You are a good Daddy to share your interests and dreams with your children. You will teach them to have a good work ethic. A home business makes a hreat educational experience.

Speaking of missing your cats, we have one of those indoor cameras that came with our home security system. I miss the cats so much when we are out of town that I have a hard time leaving them, so now we point the camera at their food dishes so we can watch little recorded video clips of them eating while we are gone. What a couple of chow hounds!
It was a decent but not wonderful week for me on ebay. I got 58 items listed last week thanks to having my helper take photos for four hours. Can’t wait until she can work more hours. π

Thanks for the sympathy. But my husband says I should just wait and see how many listings are actually “removed” because many of them will sell in the next six months. Of the ones that get removed I can evaluate which ones are worth fixing and relisting vs donating for a tax deduction. Plus at that time I can talk to ebay about it if I want to. I am no longer eager to dwell on it. I’m already moving on.
My new employee came today for four hours and photo’d, measured, took notes on Post-Its and attached them to each item after packaging it in a clear plastic bag. I’m fixed up for the rest of the week. (Tablecloths mostly.) She averaged about ten per hour. Not bad for her second time on the job. And I love her dearly–such a delightful person. π
Regarding “free returns”, I only do those on some of my first class postage items, when it looks like that’s a “thing” for similar listings. Not much to lose on those. I am not one to jump on the bandwagon every time ebay comes out with yet another erratic idea. I just watch and wait to see if it works or flops. I’m from Missouri.

Now to follow through with getting well. Always listen to your body–it’s talking to you all the time. A few years ago I became a Sabbatarian. That’s one reason why I like having a home-based business. Resting one day a week is one good prescription for health. I’m convinced we all need to schedule more time to rest and relax, whenever that is. (Americans are such workaholics.) I’m also a big believer in getting enough sleep. I know–that can be a tall order for busy lives! But being healthy and energetic is worth trying. And, as Jay points out, don’t sweat the small stuff. π

I find that if I have a problem it’s better to just stay calm and give it a day’s reflection. The solution comes to you if you don’t panic. It usually works out.

I think I have a watermark on every photo in my store. Ebay decided some time ago to allow watermarks if the met a certain criteria, which they do. Now they changed their mind again? How the heck am I supposed to remove the watermarks without replacing every photo? This may be too much for me to even consider.

I only have my sales tax exemption on file at the local Savers because I buy there a lot. The paper is in a huge notebook they keep under one of the cash registers. I try to get in a checkout line where the manager is working because he knows me by name and knows exactly where to find my page. It’s well worth it to me to save almost 8% on what I buy. Of course you don’t need one for places like church sales, garage sales, and many auctions.
Seriously. Last week a buyer very kindly notified me that the item he bought had snags in the fabric, so I might want to let people know about things like that. I wrote back to let him know that I had not only mentioned the snags in the description but also showed photos of them. Good grief!
Welcome to Trash Elf Kingdom! I can only imagine what an interesting story your 37 year separation then marriage would make. I married the love of my life after being married to someone else first for 25 years. We are on year year 23 and it just keeps getting better every day. π I admire your ability to do two jobs at the same time. You are quite successful!

I have 3 teenaged granddaughters who love clothes and purses. (Of course!) They grew up wearing thrift store clothes a lot because their parents are thrifty. So I routinely pick up things I think they would like when I’m thrifting to give them for birthdays and holidays. I have asked them if they would prefer to receive new with tags clothing from upscale stores but they always say they love their thrifted things best! They sure get more that way.
Yesterday I made a special trip to Macy’s to buy some Clinique makeup while they have a special going. You buy X amount of product to receive a cute make up bag with nice free makeup. I used to save the free makeup that I don’t use to sell on ebay. But now that they all wear makeup they love it when I send them those. Especially now that they live in Hong Kong where everything is so expensive. Tomorrow is the last day of the special so I will return again to buy more.

Where do you waste money and don't care? #23131Last week I mailed out a very bubble wrapped glass item in an ebay box because it was the only box I had that fit it. Of course I was contacted later by the buyer saying it had arrived with a hole in the box and the item was broken. I hate ebay boxes for anything that can possibly break!!!
