Hello,
Not sure if you did this already, but I thought I would share just in case it might be of benefit.
Go to My Account on the left side where your name is. Click on Account Settings. Then click on Site Preferences on the left side. Look in the middle area for Shipping Preferences. Look on the right side and click on Show. Go down to Exclude Shipping Locations from your listings. Look to the right where you will see Edit. Click on Edit. From there you can choose or exclude locations. Make sure to click Apply when you are finished. Any changes and updates will only apply to new listings. If you want them to apply to old listings, you will need to recreate those listings as New in order for your settings to apply. It would be helpful to see a picture of the item.
10/23/2017 at 10:40 pm in reply to: Being Locked Into Cross Promotions When Creating a Sale w/ No Choice for Opt Out #24356If you scroll up on the link from ebay that I attached, you will see the definitions of each type of activity. Based on my conversation today, as I noted earlier, anyone who creates a sale (even if you are using Markdown Manager which has a different format now) by clicking Launch is automatically locked into cross promotional selling. No where in the sale creation process is it identified that that is what you are signing up for. The only way of knowing is by clicking the link that says terms and conditions which is next to the launch button.
“Markdown Manager”: This tool, available to all sellers with active eBay Store subscriptions, allows you to create a sale price for your listing and compare it to your original price.
Markdown Manager
The terms in this Section 3 apply to your use of Markdown Manager, if applicable.
Revising the item price, shipping cost, or both for an item on the Revise My Item page removes the item from a sale.
Most sales are processed within an hour.
Items can be discounted 5% to 75%.In summary (as many of us know), this allows for individual and/or group/category discounts at a rate or value amount determined by the seller. The seller is in complete control of the discount pricing and the shipping and buyers can purchase one or more items and still receive the associated discount for that particular item.
As seen below (taken directly from the link attached), cross-selling does not afford the same control. Ebay takes control and can even assert (as its right) how much shipping will be charged. In addition, you waive your rights and indemnify ebay for anything that may go wrong.
Cross-Selling Functionality (“CSF”): The adjustment of the pricing of your listings when items are offered and sold to buyers as part of a cross-promotional offer. This means that you can offer buyers certain discounts when they buy certain items or a combination of items. The discount can either be a percentage or fixed amount or related to shipping costs. CSF may be available through Promotions Manager and may not be available on all eBay sites. This can be done with or without free shipping.
The “Related Items Offer” feature permits you to associate, based on an item’s stock keeping unit (“SKU”), a limited number of related listings in your inventory, at discounted prices, to the sale of a primary listing in your inventory, where the SKUs of the primary and related items are not identical to one another. For example: a discount of $50 (or a percentage) off of the purchase of a camera lens (a related item) when purchased with a camera (the primary item).
The “Order Size Offer” feature permits you to offer a discount off either all of your inventory, a specific category of your inventory, or a selection of SKUs in your inventory, once your buyer’s order reaches a designated quantity or monetary threshold. For example:
“Save $25 when you buy 3 or more items.” Buyer saves a dollar amount (or, alternatively, a percentage) off his or her order when he or she buys a certain number of items in the same order.
“Save $25 when you spend $100 or more.” Buyer saves a dollar amount (or, alternatively, a percentage) off his or her order when he or she spends a certain amount in the same order.
“Get 1 free when you buy 4 or more.” The price of the lowest-priced item is discounted from your buyer’s order when he or she buys a certain number of items in the same order.Discounts will be applied to each item purchased as part of a cross-promotional offer on a cost-weighted basis, prior to the addition of shipping and handling costs and any applicable taxes, and will be invoiced to buyers within the “Order details” page accordingly.
For example: The discount for a Related Items Offer of $50 off the purchase of a camera lens (a related item regularly priced at $100) when purchased with a camera (a primary item priced individually at $900) would be applied and invoiced as, follows:
Camera’s cost-weighted discount: $50 x ($900/($900+$100)) = $45. The camera’s discounted price would be $900 – $45, or $855.
Camera lens’s cost-weighted discount: $50 x ($100/($900+$100)) = $5. The camera accessory’s discounted price would be $100 – $5, or $95.The discount for an Order Size Offer of “Save $25 when you spend $100 or more” on the purchase of a jacket (otherwise priced individually at $50), a shirt (otherwise priced individually at $30), and a tie (otherwise priced individually at $20) would be applied and invoiced as follows:
Jacket’s cost-weighted discount: $25 x ($50/($50 + $30 + $20)) = $12.50. The jacket’s discounted price would be $50 – $12.50, or $37.50.
Shirt’s cost-weighted discount: $25 x ($30/($50 + $30 + $20)) = $7.50. The shirt’s discounted price would be $30 – $7.50, or $22.50.
Tie’s cost weighted discount: $25 x ($20/($50 + $30 + $20)) = $5. The tie’s discounted price would be $20 – $5, or $15.The discount for an Order Size Offer of “Get 1 free when you buy 4 or more” on the purchase of four video games (otherwise priced individually at $20 each) would be applied and invoiced as follows:
Cost-weighted discount for each video game: $20 x ($20/($20 + $20 + $20 +$20)) = $5. Each game’s discounted price would be $20 – $5, or $15.In this example, the total discount to the buyer would be $20, which equates to the individual undiscounted price of one of the games. However, where the items in this type of Order Size Offer vary in price, the total discount to the buyer would be the undiscounted individual price of the least expensive item in the offer, which would be distributed on a cost-weighted basis to each of the items purchased by the buyer as part of the offer.
All items sold as part of a cross-promotional offer that provide the same shipping service should be grouped together as a single order. eBay may, in the future and in its discretion, limit the amount that sellers may charge for shipping and handling of items when they are sold as part of a cross-promotional offer.
