Thanks Inglewood, good to get your feedback.
I am in Los Angeles and our mega super-sized chain thrift stores, of which we have several, are overpriced. I don’t do much in the way of clothing but on hard goods they are a little crazy. I suspect it has to do with their overhead. Huge warehouses in Los Angeles, full of stuff. But you have inspired me to go there again and take a fresh look. It’s been a while since I gave it a go.
Thank you Amatino for taking the time to help me with this. GREATLY appreciated.
I have no exclusions. And I had a similar issue and no matter what I did it would not fix. I finally had two similar items listed that had different exclusions and finally a rep understood me and it was corrected on their end. This was a few weeks ago.
So funny Marjean, my down fall are mugs! That guy that called last week made me laugh when he said he was sick of them. But I do sell them so that it keeps the cycle going and going and going.
We have an area close to down town that has several huge supersize thrift stores. But they are so overpriced. Not the like the good ol’ days.
Thanks for the tips you suggested.
My go to cleaning tool is Magic Erasers or the generic melamine foam.
I can get them on line for cheep but the cheep cheep ones are indeed… cheep and fall part very fast! I have purchased the medium cheep ones and they were much better. The most expensive ones are the Magic Eraser brand and they are the longest lasting.
To save on wasting them I cut the “sponge” into smaller “sponges”. They fall apart after several uses so that way I can make one sponge last much longer.
Sometimes they work on sharpies.
No chemicals needed.
They clean grease, some sticky stuff, markers, and so on. They work on just about most surfaces you just have to test it on items that have paint to make sure the paint does not rub off.
Joe, had to share this win with you!

Welcome! I have been to Cape Breton Island several times and loved it! It must be one of the most beautiful places on the planet, in my opinion.
Yes, that is a well worth it, absolutely!
Clarity, thank you! That is amazingly helpful.
This is all new to me so sometimes it is hard to know if what I am doing is good or a waste of time. So Cal Joe gave me some very helpful tips some weeks ago and I was able to use that information to launch the book sales.
Thanks again and if you are inspired to, feel free to share any other info about best books to list or other tips, I will be watching this thread to see what else there is to learn about this new universe of books.

Clarity, that is amazing! What a windfall.
Do you specialize in a type of book? Or any book is a good book? How many do you have listed? What percentage of the books you have listed sell for you? What books sell the best for you?
I only ask because I have a bunch of more books (several more boxes) to list and I was going through them today to see which are going to the thrift store… it can get a bit overwhelming with so many books and some I don’t even know what they are about.
When I go on Amazon and I see my book listed for $4.00 free shipping and there are 20 of them, I figure why bother.
Whatever you are willing to share is helpful.
Hi Marjean,
Just curious what are the slides of?
I had a very large batch of zoo pictures and flowers so I sold them all at once because I figured there was not much demand for a picture of one elephant or one hippo. And flowers I figure there is an infinite numbers of those.
If you figure the cost of your time and the cost of listing one slide (if you don’t have a large store) you might look into batching them into lots.
I am not an expert on this topic so others may have a different take on this.
I WISH it took me 5-10 minutes per book, I have been working on two car loads on and off for several weeks now. From what I learned from others here, and from what I experienced recently myself, the best books are the most narrow topic books, such as booklets about specific locations and their history, or vintage bibles, etc.
I sold a lot of navy text books, vintage, for 75.00
In my research, I did notice that old vintage books are being sold in lots by color for decor, like green ones, blue and yellow ones, etc. That was new to me.
I personally found that most books with ISBN numbers were mostly a dime a dozen and I did not find them worth listing.
There is a thread here where So Cal Joe was giving me a lot of advise on listing and it was super helpful.
Hope that helps.

And thank you for the acknowledgment on the video I posted. I feel very blessed to know this group and to be able to finally share something useful. For a while I was just asking for help, now I can return the favor occasionally!
