Here is an image gallery of what the interiors of the doll houses look like.
https://www.si.edu/sidedoor/ep-10-murder-her-hobbyOh my goodness! As soon as I saw these, the first thing that came to my mind was an article about crime scene recreation doll houses and miniatures. Perhaps, this is one of the components? Doll house crime scene recreation miniatures is actually a “thing”. Who knew!
Oh my gosh. Duck season. Rabbit season. I am so on the fence now. As I type this, the magazines are in my car. Such a tough “silly” (me being silly) thing about these. I have in the past paid up for magazines that had a pattern I wanted. So. There’s that. I have a couple hundred unused listings. Maybe. I don’t know. I do have a couple dozen other magazines, with either supermodels or celebrities which I feel will sell well, but these. Well. Let’s see. Feeling wishy washy.
Really? I did not know that you could not send magazines media mail! Good to know. Thanks, Sonia!
I went through most of the magazines. Seems I did not have a “complete” year. At this point, I cannot be bothered. I kept a few magazines (maybe 20). I’m donating the rest tomorrow. Anyone in Chicago want them?? If you are in Chicago, I’ll gladly hand them to you. I have SO many death piles and I just need to focus on what I know will sell quickly, or at least at a better profit.
Jay, I would love to sell the lot for $40. don’t think I could. I’ve tried and they just sat. I’ll try again. Thanks, Clarity. I’ll try by the year again. Don’t feel it’s worth my time for a $1. profit here or there, but I’ll try by the year. Maybe I should have tried during the stay at home order. ugh.
Goomba478, I did not have the stored items in sunlight, as the sunlight at my place is very limited.
Antique Frog, yes, I have had sewing machines that the original color was white, only to have them turn yellow on me. I’m guessing it’s the same thing with these plastic storage totes.
Mark S. Oh my goodness, that had to suck to cancel a sale due to the item disintegrating. I recently had to cancel a sale of a cookie jar that went real bad from me keeping it in the garage. It cracked while in the garage in ways I could never have imagined. I now have to stare at the thing in my kitchen every day as a reminder. Oh well. I guess it is the cost of doing business for me.
I think I’ve stated before, but I’ll say it again. I am considering just selling off what I have and work on just selling fabric. God knows I have p-lenty of fabric to keep me busy for a while.
debitsandcredits, here are a few links from etsy sellers. These look similar to the style of art you have. If you could show the backside, it may be helpful. The sellers here just have the solid burlap, but if you are saying it is rug pieces put together, then it is more likely an “assemblage art” wallhanging tapestry. Here are some keywords you can use in your listing: tapestry, wallhanging, textile art and lastly, assemblage art. For “assemblage art” I would only use that term if it is rug pieces glue, sewn, or otherwise cut and “assembled” on the burlap. If the yarn is hooked, or punched into the burlap, then don’t use the word “assemblage”. No matter what it is, “textile art” is appropriate. Good luck!
debitsandcredits, that is hand hooked yarn art on burlap. I cannot tell if the yarn is cut. By that I mean there are a few ways to hook a rug. If the yarn is cut, it is latch hooked. If the yarn is not cut, it is punched yarn. To latch a rug, you would use a latch and about a 4″ piece of yarn. In kits, the yarn is pre-cut, and colors are sorted. This is likely not from a kit and is one of a kind. If the yarn is acrylic (it looks to me, to be acrylic), it would be less expensive than say a wool yarn piece.

Good for anyone who finds inventive ways to add to their income, I mean, after all, isn’t that why we are all here? I applaud anyone who finds genius ways to profit from what they know/learn as a result of reselling. I guess I should have articulated better. My point was that I guess these kinds of videos should have a warning that it is an “ad” or some type of advertising. Because, let’s be real, that’s what it is.I used to watch (I won’t mention her name here) on YouTube. This ebay seller is in Georgia and sells many items on ebay. From what I know, she has 2 stores. One is just a golf store where she sells golf items. I guess golf is a “thing” in Georgia, I know nothing about golf. Said YouTuber also has a regular store. I used to enjoy and look forward to her videos. She was very knowledgeable, was always businesslike, dressed businesslike, and presented her videos in good lighting and always changed her background. I thought, wow-she is really a hard worker! And I still believe that. However-she started offering “listing” services, where she would list your item for you. Ok. Not a bad idea. Then she started offering e-books. Not my favorite, but eh-I won’t purchase, but maybe someone else will benefit from it. Then said YouTuber started offering store critiques (at a price). Well, the next thing you know, now she is traveling from state to state and selling “lunches” with her. Ok. Enough. I cannot even watch her anymore because as you see, she is selling everything! How does she have time to sell in on her ebay store? I had had enough and refuse to watch her now. I have not watched for for at least a year because in each video all she did was promote her services and there was less of her sharing her selling experiences, tips and more of her self-promoting.
This reminds me of these people who buy the “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” speaking engagements. Oh my gosh! I cannot believe people still buy into that. A family relative of mine told me he went to one of those speaking engagements. I was stunned. I waited about a year to bring it up again, but not in the context of him attending, but in general terms. My relative asked me why I did not think these speaking engagements were effective. Mind you this person is obsessed with “how to make the most money with the least effort”. I gave him the example of a billionaire friend of mine. I said to the relative: John (not his real name) is a billionaire-NOT because he attended a paid speaking engagement, but because John rolled up his sleeves when he was young and got in there and did the actual work.
I refuse to pay for boxes. I went to drop off a box at a fedex location near me and was told by FedEx that the box I was shipping was not acceptable because it had writing on it. I was in a hurry, and FedEx tried to sell me a box. I was already on the losing end of shipping said item, so I declined. I took the package and was on my way home to re-package it. Being in a rush, I cut through the alley of the FedEx, and voila! There it was. Row after row of empty boxes residents had tossed out from (mostly) Amazon orders. I grabbed one and ran back in to FedEx, re-packaged the item (I carry packing tape in my car) and shipped it on it’s way. The clerk, surprised, said, “wow, you must live really close!” I said “No, I just dug this box out from your alley!” P.S. This was pre-pandemic and I highly doubt I would do it now.
Also, for smaller items, I find that the Dollar Tree by me is happy to give me as many boxes as I want. I also have a relationship with the JoAnn Fabrics store by me, so I get packing material like bubble wrap from them. For larger boxes, the Jewel (grocery store here in Chicago) has “Egglands Best” boxes which are sturdy and I just either use wrapping paper to cover the lettering, or turn the box inside out.
I am working on death piles (a positive outcome result of the pandemic) and realized that I prefer selling items (fabric) I can just throw in a free ebay sleeve (store subscription), and ship it without wondering if it made it safely.
Mike, I try never to use Amazon for reasons I won’t get in to here, but wow. You’ve just sold me aa Amazon Prime membership! 😀
Not sure if this makes sense, but I will say that I have been getting more sales from folks right here in Chicago. I’m wondering too if by doing the search, as mickdog did, by default it takes you to a local seller.
Good luck, Kesia!
