Seems pretty standard stuff. Just say “return for a refund”. If he’s just fishing for a refund but still wants the item, it’ll solve itself. Call his bluff.
Maybe we just list it and sell it ourselves. Seems crazy to lose $9 because we ordered the wrong item, right?
Otherwise, I guess you just mail back to his address and hope he honors his message.
Its definitely a balance. COVID-19 is a new virus which makes some people vey sick. Some die (seem to be older and already ill poeple). Many others are getting it and not even realizing because it doesnt adversely affect them. No children have gotten seriously ill. There’s no vaccine yet so the only treatment is to muscle through it with medical help if needed. The unknown is the most scary.
The yearly flu kills thousands of people every year. I also had the flu around 2015. I felt like I was going to die. But then I didnt it. Five days of being sick was no fun.
Everyone stay healthy. Wash your hands often. Dont touch your face. Dont stand too close to people. The virus can only get in your through your eyes, nose and mouth.
Big wall of text 🙂
I think he’s saying that eBay is forcing eBay sellers to match Amazon/Walmart retail standards (fast shipping, long return windows) even though many of us sell different kinds of products. You cant compare selling a brand new TV with a vintage, rare comic.
eBay should embrace its funkiness and not push long time sellers out by squeezing a round peg into a square hole.
What kind of business do you work at where they’re replacing 3-5 computers a week?
Let us know how it goes. When eBay started to charged for “promoted listings”, we saw a short term bump until all sellers started doing it. Now we have the same sales, but less profit per sale.
Your absolutely correct. If I said 10% death rate, I made a mistake. That’s what I get for acting like an expert. I’ll correct myself.
So far the mortality rate is even lower if you’re under 50. Hasnt been an issue at all for children under 10.
From what Ive read, they think COVID-19 might actually me much more widespread but people havent shown symptoms. So actually it could actually be much less dangerous than they think. Only the really sick people are people reported.
If stuff is recycled then its all good. We’re talking about the stuff that they just throw in a hole in the ground and cover up because people are too lazy to figure out what to do with it.
Yep, some buyers get very emotional. You handled it well.
Sounds like you have a working process. Finding out what sells and what doesnt. If your work has a steady stream of his stuff, you now know what to sell and what to dump. The key is to get rid of that storage cost if you can.
Does your brother have any storage he can use?
If you dont know https://garbagefinds.com/, he’s a fun guy to follow because he makes his living out of just looking through garbage bags. Its incredible all the cool items he finds. Even gold and silver. It pains me to think of all the valuable items people throw away.
From my memory, no one here has sold particular well on Mercari. Seems like people randomly crosspost items and are just happy is they get some sales. Maybe someone will chime in with a different experience.
Very cool. Always fun to solve the mystery of weird old items.
Yep, lots and lots of waste. It’s great for those of us making a living off people willing to throw away valuable items. But is is frustrating because there’s no way any of us can keep more than a tiny fraction out of the landfill.
My hope is that more and more people will realize they can just sell their stuff on Facebook or wherever and made a little bit of money.
We see any item we keep out of the landfill as a win, instead of being dragged down by all the stuff we missed.
