The other simple platforms are drifting Ebay’s way a little bit on the shipping maybe, but still it’s so much faster to create a listing over there with the click buttons and suggestions popping up for fields. Ebay has improved their mobile listing a bit and I hope they continue to do so.
Thanks again T! Yes, I think that’s about right based on pink different shape solds and rose vases of other colors.
VL and Amatino, I echo the wishes for continued healing this week.
I listed 24 items, with 18 unique. My 14 yo daughter would like to run the house, so she lost her screens for a week. I’ve spend some nice time with her but it crimped my listing style. I also feel uneasy I guess subconsciously about things and have not been sleeping that great. I had a couple of lazy days last week. But hoping to tackle more boxes. I did a box of ceramics last week. Thinking of switching over to small art this week or back to fabric.

I keep the larger or longer ones in order by size, flattened in an open box like a filing cabinet but it still seems like a lot. But then when you find one you need, it’s a relief.

* Number of items listed this week: 24Great podcast this week. I’m the one who was asking for opinions about short listing titles since I noticed in Terapeak some short ones had sold highest. I was contemplating balancing the search hits vs. an algorithm boost one might get from a better conversion rate. Of course, we’ll never know about Cassini. I start with a readable string of the most basic and important key words first and then add a bunch of relevant descriptive words and fill up the space. However, I was thinking of dropping some of the latter possibly, especially things like color that would be covered in the item specifics. In theory, I’d get fewer, better hits and improve my conversion rate.
Regarding Poshmark, as a buyer I resent paying over $6 shipping on very lightweight first class items. It’s great for listing but makes me lowball over there. And yes, they might have to change it up like Mercari did if their hard goods business does well or they have other changes.
Good week of sales for me. Lots of distractions from listing last week. I hope to get more listings up this week. I’ve got a lot of piles but I’m a few boxes in now and it feels good. My daughter cleaned out her closet and it’s a lot of stuff. Most not very saleable, but we’ll see if she wants to put some work in.
If I started my business today, I would trust my instincts but search solds more often at the buying end and try to stay above $30 net unless it’s multiples. In my area there is no shortage of inventory so I really blew it in a way picking up some of the stuff I’m now dealing with years later. Also, I would pay more attention to the weight, since postal rates just keep marching up.

My husband on his own just discovered Poshmark last week. (He calls it Posh.) I know for Mercari the prices are lower, and people know the terms so are willing to take a risk. I have bought brands that I already own in a particular size. Both my husband and I found the social side of Posh a bit annoying and he asked me about people following him.
Unfortunately after the last set of USPS price increases, Mercari could no longer sustain their three chunk shipping buttons and now require weight and measurements. I think a lot of casual or shifty sellers are getting it wrong too. I just sent another package back as a buyer that had DIM postage of over $40 due.

I sold a cool ashtray of his with crackle glass in the bottom. Took a long time to sell.
Great video on storage This person is super organized and she did pay up for some equipment, but I especially like her rolling cart idea.
I don’t stuff it with unrelated keywords but usually I don’t have trouble coming up with enough keywords to fill it up. Perhaps though I could just revert to leaving some of those words to the item specifics, like color for example.
14 for me, 12 unique. 3 boxes of piles finished on the June challenge. Hoping to list this week. I was kind of fatigued as I haven’t been sleeping well. The knowledge that the spikes could have been avoided, plus some other stuff is kind of weighing on me I think. I hope those of you have struggles are doing better this week. I listed some cool vintage linens and I think I will work on art next. I think most or all of my Christmas is already listed.
I just remembered some inventory cost. For the first time I bought some art (lot of 3 for $72) to flip on Ebay. I was browsing the big city GW Ebay auctions on my phone and a promoted banner came up with a lot of paintings. Strangely, I searched for them separately and could not see them. Weird.
Total Items in Store: 400 Ebay, 115 Mercari

Average Price Sold: $32.67

Number of items listed this week: 14It was a slow week with a better finish. I hope to get more listing done in advance of the holiday weekend but I did make it back up to 400 items in the store last week. Lots of piles to sink my teeth into. For RA people, the Fourth sales are already starting. So far, not too much I’m interested in for resale and not enough extra % offs yet for home goods.
I enjoyed the podcast. I think Jay might like to see the bin hoverers involuntarily thrown into the Alone woods. 🙂 That would make a good show and I’d bet they would do quite well. Hope you find a good helper soon.
We are on the orange list coronavirus-wise but so far our community is not spiking. Everyone has their eye on the tourists from LA, who are now supposed to have to wear masks while visiting. We went North to a town where the numbers are super duper low and everyone was wearing a mask. It was great to be out but still you feel uneasy and lots of the bathrooms were closed. It was a strange experience but nice to get away from home for a day trip. Some of the thrifts are limiting the number of shoppers, but GW is not. I’ve only been a couple of times and did not go this week. I found it to be pretty picked over so the scavengers must be going out in force. My very favorite charity thrift has all very elderly volunteers. They said on Facebook that they are working on plans to reopen and I’ll have to decide if I want to go but I’m leaning no since it will be well attended.
