I have 220 items in my closet currently. i only got serious in June.
June 1- today (9/19)
Sold; $837 (after fees)
Items Sold:32 (most in July and September)
ASP: $26
Returns: 0
Things are picking up for me since I have lots of winter listed. I list about 2-3 items per day from eBay (new and old). I sell about 3-5 items per week.
The ASP is low b/c I have so much $12 crap I unloaded from eBay onto Posh to get rid of. But I have sold plenty of $50+ items.
It is SO fast to list on Poshmark, it is what keeps me coming back to it. I have given up on the community sharing, I just “share” my stuff. If anyone is interested in cross posting to Poshmark for q4, start with Boots and Heavy Winter items for Q4!
the $6.49 flat shipping (buyer always pays) is such a deal for buyers and I have been selling boots & bulkies over there very fast where it would cost $10-$13 cubic or Large Flat rate $17 (up to 5lbs, you can add $ for more weight – you pay, they dont).09/18/2018 at 8:21 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 377: Talking Numbers with TSatt (Troy) #48873T-Statt: Thank you for the info on the breakdown. This is what I have been looking for to truly gauge growth (or decline). My husband is in finance, but somehow when you explain it it goes down easier! ha!
LoveJam- Go to PERFORMANCE at top, then SELLING COSTS. (choose a date range if needed). Scroll down a bit and you will see each of your transaction + shipping fee + other fees. It will not show Fed Ex labels since those bill month end.
I THINK when you pull your sales report (make sure to do this every 90 days or the sales disappear from ebay site) it breaks it out for you.

QUESTION: We seem to talk about STR in terms of units or listings sold v. inventory not as % of available sales. Which is more accurate for a 10% STR? To say that you sell 50 items per month in a 500 item store, or you sell $10,000 per month in a $100,000 store? I would assume the cash number, right?
9/11-9/16
Items: 778 ebay store, 220 poshmark

Returns: 0Wins: Accruing more vintage goodies from the Bins is so fun. Will I have the patience for long-tail? We will see. 🙂 Fast flips in under 1 week listed this week include a home therapy neck device, Red Wing boots, and some vintage pillowcases 70s.
Sept 1-10
Items: 720
Sold: 16
Sales: $672
Lean start to September! I am ramping up sourcing daily in small bites to get to my 1,000 listing goal by Dec. So I’m feeling the crunch this month.
Highest Sale Sept: $120 Sorel Boots – I underpriced these, I am mad but oh well. 🙂Since I am sourcing new places, I am getting back into vintage shoes and clothes. However, I find that so many items have SMELLS. Not rank, but just.. musty. Sadly, I got moth ball smell on a several. I’ve tried to freshen them as best I can within reason (steam or soak or spray). At some point, I need to list them. Any tips on how to state “this may stink?” ha.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I LOVE buying pottery and have had mixed results with selling it. Ha!
Amazing! I will ask about discount night. I have been having good luck lately.
The more you list the more you sell! Same as ebay, any account activity seems to make the algo happy. The biggest impact seems to be: sending offers to likers (ebay will be doing this soon I think w/ watchers), and fielding incoming Offers. oh, of course, LISTING. And more importantly, selling the right thing at the right price.
Sales June, July and August: after 20% poshmark fee: $714 and 26 items sold.
All items were cross posted on ebay.
Shipping paid for by the buyer.Update: My store now has about 200 items. I am in full cross-posting mode on clothes & shoes now. I have stopped Community Sharing for the most part. I only share my items now.
I got my first 1 star review! (this is bad). Buyer didn’t read my condition notes, so she was upset when she got what she bought. Since she didn’t open a return case, 1 star for me. the good news is that this is a hidden review unlike ebay. I mean it’s on my account but not public facing. Oh well! I was paid and moved on.
Finally: white tissue paper is on sale at Costco now for cheap! Great for Poshing.
Welcome back! Ryanne, I had strep for the first time in 25 years this year. My dr. said it made a big comeback this year, so who knows. 🙂
Sourcing updates: Clothing at my DAV thrifts has gotten to $7-$9/per item. Which has forced me to get very choosy. I have expanded my sourcing route to add more stores and had some Labor Day successes in home decor linens. I am working to learn this category beyond just grabbing all the Ralph Lauren.
B/c of the local high thrift prices, I have been making weekly Goodwill Outlet Bins trips. It’s about 25 minutes from my house and I stay about 2-3 hours. I have pulled some awesome stuff that sold FAST. it’s the wild west so I also have to be in a state of mind to “deal.” 🙂
i have rebooted my estate sales route with mixed results. Hitting day 2-3 of a sale is a good deal but I seem to be dealing w/ stained stuff. I have went to some “hoarder” houses of clothes horses, and yes, there are tons of clothes but the owner would get a stain and never throw it out.
August Monthly Numbers: 650
Sold: 62
$2400
COGS:$300
Poshmark: 200 listed
Sold: 7
Sales: $138Marjean – I am not sure if he uses bots or has hired a VA to assist. either way, the sharing seems to help but doesn’t seem to be 100% essential. I see Poshers who sell and have no shares at all! Good luck to you. My PM sales are up and down. I have 150 listed thus far and now cross post all newly listed clothing to PM except weird stuff.
I just upgraded! Just do it! 🙂 One thing to also keep in mind, I had to call eBay to increase my dollar cap. I was capped at $25,000/listing per month. I had to call to increase up to $50,000/mo.
This is another ebay Conspiracy I have on STR rate, but I will leave that for another thread. Thanks all for the support re: my anxiety about scaling v. out of control spending! Yeesh. T-Statt’s spreadsheet is pretty great for tracking these things (cash flow). I had started tracking my COGS every 90 days (+ fees, etc) which was a great first step in “growing up” on eBay. But not good at forecasting how to spend on inventory.
I say list it through the Holidays (now – Janaury). People are looking for dining sets to entertain family. If you have not sold for your desired price by Xmas, then keep for a bit. 🙂 And then re-list. 🙂
Very cool!shayward23 – Same as me. I live in a city similar to Detroit in demographics / sprawl but not quite as large. So many opportunities b/w old money estate sales and thrifting. thanks for your feedback.
And yes, 1,000 active listings is the goal for Xmas if possible. This is a kind of a random number but I upgraded to Premium so it feels like a good goal! 🙂 -
