I would definitely call it a lap desk (the original lap top!)
debitendcredits: thank you. Yes, I agree, not plaster and hard to believe it is concrete. It might fit in a large flat rate but not in a medium flat rate. I need to test it but my concern is the weight (50lbs) would break the box.
Steve, Ah, that makes sense: you are a woodworker so you know quality. Anything made by hand always has more life in it because the artist put part of themselves in the piece.
Liz, Agreed! It is the Ikea of vintage items. Not for the avid collector but good enough for those that are looking for a quick fix to their home decor needs.
MyCottage: thank you for the input. That makes sense and raises my own awareness on what to look for out there when scavenging. After two years, I think I am ready to look for more weird and strange than usual and “collectible”.
Thank you Antique Frog!
Yes, I can see pig. Funny looking pig! If this is a pig maybe it is a cross with a puma!
I had to clean it (before the photos) because it was loaded with mud. Apparently it was kept out doors. But I agree with you and that is the only cleaning I am going to do to it.
The funny thing about this “marble” is there is not the typical marble markings. It is pretty smooth white throughout. But it is so heavy, I cannot think what else it be. It does not feel like concrete but could it be?
Steve, I know exactly what you mean but I have to admit, some of it was nice! Not all of it of course, but some of it was very nice.
Thank you Jay!
Thank you Mike!
Hey Mike, NOT offended at all. I have read enough of your posts to know where your heart is.
Jay, yes, I agree, work to move on to other vintage things. I love architectural salvage and found an amazing piece today. No way would you find that in Hoppy Lobby. This son of a gun weighs about 50lbs!
Thank you very much for the input. I have only been selling on Ebay for two years so I am not as savvy as some on vintage items and antiques.
But regarding Hobby Lobby, honestly there was some pretty cool stuff there and yes some of it was very cheaply made and not real wood etc, as you pointed out. But some of it was nice and well made. I mean, Jay and Ryanne shop at Ikea and they admit it openly, so I don’t feel so low class for thinking that Hobby Lobby is cool. (c:
I might have to go there again a few times to check out the merchandise and learn to recognize it out in the “wild” as you said.
Just in case anyone reads this thread, I think I figured out the issue. I noticed that only certain things were effected by this bug. Then I remembered that Ebay said something in the Spring Update. Here it is:
https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/seller-updates/2019-spring/inventory-optimization.html
If don’t fully understand everything they are saying here but it appears related to the issue I have been experiencing.
It looks like they want us to use certain item specifics but at the same time they are not providing those certain item specifics in the listing format….If you are able to make more sense out of this, I would be happy to know what your thoughts are.

It looks like I am not the only one with this issue. I called Ebay again today to check what they are doing to fix this because item specifics are still disappearing — even on old listings, if I edit the listing, many of the item specifics disappear.
If you find you have the same issue, it would not hurt to call Ebay and let them know. It puts more pressure on them to fix the problem (my opinion, of course!)
This is really frustrating. Have not been able to do item specifics today.
The ebay tech said they would refresh my store and report the glitch.
What a pain in the booty! I have not had conditions disappear but I always repeat everything in my description including item specifics. Item specifics are supposed to help with search, I am always careful to add them in.
05/08/2019 at 11:22 am in reply to: Shipping options hidden on some items. I asked Ebay and they said… #61499Update: I referred the Ebay rep to this blog and this thread and showed her our comments. She had some other questions which I answered and I suggested:
ME: Just another suggestion: Right now, Ebay is making shipping choices on behalf of the buyer. Comparing this to Amazon where they give the buyer about 3 or 4 choices on check out of which shipping they prefer.
EBAY REP: I can definitely pass along the feedback. As this is just a test, it’s not a change that you will see 100% of the time. We often times try things out and see what results yield from it. If overall the experience doesn’t appear to be positive, then it’s unlikely for it to be a permanent change. We’re always here to help with anything we can on our end.
