By the way, I never put the 1 tsp. Of salt the recipe calls for because the canned corn has plenty of salt. I use half a tsp. Seems like Asian recipes are too salty.
We have family in Hong Kong and Scotland at present. We talk/video/text for free with What’s App. It works perfectly all the time—so much better than anything else we’ve tried. How do they make any money on these free apps??? Of course the person on the other end has to have the same app for it to work. Would be nice if everyone had it!
I don’t know why, but it looks like a green box is covering the top of my recipe post.
I bought an instant pot because everyone here was raving about theirs so much. So far I’m not impressed. It seems like more trouble than just making soup in a soup pot or slow cooking in a slow cooker. I hope someone helps me learn the advantages. In the meantime, soup remains my favorite thing, especially in this cold winter we’re having. I make a pot of soup every Sunday. This is a recipe from a Taiwanese cooking class I took back in the 80’s. It remains my favorite for quick and easy to make, simple and above all delicious:
Asian Chicken-Corn Soup
In a soup pot place one chicken breast with the bones in it, plus 6 whole green onions, and 4 slices of fresh ginger root. Cover with water and bring to a boil. Simmer until chicken is done but not overcooked.
Remove the chicken, cool, debone, then chop or shred the meat. (I boil 2 breasts, keeping the meat from one for other recipes like chicken salad.) Also remove the onions and ginger; discard with the bones.
Return broth to a boil and stir in a mixture of 1/4 cup of cornstarch in 1/4 cup of water. Then add 2 whole cans of creamed corn, 1 tsp. Salt, 1/2 tsp of pepper and stir.
Then slowly stir in one direction in a circle 1 or 2 whipped eggs. (the recipe called for just the whites, but I hate to waste the yolks.) this will make pretty egg ribbons in the soup, plus add protein.
Add the chicken meat, return to a simmer then serve hot with a garnish of thinly sliced green onion tops.
Yay for you, Christine, on being mortgage-free! Maybe we should start a forum topic where people can share their paid-off debts, whether a mortgage or a car loan or a credit card. And I think Steve S. Should start the forum for singles. I predict he would get snapped up in no time!
Why is the alphabet different at Christmas?
It has No L.
The reason only high cost brands “bother” to match up prints is hecause 1. It wastes more fabric to cut out Around a particular pattern which in turn 2. Costs more per hour for man hours.
Put your 4×8 envelope in a Flat Rate envelope. Am I missing something here?
Amen and amen!
My husband and I don’t really buy Christmas gifts for each other. Instead we donate to charity, like Living Waters International. They dig wells in 3rd world countries. Lack of fresh, clean water is the #1 cause of disease and death. Oh, And this year we also donated a goat to someone thru Compassion International. (Happy thought!)

12/25/2017 at 11:28 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 340: We Reconnect with Cyndi from Amazing Taste #29379Your story is so weird because the same thing happened to me this week. I was coming home in my car and saw the mail truck leaving my house. When I looked at the porch I saw all my packages still on the porch—they are in clear view! And I have a sign inside the mailbox to check porch for packages. So I turned around and chased him down around the corner. He apologized and said he saw my sign but didn’t see the pkgs on the porch! He came and picked them up. I have no idea why he couldn’t see them! I was glad I caught him in time.

I had a $150.00 sales item retuned to me by FedEx saying “The House Was Torn Down” after 2 attempts at delivery. I sent an email to The buyer, a doctor in Denver, who said, “I’m building a house. They usually leave packages next door.” Thanks for the heads up. He gave me the neighbor’s address and another $12.50 to re-ship and I got to make another 10 mile round trip to FedEx. I just paid for the shipping on my own business account (it costs the same) hoping it will avoid giving me a delayed shipping defect for printing a new label. Hoping it gets delivered this time. I also insured it both times.
