Number of items listed this week: 0We are in the thick of college application season but I’m now starting to sleep a little better so really need to kick into gear. I have some seasonal fall RA that NEED to get listed this week. Went thrifting one time. A favorite indy thrift has opened a new location I avoided the opening for multiple reasons but still found two little items later in the day. They also got rid of my nemesis older redhead pricer and have college kids working there now. They had the coolest vintage coffee bin sort of like this: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/60657926201380339/ that made me think of you guys and your shop.
@RetroTreasures stitchery kits are my favorite thing to sell. Not the most exciting to pick but they are such reliable sellers, easy to list and ship, and sometimes worth great money. Also overlooked by some scavengers in these parts. The few times I make it to garage or estate sales, I always check that out.
Have a great week.
Ditto. I’m seriously suffering covid unproductivity but might manage to ramp up still.
Made it back on board with 15 listings, no paper. I went to the thrifts once and have some retail arbitrage backed up so I really need to get moving!
These are awesome. At least until my son goes to college I have to pack on my washer and dryer in the garage.
Had to lose the mom-mobile at this time, but the new car is so modern and computerized. Makes me wonder if we will starting hitting repairs sooner? We always choose a reliable model and brand so we’ll have the best shot possible for longevity without major repairs. Since the Volvo certified car has such low miles we will get another year on the warranty, which is nice. My dad argued for getting an older car and just sucking up repairs, but I don’t tolerate the extra stress of an unreliable car in my life well.

Dropping in to say I just love those moments when you are sourcing and can’t decide on something so you look it up and then solds come up over $100. And you’re like “whoa!” and then grab it and run to pay.
Bolo this 1980s Nancy Thomas folk art https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=nancy+thomas+folk+art&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1 I just pick up 6 of these plaques at Goodwill for $3.99 each. The first one (October) sold even though it’s all rusted and scratched up.
Zero for me last week. Not a great time of year on Ebay to be busy with other things, but that’s life.

Number of items listed this week: 0Well slow sales but I haven’t listed in weeks. Busy outside Ebay with day job and son’s college app process. Also bought a new to me car this weekend on a trip to LA. We bought a car that some spendy person leased fully loaded and took the hit on, barely drove, then returned for a brand new one. Also negotiated several thousand off the used blue book “fair” price because I’m not driving that much and was super ready to walk out and wait. I feel like it was a fun exercise in scavenging. We hold on to our cars for about 10 years and do not trade in. Had no trouble selling my minivan quickly even with Covid.
Excited about the coffee shop. I’m sure that you have a great plan and don’t really need input here. 🙂 I would say though that food is key IMHO to driving people in during non-peak hours and expanding the amount they will spend. When traveling I often prefer to eat at Starbucks vs a sit down place and I sometimes grab a lunch in the morning on my way to work. Also, many restaurants, hair salons, etc. here sell art, though it’s usually cohesive by one artist and sometimes based on local landscapes or scenes. Vintage art could be fun and give people something to enjoy without the shop looking cluttered.
Have a great week!
@ Retro Good thinking. I feel like I’m not depressed but strangely less productive. I prefer to compartmentalize my time and office work. Here there is always a number of other things I could be doing and greater temptation to slack off.
When we bought our first house here some friends said it helped them decide to move to Tennessee. It was a total fixer for the price. LOL. But it is a nice community and we do have some awesome local coffee shops https://www.handlebarcoffee.com/pages/our-story. This one has the most amazing avocado toast. Of course because I’m cheap I get our coffee at Costco usually and we are using a crappy Keurig. So expensive real estate but cheap coffee, that’s what we get here.
Ugh zero for me. Part non-Ebay busyness and fun friend time, and part laziness to be truthful. I feel a bit of the Covid blahs. Worst part is that I went thrifting one day and have a pile of retail arbitrage to catch up on. Usually I always get my RA items listed right away.

Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $38Enjoyed the podcast. Sounds like you are getting closer on the coffee shop. Do you have an estimated opening date / month? Also enjoyed looking on Insta at some cute homes in your area. Stunning the price per sq. foot out there.
Ebay was completely dead for me for six! days, then I got a flurry yesterday and a good multi-item sale. I have not been listing unfortunately. Work might be less busy this week and I might be able to catch up a bit on some Ebay before we take a short trip on Saturday for our anniversary. At this stage of Covid, I’m have days that I am excited about catching up with old friends or the holidays coming, and then other days when I feel in a bit of a Groundhog day funk. Most days I just don’t feel as productive as I should be. I’m serving as my son’s college counselor and we are in the thick of that too. I cannot wait for December on that front. Just like with Ebay, I got an excellent free education online and in a forum about admissions. The internet is a wonderful thing.
For the second time in my Ebay career, I have a return involving a new pillow sham that has the wrong item inside the packaging. Unfortunately I didn’t check and used stock photos this time, so I have no way to know if it was the Ebay buyer or someone else who swapped it out and returned it to the retailer. Last time I reported the buyer to Ebay because I knew. Bummer and lesson learned.
Have a great week everyone!

Number of items listed this week: 19Thanks for the Podcast. It’s exciting to hear about you raising up your small town. It would be fun to see a video after you open the coffee shop.
Slow sales but I was away over the weekend on a short trip with extended handling time. I did quickly flip two items I sourced on Mercari, so that was cool. They were poorly described so they weren’t even what I expected but it worked out great. On my trip I sourced a few small new items at great prices. They probably have awesome thrifts where I went but didn’t have time to make it. Also missed a thrift store pod storage sale last weekend and skipped waiting in a huge distanced line for a grand reopening at another. Sigh.
I’m all backed up on my listing even with new summer clearance items but have day job projects. Happy the kids are back in school (remotely).
Have a great week! Happy fall.
@Simon congrats! I hope you enjoy your retirement and growing your Ebay store. Since we are both under heavy CA Covid restrictions, thought I would mention that the half of our independent thrift stores that have been closed are finally either reopening with extreme limitations on shoppers or having outdoor storage container sales. Might be a good way to ramp up on inventory if you have that going on.
