Week of Jun 2 – 8
* Total Items in Store: 1380, eBay, 3 Etsy
* Items Sold: 12 eBay
* Cost of Items Sold: $8.85 + $4 Commission
* Total Sales: $200.43
* Highest Price Sold: $59 Vintage brass andirons
* Average Price Sold: $16.70
* Returns: 0 (1 non-paying buyer)
* Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $31.63
* Number of items listed this week: 20Slow slow. I would have had another $100 sale except for that NPB.
I’ve been not buying much lately. I did go to an auction on Friday, but couldn’t stay for long. I bought a set of silver plate for $20, much more than what I usually pay. I was bidding against one of the owners. When I got home, I looked up the brand – Wellner. It’s a German brand, and the box had close to service for 12. I found a listing for service for 8 that sold for $500! So, not a bad buy after all.
One other thing for this week: I received an eBay email giving me a 25% off selling fees until June 10. So, I created a 25% off sale for items that have been in my inventory for a long time, and I’ve sold about four so far! All small potatoes, but I’m happy to get them out of my basement.
I listed 20 this week.
I’m pretty happy about it due to the non-eBay things going on. My daughter’s prom was Friday, and I took her to the salon for her hair and MAC for makeup and bought her nail polish. Quite a getup for her since she never wears makeup or polish and gets her hair cut only a few times a year.
Next weekend is Hersheypark, and the following week is graduation with family visiting. Then, vacation the week after that.
I think 20 will be my high for the next month or so, but sounds like you guys are going to kick butt on the deathpiles. I’ve slowed down on purchases, but my parents will be giving me stuff when I see them for the graduation.
Amatino – Your bellydancing showcases always amazes me. You are very talented in so many ways. Great photos!
Ladies – I hope your week improves and enjoy your competition! Maybe I can join later in the summer.

Do you have many duplicates, or are they all different?
If you have several molds, all new in packaging, of the same type, then it isn’t a big deal to list them one by one. It reduces the number of listings you have to create.
However, if they are all different, then you should consider selling them in lots.
She is obviously very interested in these items, so that puts you at an advantage. However, if she has a “Martha Stewart” type of business, then she is probably wanting to resell the molds. She might not be interested in giving you a fair deal if she is going to turn around and sell them to her customers. She may not be the type of person you want as your buyer.
Unless something has been sitting in my inventory for a long time, I want to be able to sell to a collector or end-user. I don’t want to sell to a middle-man.
Don’t offer to sell the molds outside of eBay, and you should be OK.
I would give her the prices you would list them at, and then say you will give her a percentage off for a large sale (maybe start at 15-25% off). The idea is to negotiate down, not up. You are in control when you start at a pie in the sky price and come down. She is in control when she gives you a low ball offer, and then you have to bring the price up.

Maybe you can try putting in a weight without dimensions and see if it will spit something out.
06/07/2019 at 8:20 pm in reply to: Should I list brand new items in sealed (but damaged boxes) as "New" or "Used" #63136The best situation is to find out whether eBay gives you a choice for new. I forget exactly the wording, but sometimes it’s “New – Other” or “New with Defect”. If you are able to select one of those, the listing will then have an area similar to the condition statement, and you can put your explanation of the box issue.
You can try different categories – there is probably a toy category under collectables and a category for more modern toys. The collectable category is more likely to offer a “New – Other” selection.
Lastly, yes, you can list them as new since they are sealed, but put “DAMAGED BOX” or something like that in the title. Then also explain the issue in the description.
Go back to the listing and provide the original settings for shipping. Did you give a choice between USPS and FedEx or UPS? Was there a choice of a flat rate envelope? You probably can’t see the setting in the sold listing, so do a “sell similar”, and you will be able to see how it was set up.
You can take those settings and put them into eBay’s shipping calculator to see what it should have charged the customer:

If there is a discrepancy, you should be able to call eBay and get them to credit you the difference.
This handmade doll cradle bed sold for $37. I bought it in an auction lot with some dolls and a few other items. Each item cost about $1.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/183810453613I’ve mentioned this item before, but they’ve just started to sell pretty regularly. A wooden crate from a table lot had pounds of reproduction square nails. I’ve been selling them in an 8 ounces (min 40) bunch for $4.95. The buyer can buy as many bunches as they want and the shipping fee is set at $4.99. I thought that would inspire buyers to order several, but, no, I’ve been selling them one 8 ounce bag at a time. I sold two last week, one so far this week, and several in the past month or so. I started at 20 pounds, so I’ll make about $200 when they’re all sold.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/183677160165I bought an online auction lot for a dollar or two because I wanted something in it for myself. It came with an insulated bag that I decided to donate, but I found 6 NJ beach tags inside. They sold for $26! They are only a few years old, so I’m not sure that they are so collectable. I’m thinking someone plans to sneak on the beach for free if the one of the tag colors is reused this year.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/183764502301Yes, you should be able to show them the certificate, and you won’t have to pay tax. Most auctions will keep that in their system so that you don’t have to carry it around with you all the time.
Why thank-you! Now I don’t have to make that call.
I will need to remain registered in order to keep my tax exemption when I purchase inventory at auctions.
I haven’t created any listings today, so I can’t say. However, I’ve noticed that the condition statement has been disappearing on me for the past several weeks. If I’m editing a listing, I can go back to the listing that hasn’t been edited, copy the condition statement, and then paste it back in. I have to do that before I save the edited file; otherwise, I lose that information. It doesn’t happen on every listing.
Boy, NJ government really doesn’t want to talk to its constituents. I couldn’t find anything but a recorded line on the Dept of Treasury website. I had to use Google to find a phone number. I had to waddle through a recorded menu and wait on hold for about 5 minutes.
The number I called was actually the Dept of Taxation. They told me that I need to file for non-reporting status with the Dept of Revenue. So, now I have to call that department to see what I need to do. I’ll wait until after I pay the 2nd quarter sales tax.
Anyway, GoDaddy uploaded sales tax entries from eBay. I have to call either GoDaddy or eBay to understand why those are appearing in my account. I don’t even see them in eBay.
I just looked at my performance metrics on seller hub, and it is saying that I am down 10.3% compared to last year and that the market is down 8.9%. So, I think you are correct in that it is slow compared to last year. Thankfully, I’m tracking pretty close.
It is also telling me that I am UP 12.9% in the current 31 day period compared to the previous 31 day period and that the market is DOWN greater than 10%. That to me is strange. I didn’t think that I was doing that much better now compared to April/May.
