The shape is not what matters. As has been noted, it is about the weight and dimensions (length, width, height) of the poly and what it becomes once you put the item, any packaging materials used with the item, the tape, the mailing label, and the packaging slip (if you use one) in and on it. If you are new to using polys, I would offer that when doing the listing, you weigh the item inside of the poly and then round up to account for the other packaging materials previously noted. The post office only cares that you paid the expected amount (or more) based on the weight and dimesions. What is important is to keep the shipping as accurate as possible based on the weight and dimensions.
Yes, it is ok in my opinion. You may want to make sure that they are also sealed/wrapped in something else before putting them in the poly in order to protect against water damage if something should happen to the poly in the shipping process.
Here is the postcard as a part of someone’s collection

Here is the link to ebay where the postcard is being sold

On another note, if I recall correctly one of the current or past SL members specializes in postcards. You might want to search the forums.

In dealing with ebay reps, I have learned that sometimes it can take the rep a minute to get the full scope of the situation and give the correct answer for the actual situation verse what they perceive the situation to be. Make sure to stay calm. Listen for the answer to make sure it fits the actual situation. If it does not take into account all if the variables you have shared, calmly repeat the details and facts only without giving your opinion.

You may want to call ebay first before giving the refund.01/06/2018 at 1:36 am in reply to: Buyer requests Ship-To address change AFTER item already mailed #29909I agree with your first instinct which was to let them know that they need to contact the Post Office if they want to make any changes. I do think you may loose seller protection if you redirect the package. You may want to call ebay and give them a heads up just in case the buyer claims that they did not receive the package at the original given address or there is some other issue that arises.
Albee,
The regular price for a medium flat rate box – regardless of weight- is $ 13.60 with $12.40 being the discounted ebay rate. So, you save a $ 1.20. The amount you save will be based on the discount rate you qualify for based on your store and seller status. For example, Top Rated Sellers and Anchor Store Sellers get a higher rate of discount. It is my understanding that in order to use a flat rate box, the box must be able to close flap to flap. The weight does not matter. I just plugged in several weights and the cost for mailing the flat rate medium box did not change.
If you want to figure out the cost of shipping outside of an actual listing, you may want to create a blank listing that you can keep to use when you are trying to figure out shipping calculations. Once inside the blank listing, scroll down and put in a weight. If you are shipping flat rate, the dimensions are not needed to calculate the shipping. If you are mailing something in any other kind of envelope or box that is not flat rate, you will need the dimensions and the location zip code to get an accurate amount. Go up to where it says Calculate Shipping. Click on the blue lettering which is a link. When the shipping calculator window opens, scroll down and make sure the destination is correct (either domestic or international) and click Calculate Shipping. When the window with the services and rates opens, click on Ebay rates. Then scroll down. You will be shown the In-Store Rates and the Ebay rates for all shipping choices.

I wonder if that might be a hand made wood sculpture of a rattle snake?
I would offer that you might want to get 2 or 3 opinions as long as it does not cost you. You may want to see if there is a college art instructor who would be open to looking at it for you. Its a little unconventional, but still an option. In my opinion, you have such a unique piece, once you decide to list it, you may want to start with a high asking price with best offer. Putting it on auction with an amount you are comfortable with may also be an option.
01/02/2018 at 4:46 pm in reply to: How to avoid trademark or counterfeit violations on common brands used items? #29738Wait a minute. Something does not seem right. If you type in Angry Birds in the search bar without even specifying a specific kind of item, you get over 28,000 results. And there are over 7,000 Angry Bird items that have been sold with some having been sold Today!
You mean to tell me that everyone of those sellers is a verified reseller of Anygry Birds products???? I highly doubt it. And if they are not, will ebay be removing multiple other listings for Vero violations? If it was a matter of trademark violation, what did they use to determine your shirt was counterfeit? So, does that mean that everyone else selling Angry Bird products is considered to have a counterfeit product although it has the tags to prove its legitimacy?
I would offer that you get all of your facts and materials together. This would include the listing, the listing number, the pictures, the specific pictures showing the tags verifying what you are selling, the description, and the results you find when you do your own search for other Angry Bird products similar to yours that are being sold on ebay. Have your account up on your computer so you can reference it if needed. Then call ebay as your most professional, calm self and present only the facts of the situation. Once the facts of your particular case/situation have been discussed and flushed out, if they choose not reinstate you, you may want to ask them if they will be pulling down the multiple other listings that are of Angry Bird products. I would offer to remember to stick to just the facts.

Here are three links I found on how to do a drop down menu using WordPress

Just a thought to share,
It might be of benefit to have a drop down link titled something like Other Current Threads/Forums right below the last forum/thread on the side bar titled Latest from The Forum. This would allow a user to simply click on the down arrow and go to the forum/thread of interest.
In addition, I don’t think it always comes to mind to go to the top of the page and click on the main forums headings to see all of the categories, threads, and recency. It would be great if right below the Other Current Threads link at the bottom of Latest from the Forum, the main Forums link was available as a drop down menu that did not require a search. This would allow someone to simply click on the Forums drop down arrow and see it as they would if they clicked on the main link titled Forums currently available on the title bar at the top of the page.
12/31/2017 at 12:06 pm in reply to: New loophole for buyers to get free items – using multiple guest ids #29580I would offer that regardless of what a rep says, when it comes right down to it, if an item can not be scanned and tracked there is no guarantee it will be “received” by the buyer. I think that if a problem arises and a buyer denies receiving an item, ebay will only support that which can be documented and tracked. I do not think ebay will spend much time (if any time at all) backing up a seller if the customer did not request combined shipping and if the buyer denies receiving an unscanned item. Most likely, ebay will put it on you the seller to resolve the issue and will probably consider it “the cost of doing business”.

12/30/2017 at 8:20 pm in reply to: New loophole for buyers to get free items – using multiple guest ids #29565This is definitely a learning opportunity for all of us. Thank you for sharing your experience.
When dealing with PayPal, I would offer to see if they can share with you if the same payment method (credit card) is used for each username. In addition, I would offer that you remain really calm and state only the facts instead of any opinion of the facts. This may help create a smooth follow through.
On another note, I was told by an ebay rep that how you handle negative comments can be an important part of the ebay seller feedback process and overall reputation. On that note, it might be good for you to follow-up on the negative comment with a professional final comment so the buyer’s comment does not linger as representative of you and how you conduct your business. If it would be of benefit to you, would you be willing to share what the buyer’s comment was so we might be able to assist you with a final comment?
You may want to try youtube.com for info on taking out the car parts. These days you can learn just about anything on YouTube.com.
