J&R,
I had an ah hah moment because of your comments on free return shipping in this week’s podcast. There is actually a double silver lining. 1. Buyers can not file INAD cases against a seller because of free return shipping being offered which then helps sellers protect their accounts from defects caused by buyer’s mistakes/decision making.
2. Free return shipping only means paying for the return shipping and not having to pay for the original shipping as one would have to do with an INAD case.In addition, free returns may bring in more buyers because it addresses one of their concerns before and upon purchasing – what if I don’t like it or it doesn’t fit?
If returns remain low, this could turn out to be a win for sellers eventhough it is technically being forced by ebay.
Jay,
That is helpful to know.
Thank you.Jay,
Do you guys buy insurance to cover risk from selling on ebay or because of the varied businesses you have?
Mike,
I would not get rid of those flip phones any time soon especially if they are working. There is much discussion about going back to flip phones that just make calls due to the extensive disconnection and high level of tracking that occurs with the use of smartphones.
pythonesk,
I found this thread and thought it might be of benefit.
I agree that the older ones may be of value. Some of the low prices you are seeing may be based on the seller not knowing what they have or based on what kind it is. It might be worth untangling them and checking into them.
Here is one more idea before calling ebay.
Create a blank draft.
Click on create listing
Type in blank for the listing title.
Go down to the description area and clear out anything showing in the standard or html tab.
Click save to keep the draft. If ebay programming works as to continue based in the previous one, this should clear any coding.
Now create a new listing as normal and see if there is any html coding.
Hello fellow scavengers/sourcers,
Oops. Auto correct and quick typing errors.
The Goodwill store in Anaheim, CA. is closing on May 18th and moving to another site. The new site will be in Cypress, CA.
Due to the closing, the entire store is 50% off.
Hmm. That might be a program coding thing ebay will have to address on your individual account.
Sounds like another programming issue. Make sure to call ebay and get a reference number for the call in case a defect shows up on your account.
Hello,
There has been a lot discussion about listing.
This forum link may be of benefit.
Wow! The level of programming errors on the ebay platform is astounding. Click on My Ebay in the upper right corner of the main ebay page. Once in Seller’s Hub toggle over Orders. Go down to Awaiting shipment and click. Look in the upper left corner to see what ship date is there.
pythonesk,
Is the html coding coming up when you create a listing or when you revise or sell similar?
Are you using a phone, laptop or PC for listings and are they new or revised/sell similar?
I ask these questions because (based on my understanding) it effects why html code comes up.
If you are creating a new listing, you should not see any coding in the standard or html tabs. The html tab is there for those who wish to “code” their listing.
If you are revising a listing and/or using sell similar, you most likely see code because of what has already been created and coded on the platform.
It appears that ebay has a programming issue in the description section with phone revisions because what used to just appear as text that can be changed now appears as HTML coding which can be very complex to understand much less change.
Katie,
I am sorry to hear of your experience. So, basically, this buyer damaged your item in order to get refunded. This is the exact kind of behavior buyers are being taught is ok due to current policies and practices ebay has in place. -
