Ryanne,
Thank you for your response. Just curious how you handle an insurance charge in your listing. Do you include it in your price or do you put it as a handling fee and then explain that it is for insurance?Do you have a picture you could share?
At what dollar value for an item is insurance recommended? Is it just because it is breakable or because it has a certain dollar value attached?
Not sure how to say this, but it looks like the child in the bottom part of the picture has a snake around the neck and is not completely dressed. I think listing this may be crossing a line.
What do you mean by single boots?
As for the boot concept itself, cowboy boots are huge in the Southern states such as Texas. Since they were new, free, and in the dumpster and then you couldn’t find any listed, you could have tested the market. You may have wanted to use the list them and forget method and then considered them as long tail items.
The ended listings can be found by double clicking on MyEbay on the upper right side of the main ebay page. Then toggle over Listings on the left side and go down to Ended or double click on listings to have the full category set open. Look for Ended on the bottom left side. For a more extensive search, according to the ebay website do the following:
Here’s how to find listings that have ended:
Select Advanced next to the Search button at the top of most eBay pages
Enter search terms to describe the item you’re looking for
Under Search including, select Completed listings
You can further narrow your search by selecting additional filter options
Select Search to see the listingsI do not remember the exact number of days it will be there.
01/15/2018 at 4:45 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 343: Our Business = Little Things Every Day #30529Just listened to the podcast and wanted to comment on the caller who identified the buyer who chose to refuse the package as a way of returning it. Refused packages do have a longer post office processing and delivery time span. As for ebay, refusing a package takes the buyer outside of ebay coverage and due to the fact that the seller put it in writing that the buyer was to follow the ebay return process (which the buyer chose not to do) the case will most likely be closed in the seller’s favor. The seller may want to call ebay about this sale. If a negative feedback is given (depending on what is said) the seller can call ebay and ask for it to be removed. If ebay will not remove it, the seller can follow-up with a professional message based on what the buyer has said.
I would like to offer that to make sure you are not signing off on a fraudulent claim, you answer the questions as accurately as possible. If the seller documented something you do not not agree with or do not think is truthful do not sign off on the claim. Would it be possible to share what questions the seller wants you to sign off on?
I would offer not to make his upset yours. I agree with previous statements of refund and move on. After giving the refund, go list 2 high value items. As others noted, deal with the negative feedback only if he posts it. Then reply with a professional statement such as the one noted above stating someone like return accepted and refund given. 100% satisfaction is our goal.
You may want to visit the Nike website to see if there is authenticity information and type into Google- how to know if a Nike shoe is a fake. I just found some good info on Nike.
Yes, that would be alot of work. Ebay has already worked to specialize in inconsistent consistency, so we know the process would not go smoothly. In addition, the holding of any funds may discourage a buyer from shopping and/or making another purchase while waiting to hear if their offer has been accepted which would lead to a loss in sales and FVFs. I was reading up on best offer and saw that it has a 48hr shelf life. Moreover, anything that complicates the buying process would detract from the reputation ebay has been working to build of being highly buyer friendly.

toniwill – I think best offer buyers are not allowed to pay immediately because it gives the seller no time to consider different offers on a particular item. Instead it would just be who paid the fastest. In addition, if a buyer was able to pay just because they made an offer (like they pay on the buy it now price), they would be able to pay whatever amount they are offering instead of having to wait for the seller’s approval/acceptance of the offer.
I would not ignore it. I would offer that you review the ebay and PayPal return policies by clicking the help and contact link on the perspective main pages and then type in returns so you are fully informed in this process. It sounds like the buyer is planning to push this as far as possible so it will be good for you to be fully informed. The ebay return window is 30 days while the PayPal one is 180 days. I would offer that once you have had a chance to review the policies, you contact both ebay (who will probably side with you because the return window has passed)and PayPal ( who will probably side with the buyer because he is claiming there is a defect and he is within the 180 return window) to discuss the matter.
What would be the concern?
Oh, I just looked at it again. I was focused on the Baileys bottle and not the doll sitting next to it. That is a little wierd. Not sure what a doll and balloons would be doing with a Baileys bottle.

There sure do seem to be alot of angry shoppers out there.
Based on what I have learned and read, you did the right thing. She doesn’t realize that a best offer could have been automatically accepted if that was in your settings. Not sure what policy she is reading or as to why she would need a message from the seller to let her know that they are accepting an offer she prompted.
Here is what ebay has about best offers
