This is a very worthy thread, so I will refresh with mine! 900 items mixed inventory:
For clothes and shoes: I have metal shelving from ALDI + clear totes with NO lids. I have each tote labeled with a number. The number goes into the Custom SKU field. I do not label each item within tote, just the tote. So, yes, there is some digging, but with only 15 items per tote, it’s fine. I don’t pre-pack either.
For my hardgoods, I need some help. right now, the smalls are in mini totes and the chunky stuff is “open air” on more metal shelves. No SKU for these. If you are a newbie reading this – START NOW. Losing an item on ebay is not worth an account defect or the stress looking.
Nice! I am having to relocate my shipping station this month. Looks great. I always have an odd ball tower of odd boxes I will not break down as I like to see what they look like fully formed. ha

For clothing & shoes, I have started adding tissue before I slip into the clear bag. It’s $5.99 for 400? sheets at Costco through holiday season or I source it at the thrift store when I see it. I bought this for Posh, but am now doing it for ebay as well. For my high end shoes, I stuff the toes with paper and then wrap em up. Posh gets a thank you card (I bought 400 thank you cards for 50 cents at the thrift) – super simple “enjoy the XYZ!”
October 1-8:
Store: 900
Items sold: 30
Sales: $980 ebay, $67 Poshmark
I had a couple 0 sales days.
Highest Sale: Copper Pot (last of my massive score, so sad). $120GOALS: My goal at present is listing $300-$500 5 days per week. $500 is ideal. This keeps the momentum up immensely for me, but it also has me sourcing a lot.
Love my new sourcing routes – lots more car time, but better stuff and different stuff. Ever feel like your local thrift stores get the same old stuff? Almost embarrassed it took me so long to expand my sourcing route.
I have been slowly picking up and listing 35mm slides. I don’t think I am made for slides.
Like many of you, I discovered Best Offer was turned onto MANY items I was like WTH?? However, ebay got the last word as I accepted/ countered on a few and made some sales.
10/08/2018 at 8:17 pm in reply to: (Almost) Quarterly Ebay Sales Report from a bloody beginner #49796Thanks for sharing your German reselling experience! It sounds like you have figured out so much so quickly. Regarding the expensive tool you were able to get from work, it will sell. Sounds like a very specific item with a small audience of buyers.
I always try to think of my homefield advantage as in – just being in Europe opens you up to a host of things Americans don’t often see. For example since you’re in Germany, are you able to source BMW / Mercedes things cheaply in Germany that will sell well globally online? French linens are HOT sellers on ebay if you have the right eye. Search solds and be amazed at the prices. Italian espresso machine parts, etc etc. You have a lot of goodies in the EU the world wants in their homes. Made in Germany is synonymous with quality and high end – go find it and make some Euros! 🙂
I am listening, it is fine but SL is still my #1!! I will have to check the transcript.
Thanks, Karen/Lavender I will check it out! I don’t use IG for reselling at all, but I will Dm you on there! 🙂
T-Statt: Depop is another app, originated in UK but has large US presence. Geared toward younger/cool folks. 10% commission, they have a flat rate option like Posh and also you can DIY your shipping which is cheaper for buyer. Anyway! Good luck on Posh! I mean, you already have the stuff, so you may as well list it!
Re: Sofa. Hotel Liquidators are your friends here for this. There are several nation-wide. I would put an ask out to them with your hotel and product specs.
I would wait for a Cease and Desist if they are serious, personally. If they have 4 items, filing a VERO will be probably out of their scope and too vague. Some people just like to get wound up. As far as continual communication with this person, I would end it now. You’ve provided enough educational trademark info, if they want to sue you, they can do that but they wont. Anything beyond this point is for an attorney.
Hi Karen/Lavenderclothesline: I think i follow you on Instagram! Welcome. Great group here to talk real numbers and strategies. WOW! You had an amazing sales week!! You have so many listings – how do you do storage?
T-Statt – Awesome! Would you believe I also just started cross posting to Depop as well??? LOL! I just sold some Doc Martens over there super fast.
I use a pic collage if I need more than 8 pics (free on mobile).
Def start with your heavy winter items (coats, boots, sweatshirts, NWT) and ladies stuff and then back fill from there. And, yes, as long as you are under 5 lbs, you are good to print label!SEPTEMBER Posh Only SALES (after Fees):
$464
17 items
ASP: $27^all items were also on ebay.
INglewood- I track which estate sale companies have the best houses/sales to maximize my time. I tend to pick up more damaged clothing items at estate sales, however. So that has cost me. I def have some honey hole stores I have on a heavier rotation over the blue moon places. I see so many resellers pop in and out and only look in their category (mens jeans for ex), and leave after 5 min onto the next stop. My biz plan is to sell across categories so a stop is never wasted, but I see the appeal of hitting several places fast.
Week of 9/18-24
Items in store: 777
Sold: 24 ebay, 2 Poshmark
Sales: $705 + $60 Poshmark = TOTAL $765
COGS:$89
Highest sale: Free People Sandals: $65
Returns: 0Updates: Continue exploring new sourcing locations. Also, I am forcing myself to find stuff. I drove far today and didn’t “find anything.” I was about to leave, but challenged myself to at least go deeper. I found some ink and an unusual tin, prob about $40 worth. I really wanted to “earn” my time back from driving to this place. I don’t know whether that is strategic or not.
Many people have 1,000+ items in their closet! Lots of sellers seem to get ‘bundles’ where buyer bundles items for discount.
The Poshmark search defaults to “recently shared” much like ebays “Best match.” So it makes your item at top of list. Of course, hot items will always sell.
I cross post items while I am doing ebay. Sometimes I start with Poshmark. I won’t get into the “flow” process, but it takes about 1-2 minute if I do it in the moment with the item in front of me. Maybe less.My philosophy, if I am already going to post office, already measuring item, writing copy and taking photos, already paying storage, already printing labels, already out sourcing. Now that I have Posh, I do pick up some “younger” or trendy items.
I just started using Pirate Ship’s Simple Export Rate International. Pirate Ship is FREE and has already saved me money on USA cubic rates.
I shipped an item first class from USA to Monaco/ France for $15.00. You need sign uo and then send them a chat saying you want to have Simple Export Rate International added to your account. And voila! it imports directly back into ebay’s tracking (you link). This has allowed me to give a cheaper rate to international folks if asked directly on some lower dollar items.
This being said, I also just had a First Class item get lost in France and it was sent back to me (outside GSP). And that sucked. But then I had some jeans make it to Mexico First Class just fine. So…
