Not exactly on topic here:
I just happened to tour the Edison and Ford Winter Estates in Ft. Myers, FL today, and I saw this and had to snap a photo:
We were also in the Sterling Hill Mining Museum in Odgensburg, NJ about two weeks ago, and they have their own collection of Edison miner lamps. If you click on the link below and scroll down to the bottom of the page, the photo shows the lamps & batteries at the top of a large storage shelving unit (the cubby holes were used to store miner’s belongings while they were working).
https://www.sterlinghillminingmuseum.org/take-a-tourJay – He was asking about scheduled listings, and, according to your link, scheduled listings are free. I don’t recall eBay announcing that change.

* Number of items listed this week: 5Tough week, but I was getting ready for vacation, so I’ve not been doing much listing. I haven’t had a chance to listen to the podcast yet, but seems pretty interesting from the comments so far.
We took the Auto Train from VA to FL. I have to agree with Jay & Ryanne; it’s not great. I couldn’t get comfortable and didn’t sleep much. The reason to go that way was to bring the car with us.
We have one week in Naples, and then one week at my parent’s house in Palm Beach county. Their friends give them stuff for me to sell, all free, and they have tons of things for me to take back. I’ll pack up the minivan as much as possible and then take it back home using the Auto Train. Because we decided we needed the minivan for business purposes, the cost for the car back and forth is definitely a deduction. Not sure about my ticket, but perhaps I can consider it partially deducible.
My father, who has owned two different businesses, questioned me about how I expense all my costs and seemed impressed that I had everything covered. All he said was that I should be more “generous” with calculating my expenses, so I’m going to take a hard look at my “business costs” for this trip.
I am on vacation and spent the week getting ready. However, I made notes on five items already photographed and was able to list them on the ride down.
We took the Auto Train from VA to FL, same as what Jay & Ryanne did earlier this year. They didn’t like it much, and I have to agree that there are some serious issues with this mode of transportation. None of us could get comfortable, and I really didn’t sleep much. On my mother’s advice, I took a sleeping pill, but it only did so much. However, I really enjoyed the experience of being on a train, specifically, eating dinner and hanging out in the lounge car.
Anyway, put me down for five this week. I will probably be at zero for the next two weeks, but I keep telling myself that I have enough info to list one watch, so who knows.
Cool story, welcome!
So, when the surgeon says “scalpel”, are you the guy that hands it to him and says “scalpel”? Or are you the guy doing the surgery?
Christmas and winter stuff sell all year round. I recall selling some fireplace andirons about a month ago.
A few interesting sales from the past week:
Such a mundane thing like a NOS card file holder can bring in $21. I paid pennies.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/183593697650I bought this oil painting in a live auction for $5.75. I didn’t realize that it was damaged until I looked at it closer, but the artist is somewhat known and the subject is a harness racing horse that set world records in the 70s. With that info, I was able to get $89 for it using make offer to watchers. It was purchased by someone in California, and, with the shipping discount, I made another $10 or so.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/183846010293The buyer was happy with the painting and bought a set of silver plate flatware that I am shipping out today. I paid $7, and it sold for $37.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/183796324827Fish forks are not as plentiful as other flatware, so they sell well when in a set. This set of 12 sold for $19. I paid about $1.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/183796329124Oh boy, I hope that glitch doesn’t occur again. I recall being on vacation last summer and trying to deal with one or two items that sold without photos. I’ll be on vacation soon, and I don’t want to have to deal with anything crazy.
I scanned my account using the website that was recommended last summer:
http://www.isdntek.com/ebaytools/BulkPhotoScanner.htmI used the FastScan option. It reported that I had no listings without photos or with bad photos. So, I’m good at this time.
When I used the program last year, I downloaded the results to an Excel file, and then sorted to find all the listings with no photos. I then went through each one and recovered the photos one way or another.
It could just be associated with the glitches many people have been noticing the last few days. It could be a mistake you made with accidentally copying a few listings. It could be an issue with your account.
If you don’t have that many listings, you could sort by title and then scroll down. See if you have any duplicates. Or, try a few searches on your listings. Search for a few things and see how many of that listing comes up. Use a short version like “pyrex dish” and see what comes up.
In the past, a few people have mentioned that something sold that had already sold, but it was just a one time occurrence.
06/25/2019 at 2:26 pm in reply to: Link within my listing was removed by eBay…anyone know why? #64105I thought that eBay doesn’t allow links to outside websites any more. They started that more than a year ago.
You can still have a link to a YouTube video showing the operation of the unit. There is a way to imbed them.
Thanks! I’ll probably put it for $99 with best offer.
If you don’t mind, I’m gonna borrow this forum post.
Can someone please look this price up for me from Worthpoint (it was listed on the UK ebay site, so it should be in pounds):
https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/franz-porcelain-vase-excellent-278612768I found it on this site for $297:
Franz Collection Violet Vase FZ00561This was given to me by one of my parents’ friends. I was surprised to find that the brand, Franz, is pretty expensive. Even the newer items that are made in China (like the one I have). The thing is that mine has a sticker from Home Goods for $24.99! Of course, I can take the sticker off if it is truly selling for much higher prices. I’m just trying to reconcile the sticker with actual selling prices.
I don’t use the classic shipping page for a single item, but I do use the classic bulk shipping page for multiple items.
Did you have the problem with single or bulk shipping? I use the new shipping page only when I’m shipping a single item. I haven’t had any issues with incorrect charges through the classic bulk shipping page.
Week of Jun 16 – 22

* Number of items listed this week: 3My daughter graduated high school, and we had visitors from out of town. eBay is somewhat on the back-burner. My parents did bring me free stuff from their friends for me to sell. I will get more when I’m at their home in a few weeks.
I listed 3 items.
My daughter’s high school graduation was Thursday, and we’ve had family in town since Wednesday evening.
I’ve never seen such a high discount. I agree that it could be a glitch.
