Something else on this page bothers me. The package dimensions are shown in reverse order.
A package that is 7x4x3 is shown as 3x4x7. Why’s that?
It gets pretty confusing due to the mix of items that I sell and zone-based first class rates. (Not to mention the small sample count; Not enough sales.)
BUT I am sure that I am receiving the same amounts from buyers this week as last week.
Most of my items are USPS and first class mail. I use calculated shipping and my Shipping Preferences do NOT offer USPS carrier-specific discounts to buyers. So when item weight etc is correct, I usually make a little on the shipping. Plus I have a 25 cent per item handling fee on top of that.
The amount buyers are paying me for first class shipping has not changed from what it was before the Holiday rate increase.
@debitendcredits and @Simon: how do you configure your USPS settings?

First one since managed payments. Have to see how that works out now.
I ordered priority mail supplies 9/8/2020.
The padded flat rate envelopes took the longest to get here, arriving approx 10/15/2020.
And yes the PFRE envelopes are a tad smaller than they were previously.

Yes. Those are old 3G phones.
The cell phone category is known as a tough one on eBay. My phones are pretty much used up but someone may need parts or accessories. They will have to be lotted up and sold As-Is.
There was a time when eBay frowned on selling empty boxes for anything. (Buyers just can’t or won’t read.) Don’t know if that is still the case.

Do the RAZR sales go out of the country? or do you think to collectors or to actual users? It’s probably impossible to port one of these into Verizon wireless these days.
I have 2 seller IDs that are TRS ; one with a Basic store and one with no store. but am not using hardly any promoted listings. If there is a rebate/credit system, maybe I am missing out. or Perhaps I am not qualified?
Can anyone please provide a link as to where the requirements are for $30 per quarter rebate on promoted listing fees?
I use PirateShip.com for occasional packages like your re-shipment. Also for personal shipments.
Plus Pirateship excels if you need to ship a small heavy package since you can select USPS dimensional weight for Priority Mail. These rates are much cheaper than eBay offers for Priority mail.
Pirateship rates for first class packages have the same steep discount that I get on eBay. And Pirateship also offers media mail rates.
Simon:
Glad it worked out for you. Congrats on your superb handling of the situation. Perhaps you already did but you can still report buyer abuse. Get buyer on eBay’s radar & may save one of us other scavengers from another switch-a-roo.
09/23/2020 at 7:09 pm in reply to: Anybody Seeing the New Item Specifics and Some of the Changes #81874Mike: by the way. It seems to me that Sixbit is playing catch-up with eBay item specifics changes so it may help to be up-to-date on that. Also, I was seeing a problem in Sixbit with edits to item specifics for running listings not always propagating back to the inventory item. Not sure if this is fixed or not yet.

Yes, been seeing this for about 60 days now across numerous categories. Must be important eBay, since they are in California.I always put “None” without the quotes. Works every time. The law probably does not apply to re-sellers anyway.
Mike: I don’t ship much international any more. Could be a scam. Perhaps buyer just wants to avoid GSP fees, maybe worse, since buyer probably understands that you are losing GSP protection too.
My thinking is that a person who dickers on the price really wants the item and is not a scammer. Problem is that their dickering may continue thru the shipping process, and even after the item has been delivered.
Perhaps you can get an eBay GSP rep to provide more information?
Your post reads like you are in scam alert mode. Go with your gut on this one.
@temudgin:
I still set up some of my listings as private. When feedback is exchanged nothing shows up except (Private listing). There is no item title or item number shown in feedback.I use this in order to obscure how many items are selling. They are all similar items. This is my defense to deflect copy-cat sellers from selling the same things. And it keeps all that info off my feedback page. You are correct that it is a bit obsolete due to other changes eBay has made over the years.
Sellers sometimes have a need to contact buyers. Nothing malicious here. I really don’t like having all messages scanned by eBay. I usually email ship notifications to my buyers since USPS has slowed lately. Occasionally, I have USPS email tracking updates directly to a buyer.
eBay states that “Your messages will be sent to the email address of the buyer. We scan messages to protect against fraudulent or suspicious activity or violations of eBay’s User Agreement or eBay’s policies.”
Adding an eBay layer may contribute to lost or late messages. And eBay bots are known to be easily offended incorrectly, even triggering account penalties. All this can be bad for business.
Of course, eBay is the big brother. This is not fear. Perhaps I am just set in my ways. If I have a buyer, isn’t that my customer? eBay does not really think so anymore.
