It is a hand blown art glass vase. This style is similar to Murano glass, made in Italy, but, without stickers or any identification, you can’t really prove it. I have similar items, but I shy away from saying it is Murano when I don’t have proof of manufacturer.
Very pretty, though, and a great find! I love glass items like this, but I find that they sell slowly.
Welcome! Do you sell solar panels and accessories on eBay, or is that your regular job?
I finally did my experiment, and I was not able to print out a label. In the settings menu, my Chromebook could see the label printer, but it didn’t have a driver to use. I went to the Dymo website, and they only have drivers for Windows and Mac. Just for kicks, I downloaded the Windows version, and it wouldn’t open.
So, they information you received is correct, the Chromebook is not compatible with the Dymo. I don’t know if that is true for all label printers.
My dad will be giving me his old iPad when I see him in September, but I wonder whether that would be compatible. If the Dymo website says that they have a driver for the Mac OS, does that include iPads? Actually, does an iPad even have USB ports? My Dymo is an older version without wireless connectivity.
If my iMac were to go down, I can just print off my regular printer and cut and tape like I used to, but it would be nice to have a backup that would use the Dymo.
You are currently paying $60 a month which includes 1000 listings. If you have 100 listings over the allocation and you are paying $0.10 per listing, then you have an extra $10 a month, or a total of $70.
If you have 2000 items, then you have 1000 extra listings per month. You are paying an additional $100 for a total of $160.
Both of those amounts are well below the $300 you would pay for the Anchor store.
You should calculate how many listings you would need for your additional cost to get to $300, and then you have your answer. When you get close to that point, perhaps you would be interested in upgrading a little early to get the larger quarterly eBay supply coupon or Anchor support or other upgrade. I suggest waiting until you get pretty close before you consider that tradeoff.
I currently have a bit over 1400 listings, and I have no interest in going to Anchor for the near term.
I have a Dymo 4XL. I have a Chromebook. I’ve never put the two together since I normally use my desktop. I’m curious whether the two would work, but I’m off right now to an auction. I’ll post here when I get results. Perhaps tonight, but more likely sometime on the weekend.
08/08/2019 at 9:21 pm in reply to: Ebay's latest annoying feature? Overriding item specifics automatically #66090Huh, I’ve never seen them override my specifics, but I have noticed that the software sometimes picks up the wrong information. I’ll just not “accept all” and make sure that the right information gets in there.
I have noticed that the item condition and the condition statement is getting removed occasionally when I go to update a listing or use create similar. Before I save the listing, I go to the listing that still exists and copy the statement and paste it back in.
08/08/2019 at 9:15 pm in reply to: Do you ever tell another Ebay Seller that you found an error in their listing? #66088I’ve had a few listings where I received a correction from another eBayer. I’ve always appreciated the help and thanked them. Some of them seemed kind of tentative; like they thought I would be angry. Their concern must have been based on interactions that they have had with other sellers.
I remember a few. The first one I recall was a newby mistake. I had copied the text from someone’s listing that a plate was a certain manufacturer. I received an email that the plate was indeed a hobnail plate, but not from that company.
In another, I had something that I thought was a mortar & pestle, but I was confused because it had a lid and the end of the pestle had a white stone. Someone informed me that it was a fire starter. The fuel went in the container with the lid. The stone at the end of the “pestle” would then be dipped into the fuel and lit. Then you could reach in the fireplace and start your fire.
I had a new Russian tablecloth, and someone, in not such good English, informed me that it was of very good quality and I had the price too low. It took a while for it to sell, but it did at the higher price.
The last one I remember was where I thought a platter had a picture of an elk, but it was a moose, or the other way around. Funny.
Oh, I thought that the delivery address was incorrect.
Then definitely contact the buyer and ask those questions. You might want to call eBay in this case.
They’ve already paid for your postage, correct? Have they asked you to refund them that money? If they gave you a label and aren’t asking for a refund, then they aren’t saving any money.
If they sent the label via eBay messages, and NOT your email, then eBay will see that the buyer directed you to use it. You should be fine.
If they sent something via email, though, don’t do it!
I have heard of businesses sending labels or asking sellers to use their UPS account, so this isn’t unheard of. To feel better, I suggest you message (via eBay) the buyer back and specifically request that they verify the new address.
Never act on an email message. I’d be OK with a buyer using email if they ask to ship carefully, or I’ve used it as a reminder to pay, etc., but never for a change to a sale in any way, a request for money back, feedback extortion, etc. If something like that happened, you should not respond or just sent an email saying that all messages must be through eBay.
08/08/2019 at 11:57 am in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Clock radio, Microphone, Dual Turntable, Pana-Vue, Zippo wicks, Reel tapes, DVD VCR Combo #66062I continue to sell stuff from my parents’ friends. I visited my parents in July and brought a full minivan back with free things. This is a statue of a pig chef holding a chalk menu board. Sold for $60:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/183900071797I’ve had this art piece for several years. I originally priced it much higher, but have reduced it several times. Bought for $1.50, finally sold at $18.50. I also had another item just as old sell this week.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/183884282680Group of Collectable Automobile magazines, bought for less than $1, sold for $34.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/183287823406Another free item from my parents’ friends, set of under counter lights, sold for $39:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/183905308970A little over a year ago, I asked the forum about two very old framed photos. They are slow sellers because the first one finally sold for $30. Paid about $1.50.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/183284200666Your first link specifically says that they are part of the BSA:
Sea Scouts, BSA is a program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women ages 14 to 20.
I’m sure it is a small organization within the BSA. My son was in the Cub Scouts, but didn’t continue. I’ve never heard of the Sea Scouts.
The uniform on your second link doesn’t show any buttons. They all seem to be pull over shirts. I did see more traditional button down shirts and cap buttons in some of the stores that they linked to. The button down shirts did not have specific Sea Scout buttons.
I don’t see buttons on the Sea Scout uniforms available on eBay. I wonder where they came from. Maybe an adult uniform?
The uniforms are going from about $65 to $100, so I would put the buttons at a lower price. Maybe $100 is too high; maybe $50 OBO?
I have sold some BSA stuff before, both recent and vintage. They do sell, but not at really high prices. I’ve never heard of the sea scout before, so maybe they are a bit more valuable than the regular BSA.
sshh, I snuck in
This week, though, my daughter gets her wisdom teeth pulled (tomorrow) and I’ve got an auction on Friday. I may not be able to get by so quiet this time.
Considering Vintage Lacy’s big lead, I doubt my ninja skills can overcome to win the year.
I purchased the setup that Jay linked to. I actually don’t use the light stand in front because I kept bumping into it and breaking the light bulb. Those light bulbs aren’t cheap to replace!
I just use a TV table for items to sit on and poster board for the background. My basement is full of my inventory, so I don’t have an area to dedicate to photography. I have to set up in my hallway and then move it out of the way.

* Total Sales: $318.46
* Highest Price Sold: $60 Pig Chef Menu statue
* Average Price Sold: $22.75

* Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $0
* Number of items listed this week: 52I am continuing to list stuff I received for free from my parents’ friends, which is maybe 50% of what I am selling. My son is helping with photography and doing a decent job.
So far, most of it is housewares. However, I have bags and bags of clothing. I’m not crazy about going through that stuff, but it has to be done. From what I’m hearing on the forum, I’m wondering if I should be cross-listing this stuff on another site, such as Poshmark. Much of it is not vintage, so I can’t list it all on Etsy.
