So, if I understand correctly…
I have hundreds of lightweight pieces of clothing that go 1st class to cut down cost to buyers (as opposed to putting everything in a padded Priority). We do better the cheaper the shipping. So now these hundreds of listings will be pushed down in the search if we don’t offer priority on almost everything… yes?
Hi Jay…
I went to the transaction, and I’m available to leave feedback for the transaction. Which would make me this so could the buyer. Hmm….
Here’s what happens…
Add categories in: All Categories > Clothing > Men’s
“You are trying to add subcategories into a category that contains listings. Listings and categories cannot appear at the same level within a category.”I’m trying to add: Shirts, pants, etc in the men’s clothing category. I have added subs before and never got this error. I think. 😉
Thanks for your help, am I getting warm here?
1. Say I now have approx 800 plus items in men’s clothing category. I move all the shirts to the ‘other’ category… in that example, when I set-up the sub cat I will still have men’s clothes in the main category and I would be blocked again.
2. Or do you mean, move everything in my men’s clothing category in bulk (800 to 1000) to ‘other’, then make the sub-categories for men’s as it would now be empty?
eek
Hi Paul….
So if I understand correctly, I move 500 listings to the new subcategory in bulk. Or move them to ‘other’ for example, then make the subcategory, the move them in it?
Very confused….
01/16/2017 at 2:35 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 293: How To Hire Your First Employee #10441Hi guys…
Wanted to share an incident, similar incidents to a couple of things from the podcast:
re: GSP: A few months ago a buyer in Canada wanted to buy a pair lizard skin italian pumps. She tried a few times. Wouldn’t go through. After a few days I guessed that it was the word lizard. I deleted any references to lizard, anywhere in the listing, the buyer was able to order. The shoes were confiscated because, I assume, they were lizard skin, or snake, or whatever. I have no idea on what part of the journey this happened, Kentucky or the border. Ebay let me keep the $ and they refunded the customer…
Also had a neutral feedback. I didn’t have a pair of shoes in stock, they had been sold on Bonanza and somehow stayed on Ebay. I was very apologetic and refunded. A couple of weeks later her feedback was ‘didn’t have items in stock, seller was very nice and immediately refunded.’ But picked Neutral. I sent her a message, asked her to remove the neutral… I went over how sorry I was this happened, and tried to explain how a neutral will stick with a seller etc… and she changed her feedback! Same comment, but positive. 😉T
Use a metal tape measure.
Don’t forget to get the measure of the widest point on the outsole (balls of feet)… when I get lazy and leave it out I get that question often. Oh, and circumference of boot (top opening where your foot goes in) and riding boots need a calf measurement. 😉
My partner mixed up labels a few months ago… the wrong item went to Australia and the package meant to go to Australia went to a buyer in NY. Now THAT was complicated. Oh year, before that my partner (who does the shipping 😉 ) sent a pair of rare high top Converse to Germany, meant to go to Florida. The Florida package went to, you guessed it, Germany. I ended up giving a way a lot of shoes (I have to 1- promise they other party is sending their package back to me (fingers crossed) and that if 2- they did the same, I’d give them their item for free. And I would refund the international shipping if they’d send it without going through Ebay to avoid the defect…
Once a pair of boots when God knows where… the buyer was so distraught I bought her a brand new pair on Amazon and had them sent to her, free.
The cost of doing business and screwing up… 😉
Is there a work around? When I select items on one page, go to a second page and it has de-selected the first page.
I know I’ve done this before ;-). How did I do it, I wonder?
Thanks for your help
12/07/2016 at 12:35 pm in reply to: Dealing with "not as described" (but really buyer's remorse) ebay returns #7522Oh my God… I have been meaning to post about a very similar situation, Ryanne. Long story short… sold True Religion Jeans, new with defects, rear pocket stitches had come out a little. Put this in title, description, photos. etc.
Got a Not as described return. ‘Brought pants to might cleaners and they couldn’t fix them’I called eBay, they said clearly buyers remorse and that I made it very apparent the threads were pulled out. She said okay, the buyer will have to pay return shipping. I was concerned about a defect mostly… she said not to worry.
I get one of those ‘closing case in buyers favor’ emails. Called eBay back… got some weird explanation about this was the first part of the case that closed (??)
When I got the jeans back it didn’t give me any choice to deduct restock fees or original shipping, it was automatically refunded. Called eBay about the defect. No problem. Got another email stating case closed in buyers favor.
Ryanne I listened closely when you spoke about getting defects removed, yeah I thought… but it looks to me I just lost 2 cases, all I managed to do was escalate things… what did I do wrong as far as talking with Ebay about a defect (return postage wasn’t a big deal to me, and I won that, but I lost any ability to charge the restock fee ??)
I started buying shoes for myself way before I started selling them. I get so frustrated when the insole length is not in the listing AT LEAST. Usually when I message the seller they either don’t get back to me, or send me the outsole length having no real idea what I’m talking about. I like to have those details in all my shoe listings (and heel height for heels). Mens shoes and boots I add widest part of sole (outsole) otherwise I get asked for this a lot. All boots shaft and heel height.
