Small animal character holder for…?

I see the images. I would have grabbed those as well to sell.

But what are they for? My default is always “candle holder”. You could fit a small tea candle in it.

I think they’ll cool enough to just be “vintage decor”.

They belonged to my husband’s grandmother (she passed at 105 in December 2017). My first thought was tea bag holders but when I searched I didn’t see anything that looked like that.

It looks like the flat part with the writing is supposed to be the base, maybe?  Are they cast iron?  If so, then maybe not teabag holders since they would be prone to rust with a wet teabag sitting in them.  But I don’t have a better idea.

The style of lettering of the “Made in Germany” part suggests 1920s to me for some reason.

I agree with Jay, they are cool, whatever they are.

I think it’s cast iron metal. The light color parts are the raw metal with no black color.

From a google search, I see that it could be an egg holder and was made/designed by Walter Bosse. Look him up on ebay and you’ll see many similar items.

Found the cat. Pipe/ring holder…or at least that’s how this one is listed.
