and quick to understand and solve the problem.

I discovered a problem with “late shipment” on my dashboard myself this morning. Two items from last week were purchased one day and shipped the next (I have 1 day handling). Both were delivered on 02/03/18. BOTH buyers (two different) marked it “buyer says late delivery”. I called eBay and was very fortunate to get a guy in Ohio. We looked and looked and looked at everything and all that we can figure is that buyers are seeing an unrealistic time period for “expected delivery date”. For example, my listings (and he looked at them with me) are showing if you purchased them today (02/05), they would be delivered by 02/08 (in my area) and by 02/09 to the eBay reps area (it goes by zip code). So there is ZERO tolerance on delivery date, and both my buyers marked it as late. As I discussed with the eBay rep, that will be happening much more often if that is the case and there is no leeway at all on delivery date. He said he unfortunately could not remove the two “lates” because the buyers marked them as late, but I will be calling again because I think this is probably going to continue happening if there is absolutely no leeway showing on the delivery date. Shouldn’t this just be based on whether or not I shipped when I said I would and not dependent on the post office? I know when I’ve purchased it shows (for example) expected delivery 01/14 and I have always gotten it around 01/10 or so. BTW, I am NOT in the guaranteed delivery program. So is this a glitch? Anyone else showing unrealistic delivery dates on their listings? Are these buyers thinking everything is now guaranteed delivery so they’re going to say it’s late so they can get money back? So frustrating when you try your hardest and they still find some new way to nail you!!

Hi guys – I’ve been dwelling on this (grrrr) and I don’t think my buyers could have said late delivery because neither of them have left feedback yet…isn’t that the only way they can do that? Anyone know of another way?

I seem to remember eBay saying that they check for prompt shipping times three ways:
–The upload scan by the seller
–the scan by the PO
–and they send sellers a message asking “Did you get this package by x date?”

I was under the impression that if the tracking is working that the buyers would never be asked. IE, buyers are only asked in cases where there is no delivery scan.
If you ship on time buyers can’t even use the star system to rate your shipping performance. Why would ebay ask them if the package was on time?

from eBay on their page on seller performance standards:
“Shipments will be considered late only when:Tracking shows item was delivered after the estimated delivery date and there’s no acceptance scan within your handling time or there’s no confirmation from the buyer of on-time delivery, or
Buyer confirms item was delivered after the estimated delivery date and there’s no acceptance scan within your handling time or there’s no delivery confirmation by the estimated delivery date”

Tracking on my items shows picked up by USPS within 24 hours (1 day handling), has full tracking and shows as delivered. If I’m understanding paragraph 2 correctly, buyer would have had to say item arrived after estimated date…but how are they telling eBay that? They have not left feedback yet. Personally, I have never received an email from eBay asking if I received an item on time, and I probably purchase 2 – 3 times a week. On my purchases page, if my item shows delivered and I go to leave feedback for the seller, I can’t even respond on shipping.

since tracking shows picked up by USPS within your handling time, that should be all you need. This is exactly what happened to me–there were acceptance scans within the time but still eBay marked them as late.
Both times I called, I just told the rep that tracking showed post office acceptance within my handling time. And both reps very quickly understood and said that they would remove the late defect from the associated items.
I suggest you call again and hopefully get a better rep. eBay’s rules– as pasted above– say that an item is not considered late if the scan shows shipment within your handling time.

My tracking uploaded on time and late shipment rates have been hammered over the past few months on Ebay. I just had to go in and bulk edit over 8,000 listings to 2-day handling time because I’m concerned it could screw up my account if I keep it on 1-day. I haven’t even been TRS since their new changes to the program several months ago, so it doesn’t matter what my handling time is at this point.
I ship 6 days a week with scan forms. I bring all of my packages directly to the post office, and have an employee at the post office scan the forms and give them back to me with their official postage stamp showing date of shipment. All items are scanned at the point of drop-off.
My current stats:
Late shipment rate – 7.87%
42 of 534 transactions
Tracking uploaded on time and validated – 85.93%
Uploaded late: 74 – 13.70%My detailed buyer feedback rating is 5.0/5.0
A lot of my feedback from customers states “fast shipping.”My stats USED to be 90-95% tracking uploaded on time and validated before the TRS changes. I had a very low late shipment rate. Nothing has changed at all with my shipping methods. I had 1 day handling for years with higher stats that met their TRS expectations.
I just don’t want to deal with the glitches and drama surrounding shipping when absolutely nothing has changed on my end. My handling time is 2 days for Amazon, and according to their stats, my late shipment rate is 0%, and my tracking uploaded on time and validated is 96%. If this new 2 day handling time doesn’t fix the problem for Ebay, I’ll be really confused.

Are the tracking numbers being uploaded by the Post Office? I had a problem a while back, where the tracking was uploaded to the USPS internal site, but not making it to USPS.com, which is where Ebay gets the tracking.
In other words, when you click on a tracking link, is your acceptance accurate. It should show the date and time you dropped it off. If not, you need to talk to the Post Office.
Otherwise it’s probably Ebay’s problem. With all the other people saying they’re having problems, it just may be. It’s seems like the people who have been reporting problems though, were all part of the guaranteed delivery program.
I am not part of the Guaranteed delivery program and my tracking has been 100% accurate. It doesn’t mean it’s related.. just an observation.
Good Luck.

If you contact Ebay and send them the scanned receipts from the Post Office, they should be able to reverse a bunch, if not all of your late shipments.
The worse thing you can do at this point is to ignore the problem.
Good Luck.

i’m not part of the guaranteed delivery program. the majority of items in my store are shipped by media mail (books), so i don’t think i could get into that program if i tried.
i feel like you’re right about calling ebay, but i also don’t want to draw attention to my store having stats that bad, even when it is ebay’s fault. the stats should overall be up by the 20th, during the time of their next evaluation, considering the change in handling time.

I was one of the people with tracking issues but not in guaranteed delivery. So these weren’t connected in my case. I was able to get the late defects removed by calling eBay. But the tracking links on eBay in my case did show acceptance scans within my handling time so was easy to prove this to the eBay reps. I hope the glitch has been fixed so I don’t need to keep calling in — so far so good