For Related Items Offers, eBay may, in its discretion, choose not to display related listings as part of a Related Items Offer when the related listings do not offer free shipping. For items sold as part of an Order Size Offer, the shipping costs of individual items will be aggregated.
For items purchased as part of a cross-promotional offer, the returns policy specified in each individual listing will apply to the return of each respective item. If your return policy for an item permits returns, the item price that you reimburse your buyer must at a minimum be the cost-weighted discounted price of the returned item. For purchases eligible for refunds under the eBay Money Back Guarantee, eBay will treat the cost-weighted discounted price of an item (including any applicable sales tax) as the “full cost” of that item. In addition, for Order Size Offers where your buyer returns one or more items comprising the order but where the buyer received a “free” item as part of the offer, you must permit your buyer to keep any unreturned items at their cost-weighted discounted prices.Promotions Manager is available for use in creating cross-promotional offers on certain eBay sites only, including eBay.com, eBay.co.uk, and eBay.de. Only live listings created on these eBay sites and in certain categories are eligible for inclusion in cross-promotional offers. eBay may, in its discretion, expand or limit the ability of buyers to redeem cross-promotional offers. For example, only Related Items Offers created with Promotions Manager on eBay.com and consisting of items listed on eBay.com will be available to buyers on eBay.com. Also, only Order Size Offers created with Promotions Manager on eBay.com and consisting of either (a) listings created on eBay.com or (b) listings created on other eBay sites but offering worldwide shipping to buyers on eBay.com will be available to buyers on eBay.com. Buyers must pay with PayPal in order to redeem cross-promotional offers.
eBay retains the sole discretion to decide where on the eBay site cross-promotional offers will be displayed to buyers, if at all, and to explain to buyers, in any manner of its choosing and in any location on the eBay site, what cross-promotional offers are and how they operate. eBay also retains the sole discretion to display or not to display any or all of your inventory as part of a cross-promotional offer, for any reason, with or without notice to you, as well as the discretion to display or promote the inventory of other sellers on any part of the eBay site as it so chooses, including the View Item page for any of your listings.
eBay will have the right, but not the obligation, to change the features or functionality of Promotions Manager at any time in its sole discretion, with or without prior notice.
Hello,
I would call eBay to verify, but no, I do not think you can.
Click on the drop down arrow in the upper left corner where your name appears. Click on Account Settings. Then click on the My Account tab. Scroll down to Payment Methods for Seller Fees. Look at the third option (the second option does not appear to be active). Click on the blue link. It does not appear that using an Ebay gift card is an option.Hello Sonia,
You are right. Basically the main company creates a licensing agreement with another company allowing them to sell their products under the other company’s name. It’s when there is no agreement in place and people try to resell a product and pass it off as their own or without giving due credit that it becomes a problem.Hello,
Just wanted to share that having Ebay sponsor SL in anyway would dramatically alter SL. Anytime corporate gets involved, they want to have a say about what happens and then the spotlight gets put on everyone who participates. In addition, they get put in position to slowly assume control especially if a contract is signed. Strong scrutinization of all stores that have been posted in here would be on the table and at their discretion.
In addition, due to the fact that some of the things discussed in here (especially when one needs to vent or just think a matter through) are not consistent with ebay policy and are about the functionality of ebay as a company it may not be best to have them as a sponsor. The setup of a free exchange of ideas would dramatically change.I would offer that if the buyer should contact you at all in this process identifying other ways they want to resolve this, you may want to first bring it here so experienced sellers can help you navigate or call eBay about any correspondence they may send. You want to be careful not to add too much clutter to this situation which could cause confusion and close it in the buyer’s favor just because there are so many details involved. Sometimes too many details convolute situations so much that decisions are made just to bring the matter to an end.
I agree with Jay. You may want to wait this thing out and let the buyer take the next step.
Something sounds fishy about this situation. I would offer that you check the buyer’s feedback (that given to him and that he gave to other sellers). In addition to the feedback statements, look at what the feedback was for.
Yes. I did a google reverse search.
This is the actual link that came up before I starting clicking on the pictures.
No problem. Let us know what happens.
Just a few thoughts.
1. Since I am not a material expert, you might want to call a dry cleaners and ask if the dress and jacket will be ok to be hand steamed (with a small in home hand steamer) based on their material make up. This may sell better without the wrinkles.
2. You may want to picture it up against a brighter color. Light on light tends to make the items “merge” together. I would offer that if you have a red sheet or piece of material you can hang the items up in front of, it will make them stand out some more.
3. I see one of your tags has the size. You may want to note that in the features and description section.
4. You may want to take pictures of the items being measured. It helps some to see the item with the measuring instrument. This link may be of benefit.
A couple of the pots look very similar to yours. Click on the picture of pot to find out more about the pot.
10/18/2017 at 2:01 am in reply to: Buyer claimed spot on coat, I offered return, she ignores me for a week…. #24055I’d be interested to hear how other more experienced sellers would handle this and what their experience has been, but it is my understanding that you are covered because you have documentation that she altered the item. In addition, I do believe the case for return can be closed because she has probably passed the return deadline.

You could say something like – I am sorry, but now that the item has been altered and the deadline for return has expired, it does not qualify for a return – This will probably prompt her to open a case. I would offer that you not get into a back and forth with the buyer after you have sent the buyer the message rejecting the return.
This ebay link may be of benefit.

Other more experienced sellers might have a different perspective.
You always have the option of calling eBay tomorrow and let them know that you just want to make sure you are following policy before proceeding forward.
Since he is doing this back and forth, I would offer that you take thorough pictures to keep for yourself and have thorough notes (along with any key identifiers) just in case he buys it and then decides to return it. This may protect you just in case the book does not come back in the same condition in which you sold it.
