Thanks, Marjean28, I watched the video, he’s very good. I am no, though, more confused than ever. He’s decided not to use promotions at all. He’ll just price competitively. But his explanation as to why, in relation to the changes in Oct.for the promotion/markdown manager went right over my head.
09/24/2017 at 6:02 pm in reply to: Using a Mannequin or Posing Clothes for EBAY Listings. Which is Better? #23169A few months ago I found a used female mannequin torso, with a stand, on the side of the road. I have always been too cheap (ie: scavenger-minded) to buy one outright. I use it as a men’s mannequin for big bulky mens jackets (you can’t tell). And women’s shirts and jackets (usually vintage). Big difference as far as sales go. I don’t bother with t-shirts… they get the floor.
Now I’d love to find a male one on the side of the road… hitching or something. 😉

Right before your post came in last night, I had just decided to try promoted listings. I did mostly items over $50 at 5%. Sold two items but not through promoted listings (it would list it there, correct, where they list clicks, impressions etc?) I’m giving it a week. So I’ll keep you posted.
You mentioned a way to bulk raise all your listings by a %? Is that through bulk editor?
Business is still terrible, so unexpected, after a great summer.
This is the first I have heard about filtering out restock fees. Are you, Jay & Ryanne, continuing to use restocking fees?
Thanks for your responses. I’m still thinking about what to do – I use markdown manager to run sales throughout the year. I finally paid off the PayPal loan (they take a % of your sales until paid off) and was looking forward to not having to give PP or Ebay any more $. But since the hurricanes (Florida and Texas are my most frequent buyers) sales have dropped about 90%. No end in sight.
08/01/2017 at 4:05 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 320: Spinning Plates, Keeping It All Going #21131I’m just catching up… 😉
A guess on the musicians… Aimee Mann & Michael Penn. Hot, cold, warm?
Oh, and I have a 20% restocking fee. 😉
Retro, Hipster, Collegiate… words like that?
Restocking fee, recently implemented, has been fine for me. Some buyers have been really graceful about it, acknowledge it, and still return for reasons like ‘doesn’t fit’ (on a pair of $400 boots, that was great!). Had one chargeback because I wouldn’t withdraw a restocking fee if returned because of size. Worth going to bat for… we’ll see.
Jay, I think for sellers who have those odd, one in a million, unusual quirky offerings ;)… a restocking fee makes sense, so far. I can’t believe I didn’t do it sooner.
So back to my original question… if 20% restock fee is in my business policy, is this going to hurt me in search results once the update goes into effect?
Jay and Ryanne.. do you still use, and will you continue to have, restocking fees?
😉
Thanks, Jay. 😉
I have lost a couple of sales due to the restock fee. Even if I adjust shipping to help the buyer out a little, money-wise, I still won’t budge, though. “Can I send it back on your dime and not get a restock fee if they don’t fit?” No. 😉
This is so weird…
I got a ‘thank you for submitting a response’ email from paypal, saying I would hear back within 30 days. Signed into PP to grab the customer service # to call back and bitch, and the case wasn’t listed anymore and and the money was put back into my account under buyer’s name) No notice case was resolved, finding the case in my favor etc. Just gone. Did I handle this correctly after all?
I hope all my yada yada helps fellow scavengers, somehow. 😉
?
Hi,
Thanks for your response…
I don’t see an option of sending additional files on the case, once submitted. ;-(Thanks MyCottage… you explained it very well.
I didn’t realize we could give buyers a choice in shipping. Yikes.
