Congrats on one year on your own. Sounds like you guys are really doing well and enjoying life. I assume Amazon is now becoming your big focus and where you see growth?
–When you mention some guys making 8 figures on Amazon, that’s $10-million or more. How much of that is actually net profit? Any idea?
–How do you like Quickbooks online? We’ve been thinking about moving to QB for eBay and our rentals, but were concerned how QB would sync with eBay and paypal to help us keep track of sales and shipping costs.
Yeah, that’s just a buyer being grumpy. Just let the automatic unpaid item handler deal with it.
Like Amatino said, you may not being able to get a refund, but most airlines will change the dates, especially if its to a place with a travel warning.
I honestly think it’d be find to travel to Japan. The issue is the way your work is treating you. I assume you cant do your work from home?
Does your company know you’re retiring, or is this just your own internal clock?
As long as you dont need your money in the next couple years, dont look at your retirement account. In fact, it’s a great time to buy stock (unless you think its a zombie apocalypse and the US economy will never rebound).
Thanks for doing that experiment and sharing the results. Did the software make it easy to list to multiple sites at the same time? Based on how others talk about their sales on other sites, I’m really surprised at the low sell-through rate.
Yeah, that’s bad form to tell the person you just bought a valuable item from them.
Are you guys moving to Florida? Whats the process of moving all your inventory?
Huh, so you already got a new job? if so, congrats. If you had to just live off eBay profits, could you do it?
I remember you said you guys moved to an LLC or Scorp. Be interested to see how much more complicated accounting becomes. We’re still just a simple General Partnership.
So cool that you’re just getting started. Since many of us here established a while ago, it’ll be interesting to see your experience selling on eBay. Many of us wonder how eBay has changed. Looks good so far.
That’s a big upgrade, but it now gives you plenty of runway to grow. We havent been able to hit the 10,000 limit for Anchor stores yet. Do you have enough storage to keep growing your store?
That really is buried in their FAQ. The timeline for returns should be front and center. None of us saw this last week when we were discussing it. I cant even directly link to it.
How much time are buyers given to ship returned items?
When buyers are sent an eBay-generated return label, the return is closed if the label is not printed within 10 business days. If the buyer prints the label, we allow the return to remain open an additional 5 business days to ensure shipping scans are captured. When buyers are not sent an eBay-generated return label, we wait up to 35 business days before closing the return.Welcome Sean. If you and your wife are on the same page aboiut what you want to do, nothing can stop you.
I hope more of us under 50 are realizing that the Boomers benefited from cheap real estate prices in all the major cities. Those days are over. Its madness to try to “make it” in DC, NYC, SF, Chicago, etc… There are so many awesome small towns in the US that are super affordable and just need love. We can make these places what we want them to be. Its doable.
Long descriptions can’t hurt. As you said, back in the “old days” we all used to copy and paste a long list of rules ad request for good feedback. Templates. I still see lot of sellers use templates.
For us, we see that plenty of people buy without descriptions. Plus wenow mainly sell items without significant issues or wear.
You got to set up a business like this kid did for Supreme clothes:
https://www.complex.com/style/2017/04/meet-the-teen-making-thousands-of-dollars-waiting-on-line-at-supremeJust send in a group of kids to buy several pairs each. Organize it all in the parking lot 🙂
What tipped them off? Just the number of shoes you buy on a regular basis? It is weird that if you pay the price they ask for that there would be a limit to what they sell you.
Back when we started selling on eBay in 2008, it seemed expected to have log descriptions. We always struggled with what to write.
“Cool, awesome coat that keeps you warm in the winter. Brown Wool with a hood and inside pockets. Tag says Large. 42″ chest. Sure to keep you cozy.”
Now you can simply see this in the photos and the item specifics. It’s a lot of extraneous writing.
