I don’t know if this is the answer but, next time you print a label on ebay for a single item go to receipt preferences and make sure “show postage” is unchecked. ebay may be remembering your previous choices and carrying them forward.
That looks like something a mechanic would wear in the pit. The word “Forza” means force in Italian, but in this context it has a different meaning and translates as “Go for it, Ferrari”
or it can mean “Come on, Ferrari” or even “Ferrari Power” according to my research.Forza is also a popular video game on the xbox 360 + xbox one, so if you use the word “Forza” in a listing you are going to get a lot of overlap, which may or may not be good.
Unfortunately, you are dead wrong and spreading false info. The USPS reg you are breaking is that one can not combine a flat rate priority box with a non flat rate priority box. Regional boxes are not flat rate. IF you want to have some fun bring that contraption to a retail window at USPS and ask them their opinion.
Also, all US Postal Employees can pull a package from circulation and send it to a clerk or someone else to have the weight and postage class checked. Now this is not going to happen at a plant since employees there really have no contact with the packages since they are mostly moved by machine.
But it can and does happen at the sort level in the post office or at the carrier level once the package hits the street. Not only does this happen, the Post Office actually encourages carriers to do this because the Post Office is losing money every year.
There are plenty of “Dudley Do-rights” employed at the post office that follow every reg you can think of. You might get away with that contraption a few times or even a 100 times, but eventually Dudley will catch you.
Since at best your saving .50 cents using that contraption I don’t think the risk reward is high enough. I’d rather not have upset customers and ship right the first time.
I know all of this because I was a temp carrier at the Post Office before. I saw plenty of packages get pulled for weight and class inspections. You’d be amazed at how many people try to mail priority flat rate envelopes using first class postage.
I wouldn’t recommend that as its against USPS regs. As silly as it sounds if caught the USPS would charge you twice for those packages. One possible way around it would be if the regional A box was previously used and has cancelled postage on it.
The risk of a package like that getting delayed for extra postage isn’t worth it. You can buy boxes in similar sizes that will fit into the padded flat rate envelope on ebay or elsewhere fairly cheaply. I bought 50 boxes like this for about $22 on ebay before.
I don’t know about other areas of the country, but where I live all the Goodwill and Savers stores organize their clothes by gender and size. So I don’t think a clothes buyer would waste too much time in a thrift store here. OTOH, electronics and housewares are disorganized and one could waste a lot of time those depts.
One thing I have learned since selling on ebay and amazon is never underestimate the stupidity or laziness of the (buyers). I’m sure that sounds negative, but I don’t know how else to describe it.
The advent of the smart phone has removed some of the stupid people from the pool, but those same people haven’t figured out how to sell on amazon or ebay yet. That’s what concerns me for the future of reselling.
Imagine a day when those same stupid people can talk into a phone and say “mens levis jeans size 36 x 32 new with tags $35.99” and ebay makes the listing automatically, collects the cash and forwards it to you. Then we’ll only be left with the lazy and/or people without smart phones or computers.
I have a similar shoe story. Last year I bought some brand new Giania Versace women’s high hell snake skin shoes for 3 dollars. They even came with the box and the felt storage pouch. I thought these shoes would be a slam dunk and priced them at $400, but no interest whatsoever, not even a low ball offer.
Those high heels took 10 months to sell and sold for $130. The woman who bought them was very happy though and sent me a message to that effect.
You never know what will sell. I have stories of stuff I thought would never sell especially at my asking price and they sell within 24 hours. I suppose its a matter of the buyer looking for that exact item at the exact time you list it.
Regarding unemployment there’s a lot of variables especially depending on what state you live in.
IF you are laid off from a job you should receive unemployment automatically in most states. Some states will still schedule a “phone interview” though.If you are self employed you do not pay unemployment tax so you are not eligible to receive it. However, if you were previously a W-2 wage earner and were laid off you would be eligible.
