As easy as it is to do what we all do, I find you really have to have a passion for scavenging and selling. Otherwise everyone (kids to grandmas) lose the plot. There’s something so satisfying about the cycle of finding junk, listing it, selling it, and sending it to a new owner.
I love your passion and always appreciate your posts. That Premium Hoarder find is so incredible. You could almost buy a house with the money you’re making off it!
Nice sales! That $250 starbucks mug is incredible.
That’s a really nice sale! Paid $25 and sold for $250. Did someone just not know what it was worth? It’s wild that items on eBay can be that undervalued.
Same here. 16 items sold. mostly low dollar.
How much was the new Ford Transit?
Sometimes it’s good to reorganize. Creating a workout space is also a nice bonus.
After building up this successful business and creating a steady stream of good income, do you have any goals you’re working towards? I think I remember at one point you wanted to buy a home or property?
Thanks for sharing your experience. It really is an example of being a slave to the algorithm.
Sounds like you’re in a very active Facebook Marketplace area. We find and sell maybe two or three things a month locally. Hearing your stories is inspirational.
You have a lot of patience with your teenagers. We struggle dealing with kids in their 20’s who seem to never have learned how to be detailed oriented and self-motivated. Those skills are so valuable.
Sounds like you’re having fun selling at the flea market. I certainly love scavenging at events and rubbing elbows with all the characters.
I really feel this sentiment. It’s tough to be at the mercy of “the algorithm” but it’s the lay of the land. Like you, we’ve always been focused on finding items for cheap/free. The abundance/waste in this country till exists if you’re creative and enjoy the treasure hunt.
If you can get stuff cheap, you can always make money.
We use Time Away these days. eBay finally now allows you to say when you’ll be back, and then dynamically sets the shipping delay based on that date.
It’s pretty incredible what you’re doing with such a small inventory. You really have an eye for what people want. Out of those 300 items, is it still mainly trading cards? I know you were experimenting with hard goods.
For the kind of stuff we’re selling, I just cant ever imagine having that kind of sell through rate no matter how much we lowered the price.
