I did play with legos when I was a kid, but I Don’t have a clue about them now that I’m an adult. I’m smart enough to know whenever I see complete new or used sets to buy them.
Never thought I would run into a huge random lot for $10. Every garage sale I’ve been to that has loose legos want $100+ (one sale wanted $300 and they were all loose). Goodwill stores are even pricing them at $10+ per pound so IMO every one knows their value now.
To get back on topic I did check some of my legos and they are all stamped lego on the circular part (pegs) where they would click into another piece.
Since I have already starting sorting by color, I will try selling by color and by random. Might as well put all the time used sorting to good use.
10/13/2017 at 3:57 pm in reply to: How to change UPS shipping to USPS shipping after purchase #23867I mistyped above. You can use UPS shipping or UPS calculated shipping on ebay, but you can not buy a UPS shipping label via ebay. You have to buy it thru paypal.
YEs that’t true. If someone is shipping lots of volume especially if those packages won’t fin into a USPS flat rate box UPS can have good pricing.
UPS uses a 13 week rolling average of your shipping costs. If you average under $50 per week you will only get the standard ebay discount of 8 -20% depending of weight.
Even if you’re not shipping volume on packages greater than 15lbs UPS can beat USPS if you are shipping across 5 or more postal zones.
Most likely the LR xxx badges are from BMC Laird trucks. You can see the badge on the front of this truck at the top left most photo on this page https://www.pinterest.se/pin/368521181980245051/
The BX and FG badges may be from trucks too, but i haven’t found any matches.
The link doesn’t work. I could be wrong, but I believe the retail (counter rates) for packages at USPS has changed to a minimum of 3 dollars up to 8 ounces. Ebay users can still get rates as low as 2.61 up to 4 ounces.
I don’t care if they keep raising retail counter rates. That’s just a stupid tax on people who haven’t figured out how to ship via computer using USPS’ own “click it and ship it” option.
10/12/2017 at 8:48 pm in reply to: How to change UPS shipping to USPS shipping after purchase #23826To piggy back on what so cal joe said, did the listing include shipping ? I’m going to guess no because if the shipping was too high the buyer would have noticed.
If you had free shipping and the buyer already paid you don’t need to cancel the sale and start over. When you go to print the label you should be able to change it to USPS. (UPS is not a shipping option on ebay anyway)
No problem. Don’t be scared to use UPS though. They can really be competitive on heavy packages vs USPS.
I forgot the write that you CAN NOT purchase shipping labels for UPS via ebay. However, you can purchase UPS shipping labels via paypal (for your ebay sales)
I have done this before so I know it works.
UPS has a specific program for ebay sellers for discounted shipping. I posted a link to it in an earlier thread. Check this link and start with “step #1”
http://pages.ebay.com/sellerinformation/ship-smart/ebay-shipping-partners/printupslabels/index.html
IMO unless you are shipping large quantities of items over 1 lb that can not fit into a flat rate box, UPS will never be able to beat USPS rates even with discounts.
However, UPS is good for shipping heavy items especially if you are on one side of the USA and shipping to the other side East Coast<->West Coast and vice versa. If you are in the middle of the country USPS will nearly always be cheaper.
DO NOT sign any contracts with UPS, if you already signed up for a UPS account on their site or thru ebay previously, your number automatically gets forwarded to some “salesman” to try to upgrade you etc. I received the same calls just ignore them.
The way UPS discounts work is the more you ship, the more you save. IF you do not ship enough with UPS you will only get a small discount like 8%-15% depending on weight. UPS uses some weird average shipping cost / the most recent week.
This is much different from FedEX where you get a standard discount on every purchase and it doesn’t matter how much you have shipped with them during the last week.
09/20/2017 at 10:46 pm in reply to: Ebay asking to open unpaid item cases on refunded and returned items? #23046Been that way for at least the last two years. It’s a feature not a bug.
I don’t know anything about Vietnamese CD’s, but I have seen a single used CD sell for $500 in the past, so high values are certainly possible.
I also do not think you need to translate anything. As long as you have the artist name spelled correctly that should be sufficient.
Money laundering is a possibility, but one way you can check that is to list one of those high value CD’s yourself and see if you get the same price. I saw some single CD’s sell for $400+ on that link you provided.
This certainly seems like a “too good to be true” situation. I’m sure if those high sold values are legit someone else would have figured out how to source those CD’s in Vietnam and have them sent to the USA. If no one has figured out (importing) yet then this could be a temporary arbitrage opportunity until someone DOES, so take the cash and run.
When I first saw that image my first thought was that its “Sasquatch” Lo and behold someone also wrote the same comment on the imgur post.
I do not think its any type of official logo, just some weird image a company created.
Perhaps try searching for sasquatch hats on ebay.

I hear ya, Amazon is insane with the returns. FWIW, I haven’t received too many over there, but here’s some good ones.
Sold a new music CD still factory sealed. Buyer leaves positive feedback (and we know how rare feedback is on Amazon) then returns the CD opened. I would guess they copied it and sent it back.
Sold two new air conditioner supports. These supports are what you would put under the air conditioner to support its weight. New in the package with instructions. Both returned by different buyers. They opened the packages and I suppose couldn’t figure out how to use them.
Sold a wi-fi extender new in the package valued at $150. Buyer requests return about 3 weeks later. However, they don’t return within the 30 day window so Amazon credits my account $134. Why $16 less than sales price ? Because Amazon keeps the “selling fees” even when products are returned.
Nowadays I am mostly sticking with books on Amazon and I don’t think I’ve had single return on a book yet. I suppose over time Amazon will kill this golden goose too. They have already raised the selling fees on books so now you need to sell at $7.50 / $8.50 and above to break even on books.
Some publishers like Pearson also will not allow non authorized sellers to sell their books in new condition. Pearson publishes a lot of text books, and I find their books often. Still profitable to sell as used though.
You will never be able to build a “brand” on ebay so forget about that. The only “brands” that have some success are major retailers like, bestbuy, target, newegg, etc. Some big brands don’t even want you to know you are buying from them.
For example, Gamestop has a store on ebay, but you would never know it. Sams Club does as well, but nothing to indicate that. I bought something from them so that’s how I found out. Listing had no indication it was Sams Club / Walmart.
A second store is good if you “inherit” another store such as getting married and your new spouse has a store. No reason to throw away a store with good feedback and history.
A second store may also be good for selling low value items in which you DO NOT want to provide tracking. Therefore, you DO NOT care about TRS or potential TRS discounts.
I’ve had the opposite experience. I think only one offer I have sent via message has been accepted.
Similarly, I no longer do “best offer” on my listings, although I did try them out before. I found that when people sent “best offers” and I countered they would never accept. That would tie up my listing for 48 hours until the offer expired. Meaning I could not change anything on the listing including description. This happened so often I think it was being done on purpose.
To combat that I learned to auto accept and auto decline best offers, but if someone sent an offer out of that range I would have to respond. In cases like that I would decline then send via message what price i would accept. Those people never accepted either.
Perhaps this has something to do with the types of products you are selling.
