Yes, I agree. When I had a summer job during college (let’s just say last century), the company made a bunch of changes during the two months or so I was there. Someone told me that working for a company that pushed down lots of changes was a good thing because that meant they were keeping up with the industry. I suppose the same thing here with eBay, I just wish their changes didn’t come with so many glitches 🙂
The wait for customer service was reduced drastically in the afternoon, so I called. The customer service rep helped me find an alternative method to find “Send Refund” in the item’s specific order details page, and I was able to refund the buyer. However, I do have a glitch on the general orders page in Seller Hub.
I thought that reply to feedback has been around for awhile? Maybe they made it easier to do.

I paid way too much for these empty champagne bottle and ice bucket sets at $20 a set, but I thought that I would get about $60 each. This was way back in the first year of eBay selling, so that is my excuse. They sold for $59 total.

This manual push drill sold for $23, paid about $1. I always look for good deals in tools as they sell very well.

Not sure what is so exciting about these bulbs, but they were given to me by one of my parents’ downsizing friends. He was quite the light bulb hoarder with all the ones he has given me. The buyer bought two sets of two, so four total light bulbs, for $52.

Another set of tools, just rusty hooks. I had to do a little bit of research to find that they are used for moving hay. Paid about $1, sold for $33.

In the same lot as the hay hooks came this set of brushes for a vintage floor cleaner. I wonder if their system still works or if they bought them because they fit something newer? Anyway, sold for $24.

I bought the contents of a bathroom linen closet. I brought everything home and was reaching into a box when I gouged my finger on this “safety” razor. Good thing it sold for $50 so I don’t feel so bad. I did not pay much for the whole lot, so maybe $1.

This was a death pile teapot set that sat for about two years before being listing. The little wooden caps on the lids were unattached, and I kept pushing off the repair. Late last year, I filled the hole with wood filler, but I found that I couldn’t just screw them in. I need to drill. Sometimes when I just can’t get around to doing something, I enlist the help of my husband. Paid maybe $2, sold for $22 the next day.

01/21/2021 at 9:22 pm in reply to: Running an Inventory Report on Active listings by date listed #85313Go to your orders page. There is a “Manage all orders” section, followed by a “Results” section. On the other side of “Results” is “download report”. I think that is what you are looking for.
Yup, happened to me maybe 5 or 6 times over the past month or two.
They won’t charge you to downgrade your subscription if you do it when you are up for renewal. If the benefit is taken away at some time in the future, you won’t be charged to upgrade.
Yes, the USPS seems to have righted itself, although it still isn’t fixed. All of my delayed packages from last year have been delivered. The one Christmas brooch that was purchased on Dec 2 and delivered on Dec 28 has not been returned yet, and I hope it stays that way. I had someone open up a case yesterday asking why they haven’t received their first class package (purchased Jan. 6, opened Jan. 18), and I want to say “You have no idea, this is not late at all”, but I gave my regular answer about delivery issues and pointing them to the USPS tracking site that provides more information.
I’m also wondering about this new business venture of yours. With your helpers for eBay, cleaners for AirBnB, and, eventually, your partners with the coffee shop, you two are becoming more like managers that still do some of the grunt work. Some day, perhaps, you can arrange your businesses to run without you (the topic of last week’s podcast), and then you can be freed up to be globetrotters again.
Anyway, an average week for me:
Week of Jan 10 – 16
Total Items in Store: 1445 eBay, 27 Etsy
Items Sold: 21 eBay
Cost of Items Sold: $24.75 + $33.50 Commission
Total Sales: $438.68 eBay
Highest Price Sold: $51.90 for 4 decorative globe lightbulbs; $50 for 1960 Gillette adjustable safety razor
Average price: $20.89
Returns: 0
Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $0
Number of items listed this week: 21During the summer, I found that many of my delayed packages made it to a NJ sorting facility and sat there for a few days to a week or so before moving again.
During the post Thanksgiving shipping frenzy, I found that most of my packages made it through the NJ sorting facility just fine, but waited somewhere else for days or weeks before showing movement.
This experience seems to be contrary to what I’m seeing on the maps. It shows NJ as one of the worst affected states in December, while the mid-west/west looks a fraction better. So, either their data is wrong or it was just the roll of the die for my experience.
I listed 21 items.
I completed two death piles. One was the one that I finished up from last week, and the other was a pile of stuff that I accumulated in my dining room.
I’ve started on a bag of ties that I’ve had for about a year and a half. The problem is that I have a bin in the garage that I really need to tackle. Even if just to bring it in and clean up the items in it. These are things that require testing and research, so I grabbed an easy to do ties. BUT the ties don’t make much money, while this box of electronics will do much better even in parts/repair condition. I am posting this to keep myself accountable.
Finally, there was also a photograph your setup challenge. Here is mine. It’s in the hallway from the front door to the kitchen, so I have to put it up and take it down as I need it. I’m doing those ties, so the lights are set up high because I am photographing everything against the white poster board. On other occasions, I bend the poster board so that I can photograph an item against a white bottom and background.
Funny. We recently had to purchase a new carafe for our small coffee maker, and I had noticed it defines a cup as 4 oz. We were just making coffee:
I guess a cup of coffee is whatever the company wants to define it; it is different than a measuring cup.
01/15/2021 at 10:01 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 496: Can Your Business Run Without You? #85184I didn’t see a way to do it. I’ve been inputting the information in manually.
I use the bulk shipping tool, so, when there is more than one item purchased from the same buyer, it allows me to combine it under one shipping label. But, yeh, people try things.
