what a great idea! I will try this next time it happens. thanks ebaymom.
Last summer I bought some old knives and since I didn’t notice anything with the smell test, so I just broke down and got some simichrome, and they tested positive for bakelite.
I hate when that happens! But I’m glad you found it in the end. This has happened to me 4-5 times in the last few years, but I’ve always found it in the end. These are one of times I am so happy to have a small house, b/c if it was bigger, it would take me so much longer to search in every spot 3 times until I found the item.

Love it! I may start having to use that term.
T-Satt,
Everything I’ve read over the years says that you can’t take a loss on items you originally bought for personal use. IRS topic 409 explicitly says this:
“Losses from the sale of personal-use property, such as your home or car, aren’t tax deductible.”
But the COGS for personal items you sold cannot be greater than the amount you sold them for – you can’t take a loss on these items. You can only deduct up to the amount they sold for.
01/02/2019 at 12:12 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 392: No Alarm Clocks – We chat with Troy aka T-Satt about the eBay Lifestyle #54350STR = Sell Through Rate = For a particular time period, the percentage of items in your store that you sold. So if you have a store with 500 items and you sold 10 items last week, your sell through rate (STR) for last week is 10/500 = 2%.
A *seller* can be Top Rated, but this doesn’t give you any discount on FVF. A *listing* can be Top Rated Plus if you have 1-day handling and free returns, and this gives you the discount. You can have some listings be Top Rated Plus, and some not.
I have 3-day handling, so I’m just Top Rated with no TR Plus listings. I have no complaints. Perhaps someone who recently adopted TR Plus requirements can chime in.
I will be very interested to see the outcome of your Poshmark experiment, almasty. I have no interest in the sharing/liking work either.
That’s a great outcome, Retro! Yay!
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with sending her a reminder, but personally I don’t think neutral feedbacks are worth spending any time on, unless you have like 10 in a row or something.
I knew I shouldn’t have edited my post! Here it is again, shorter version.
Arabia Finland 12 turkey plates. Purchased for $5, sold for $480.
Norma Kamali sleeping bag coat, purchase for a few dollars, sold for $200.
LAMB (Gwen Stefani) wallet. Purchased for $1, sold for $44.
SAS shoes. Purchased for $2. Sold for $9.99. Glad to be rid of them at last.
Wow – those are really cool finds and sales, Terri!
Thanks for sharing.I hope the buyer continues to stay silent and that the return auto-closes for you.
It’s so nice when what you want to accomplish in the return process is actually automated like this.
