Only 11 for me. Was working day job Monday so 0 for that. I have lots of textiles I can pull out of the piles, plus some summer clearance I have just purchased. Since Friday I listed 7.

Number of items listed this week: 11Thanks for the podcast. Great art sale and I really like the piece. I agree that getting hooked up with estate sale company or other connections would be a good way to increase access to higher dollar items but I’m ok with rolling out the multitude of bread and butter items readily available.
I also do not double box. I hate peanuts too since they end up all over the place. So I use large bubble and also some dish foam sheets as cushion. I do appreciate Ryanne’s earth-friendly method.
Ebay was pretty quiet this week most days. My day job has been in a busy cycle and honestly I’ve been kind of in a weird, less productive state for about a week and not sleeping that great. Also obsessing a bit over my senior son’s college search and apps. So, not a big listing week. I feel like I need a really good “just focus on Ebay listing” day. Probably would be good idea to stop watching the news and reading Facebook.
Have a good week everyone.

I have textiles in my piles too. Hope you are all doing well.
I listed 18 items. My day job has gotten busy again and my younger kid is out of camp and school for three weeks. I have been trying to cram in at least a few listings every other day in spurts.
Hope to list more this week, but I also need to do some organizing of unlisted and listed items plus used boxes. That sounds really fun actually since I’ve been sitting at the computer so much lately.

Number of items listed this week: 18Busy week outside Ebay, sales doing ok. Went to a thrift store once (with my N95 mask on) but no great scores. Went by a retailer having a clearance and it was surprisingly busy even though I could not go at opening. I was in and out of there quickly and already sold one item from that trip.
Haven’t listened to the podcast but look forward to it. Still hitting the piles. It’s hard to read and watch the news these days. Things are weighing on my mind. Stay safe everyone.
07/25/2020 at 5:47 pm in reply to: Re-assess your fixed costs (mortgage, insurance, etc). It is WORTH IT! #79951@Amatino yes, USAA has been great the couple of times my car was hit. They apparently pay well and you use their approved shops. Rates for the rest of us seem good, but my new teen driver is very high. Also they way overestimate the value of the contents in our home and it’s tied to the home value so I couldn’t cut it. After the fires, they dropped some locals but luckily we are in a different zip code.
07/23/2020 at 6:47 pm in reply to: Re-assess your fixed costs (mortgage, insurance, etc). It is WORTH IT! #79908We have a refi in progress – unfortunately just missed the bottom, but still good. We really need to shop around for my teen son’s auto insurance. He’s hardly driving at all. We have USAA.
07/21/2020 at 11:11 am in reply to: Customer paid but asks to switch Fed Ex to USPS and “refund the overage” #79812Yes, I should have included the last part. Since she likes to write notes, I expected her to respond over the weekend. Anyway, hopefully she will be happy. I’ll be looking for that feedback.
07/20/2020 at 7:01 pm in reply to: Customer paid but asks to switch Fed Ex to USPS and “refund the overage” #79796Yes, luckily (I hope) a street address. I’m at the deadline so will just send it Fed Ex and hopefully she will be happy with it. I had the only complete item, so hope that counts for something and she would want it even with the calculated shipping she already paid.
She also asked for careful packaging. I wondered if she was a seller who knows we get a discount but if she sells it’s not on Ebay with this account.
07/20/2020 at 12:24 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 472: Biggest Sale, Biggest Scavenge #79773Ugh just lost a big blog post. Quick and dirty version: Ebay $484, Mercari $103, COGS $98. listed 13. Lower dollar going to Mercari, better goes to Ebay at high Terapeak solds with best offer. No cross posting. Day job picking back up. Kids out of school in the Fall. College admissions scary. Great sale R&J and you saved it from the dump too!
No Christmas, 13 items. Have a good week.
I listed 22 unique items this week. I really need to push myself a little harder since my day job is super slow. I do have some family obligations and distractions, but this number really should be way higher. I feel like I’m going to look back later and go “the lockdowns was such a good opportunity to move those death piles”, and “why didn’t you get more done?” I did get back to exercising everyday this week and I’m trying to watch what I’m eating.

Items Sold: 9 Ebay, 7 Mercari
Cost of Items Sold: $88
Total Sales: $212 Ebay, $136 Mercari
Highest Price Sold: $39 Target RA linens, paid $17 in May
Average Price Sold: $24 Ebay, $20 Mercari
Money Spent on New Inventory: $32, six items
Number of items listed: 22Eventful week on Ebay, but not really saleswise. I got the offer for $50, so registered for managed payments. Couldn’t figure out how to charge shipping labels and fees to my credit card, so will need to look that up.
Then, ouch got my first neutral feedback in three years. The buyer falsely claimed I photocopied $10 vintage canning labels. I asked for a return, no answer, then reported and asked for feedback removal on the site, and poof was removed in less than an hour without calling Ebay overseas. Hooray! I also rejected a lot of lowballers and had several of my counteroffers go off into the wind and expire. Had some success selling off $10-15 vintage on Mercari pretty quickly, so I’m pleased with that. The better stuff goes on Ebay. Say what you want about Mercari but your items get looked at and it’s very transparent so I like that. I’m wondering if people are still spending but it’s going lower dollar. My hourly day job projects seriously dropped off in June. Looking back I’m displeased with myself since I didn’t crank out more listings. It will be strange to have Ebay start paying for our monthly groceries, but I’m super grateful at this time for my “side business”.
Stay safe everyone. Thanks for the podcast and sales videos.
So happy for you Joe that it worked out so well. I’m dreaming of lower bills post retirement…
