Hi,
I’m wondering if anyone knows anything about the artist, Thomas McKnight. I have a large print ( I guess) of his that I would like to sell. 24” x 36”. I bought it from the thrift store for personal use about a year ago but I’m ready to part with it. The back of the frame has like, brown paper on it so I think I would ruin the framing to take it out and see if it’s maybe signed in the back. There’s no signature on the front of mine, which is mostly what I’m seeing on the other listings on eBay, so does that mean is most likely unsigned?

The one I have isn’t on the website…which I guess could mean it’s by a different artist with a very similar style…I think I”ll try a reverse image search (never successfully done one lol) or else the only way to find out will be to ruin the frame. :/

Or you may have a print that he just doesnt have for sale. He has a pretty unique style.
The signature could be on the edge of the print under the frame. I’d just list it with as much info as you have. Let the buyer make the choice to take it apart if they want.

Jay is right, he is a living artist. Call me crazy, but I have found art at the thrift stores and when I Google them, if they are alive, I contact them! I know, right? So far, they have gotten a kick out of it and are very nice and have answered my questions. If you do decide to go that route, you might want to hurry. He is 79 years old. Try dropping an e-mail. Why not?
A few years ago, I found about 12 of these 11″ X 14″ acrylic paintings of musicians and only purchased 1 (all I could afford at the time) and scored this painting of Jimi Hendrix. Turns out the Artist was moving out of his state (can’t remember which) and was moving to Ohio when I contacted him. He was really nice, and flattered that I contacted him. To be fair, he is I think in his 30’s, but I did not know that at the time. When he asked how I came to own his painting, I changed the subject. Didn’t want to insult him and let him know that they found their way to the Salvation Army!