The issue ebayers would have is the issue of “availability” and not necessary the income you are earning. For example, if you are working ebay full time – are you available to accept a full time job in your previous occupation ? The amount of money you are earning via ebay isn’t necessarily important. The availability issue is greater.
Ebay/payapl does not report earnings to the Labor Dept and they wouldn’t have a clue how much/little you are earning. Unemployment is calculated on the W-2 wages reported via your employer every quarter.
Knowing that I’m not sure it’s worth risking collecting unemployment while earning on ebay, but if one were to get caught you may be able to argue yourself out of the situation. I can see how one can argue the issue of “availability” but arguing about the earning ebay cash part would be more difficult.
I’ve had a few questions on shipping cost before and I ask them to tell me where and how they found the shipping cost (they are requesting) and I will be happy to purchase the shipping that way.
This is especially true on Intl orders. Even though I use GSP I still get questions on shipping and costs by Intl buyers. Last person told me I could ship a video game to Australia for 6 dollars. I asked what carrier and where can I purchase at the price. Never heard from them again.
I think there’s some truth in what you’re saying, but I think the reason “wealthy” people are buying used stuff on ebay (especially clothes) is because they don’t want to be seen in a thrift store.
Ebay is also a great place to sell items that most people would consider embarrassing to buy in person such as, adult diapers, marital aids, OTC medication (like Prep-H), etc.
If one can find a steady supply of “embarrassing items” to sell I think they would be fairly successful on ebay.
Another rule of dumpster diving is you can not go in the dumpster if its behind a closed fence, wall, or other type of structure that is closed – even if there’s not a lock(s).
That’s not what ebay reps have told me. I suppose it depends on who you ask at ebay. I’ve done it three times already without issue. One person changed their feedback and the other two did not despite offering refunds, so I have one neutral and one negative on my feedback.
First thing you should do is check the feedback that buyer has left for other sellers. If they are a repeat negative feedback leaver they are probably fishing for a partial refund. If your feedback score is high enough you should be able to absorb one negative though without issue. As long as you keep all the money, do you really care ?
You can also try writing a message in the hopes the buyer will incriminate themselves. For example. what can we do to change your opinion / feedback ?
If they reply refund me xx amount and I will change the feedback that would probably be considered feedback extortion and at that point ebay should remove the negative.
To my knowledge a seller can ask for a negative to be removed in exchange for a full or partial refund, but a buyer CANNOT.
You are the one who should be speaking to the post office in Marion OH not the buyer. I wouldn’t trust any thing the buyer has to say.
As far as the double label is concerned its possible although unlikely that the original label was damaged then the sort center put on a new label and got it wrong.
Like Jay said, if the post office is small the carriers will probably remember details about the package and/or the customer who received it. Those memories fade fast though so I would get on the phone with Marion OH asap. Don’t be afraid to ask for the post master.
Use the auto accept / reject function. Never make a counter offer via the message system. If you do that it will lock you out of the listing until the buyer accepts or rejects your counter offer. If the buyer doesn’t respond at all you will be locked out of the listing for 48 hours. I learned this lesson a couple years ago the hard way.
If you want counter a best offer first decline then write in the ebay message what dollar amount you will accept. This works even better if you have auto accept turned on.
I don’t really have any extreme scavenger stories, but I have found some free stuff that I later sold.
At one garage sale they had a box at the end of the driveway full of “free stuff” it was mostly books, and instead of standing there and scanning them I just took the whole box.
I made about $100 on the books since most of them were nursing school textbooks. Some of the books were worthless though and those went in the trash.Went to an estate sale that was mostly selling furniture at high prices. However, I found a new and still sealed VHS set of “classic movies”. It was a set of “musicals” like Oklahoma, etc. Paid $1 sold on Amazon couple weeks later for $60.
One thing I’ve learned with garage sales and estate sales is that even at the high priced ones (which we have a lot of here) I can nearly always find one thing to flip. The trick is to work thru the sale(s) fast enough to find that one thing and move on to the next sale.
Sales tend to be spread out here, so I may only be able to hit 8 – 10 in one day.
