Yeah, we’re assuming we wont have many fresh vegetables till our gardens come in (just planted chard and collard green starters). I wouldn’t risk going out just to get some lettuce 🙂
And like I said, I really believe delivery companies will catch up to orders. There’s no lack of food. People are just panic buying thinking there’s scarcity. All those episodes of the Walking Dead have people on edge.

People are starting to all realize that this is for real. Good news is that we’re not running out of food: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/15/business/coronavirus-food-shortages.html
The current situation just putting stress on delivery. These companies will gladly keep selling everyone food.I think many Americans have always bought food when they needed it, so that’s why we currently see a run on the stores. But eventually everyone will have their shelves stocked and will stop buying extra. Or people realize that shelves keep getting restocked. When the panicked buyer has 400 rolls of toilet paper and sees that stores keep getting resupplied, they’ll chill out.
At our Walmart, there were a couple days last week where people wiped out the shelves. But when we went Sunday for a quick resupply, almost everything was there. (We have no confirmed cases in our county but we’re acting as if there are).
In the mean time, do you have any friends with vehicles? Since you’re not in Manhattan, it would be worth doing one big shopping trip. If you buy the right kinds of food (dried beans, rice, etc), it’ll last for a while until onlne services catch up.

If they lay you off, do you get unemployment?
At the end of the day, each of us can protect ourselves by isolating the best we can. I expect the virus to hit our county in the next month. We plan to just stay inside till it passes.
wow. do you build 1000 piece puzzles and then take photos of it? Unless you really like puzzles, is it worth $20?
Yeah, the Paypal integration doesnt work automatically. What we do is manually sync every day or every couple days. This works. But if you wait too long, Wave cant reach back far enough to sync. As you mentioned, you can also import Payport info.
It really should just sync automatically like all other bank accounts. Its free so I guess there’s no big impetus to fix.
Its fine for now for us, but we’re going to look at Quickbooks Online.
With puzzles, do you only sell sealed boxes? If not, how do you guarantee that all the pieces are there?
Doesnt seem fancy enough to be a professional team. My hunch would be some local org.
Our experience is similar to yours. Strong beginning of the week and slacked off later. I think everyone is still assessing how bad this virus os going to hit daily life. Is it for just a couple weeks or months.
We’re spending time organizing and listing. Tightening our belts. Since we’re always frugal, our daily lives honestly haven’t changed much. Feels like snow days.
Ah, now I understand. Maybe they sent workers home so they werent all in a call center together.
Yeah, eBay has never had dedicated Anchor Support which is disappointing. Or, things are so crazy in their call centers that they need all hands on deck.
Wonder what everyone is calling in about? Maybe sellers asking to get leniency on paying their monthly fees? eBay sellers are actually in a perfect position during the virus because we control and ship our own inventory.
You ask a good question. Did the buyer send the item back? We wouldn’t give a refund otherwise. Or send photos of a broken item that was our fault. If they send the item back through “hassle free returns”, then you can refund through the eBay system.
Not sure. I’ve checked several listings and we don’t have the option to remove a tax on our listngs.
Is this on eBay, or a cross-posting software you’re using?
What page do you see this on? I tried revising an active item and dont see this “add tax” option.
That’s unfortunate. I hope for all of us that these isolation wont last for months.
But Im confused: why close up shop completely? I understand that Canadian Post is more expensive, but yu may still get some sales. Shutting down your store guarantees zero sales.
Yeah, I completely see the siren song of just sending things to Amazon and let them do all the work. When it works, it seems to be intoxicating.
But I also would be hesitant to risk the capital costs of storing inventory at Amazon’s warehouse. Ive read those nightmare scenarios where people get suspended and need to spend thousands to get it all back.
