I normally wait in line and get my boxes scanned, but I wasn’t able to get to the post office today during operating hours. You can use the kiosk to have the boxes scanned. Select “other services”, and it is one of the options. Thankfully, the drop boxes were not full. I did get one box stuck (which they will see in the morning), and I had some difficulty using their larger drop box for a bigger box I had. It all worked out in the end.
I sold smaller items Tues/Wed/today. Because it was snowing all day and I had to attend to my part time job, I didn’t make it to the post office. But, this evening it stopped snowing, we shoveled the driveway, and I went and used the kiosk for the first time!
I had something I sold on Tuesday evening that I couldn’t get out Wednesday, and I have two day handling. I saw a note on Facebook that eBay would be lenient because of the weather conditions, but I’m glad I shipped it out.
So, yeh, thanks!

At this point, I’ve sold so much from that auction that I’m almost through claiming COGS. Sold for $39.

I’ve had this vintage book on copyright law for a few years. It was free from an office that was being cleaned out. My friend was helping out to prevent stuff from just being thrown away, so she was offering free office cabinets, chairs, and so on to anyone willing to cart them out. Sold for $36.

This Christofle silver plated set was from an auction lot (live, pre-pandemic), where I’ve already sold some stuff for pretty high prices. I didn’t know that they were a set, but I figured it out from my research. Paid a dollar or two. Sold for $71.

From the photos of the online auction, I could see this red and white blanket; however, I didn’t know that it had cross-stick from 1923, it was made of wool, or that it was double length meant to be folded in half for more warmth. Some MaxSold auctions are well photographed and explained in detail, and then there are the ones that I like. I think I paid $4 for the whole lot and have already sold some items from it. The blanket sold for $69.

This newer, but vintage wool blanket from the same lot, sold for for $25.
02/18/2021 at 10:02 am in reply to: “Text Me Up” scam? Buyers offering full price and then messaging this #86012I do believe that scammers target new eBay accounts. Sorry to hear about your issues, both your old and new accounts.
I did hear this somewhere. I am not sure if it was here or at the post office. However, my PO package drop thingy (I think that IS the technical term for it) can only fit smaller packages. I’m pretty sure the 12x12x8 won’t fit. In addition, many times in the past it was full or close to it, which is part of the reason I decided to wait in line to get them scanned. Of course, the main reason was to make sure my metrics were good on eBay.
Since I usually have at least one package that is pretty large, I haven’t tried it. However, I should keepĀ it in mind. While the day after day pandemic long line at the post office has died down, it would be nice to skip waiting when I have smaller packages.
eh, you’re never used to the weather, at least not me. I hate the cold. I did not miss the changing of the seasons when I moved to LA right out of college. I moved back because I decided I liked my parents.
I agree with Amatino.
However, if you want, you can contact the buyer and ask if he wants to ship the item back. If he responds with ANYTHING that generally asks you to give money back in favor of modifying the feedback, IMMEDIATELY contact eBay and say that the buyer was using feedback extortion to get money back. eBay WILL remove the negative.
If he agrees to return the item, and you refund, then ask politely to consider changing his feedback. There is a way to do that. If not, at least you can comment “I contacted buyer, item returned, money refunded”.
What you do depends on how far you want to go with it.
02/15/2021 at 4:44 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 501: Shout Out To Everyone Who Shows Up and Works #85941To the person asking about shipping rugs, I asked the same question in 2016 (my first year of selling on eBay). Mike from Atlanta was so kind to give me a detailed explanation of the best way to do it, and I’ve been following his instructions since then. I don’t sell many, but I do make some money here and there.
He suggests 8 mil black plastic that you can buy at Home Depot or Lowes. If I remember correctly, I could only find something a little thinner like 5 or 6 mil. I usually wrap it around twice, so it works fine. I still have the same rolls of plastic sheeting and stretch wrap that I purchased after reading his instructions. You can find his discussion here:

Amatino – I really enjoy your sense of humor and writing style. I wouldn’t be surprised if writing was part of your career at one time. I did hear about the snow in Texas. Crazy. In NJ, we’ve had several snow and wintery mix type storms. The past two winters have been very mild. Last year, we didn’t have any snow at all. The one nice thing about this month is that I am starting to do some summer vacation planning!
Anyway, I managed 11 listings this week; mostly linens which take longer (for me).
Nothing that met the challenge. As I mentioned previously, I don’t have any paper stuff in my unlisted inventory.

I’ll find a rod somewhere in the house tonight and try it out. I’ll post photos if it works out well!
02/13/2021 at 6:26 pm in reply to: What is this style of drapes called and how are they used? #85898Balloon shades might be a good key word because I think that would be the general shape.
02/13/2021 at 6:22 pm in reply to: What is this style of drapes called and how are they used? #85896@sonia – Thanks, but I don’t see these as being top and bottom rod curtains. The way that they are shaped – like a trapezoid – would be all hanging on one side and tight on the other. It makes more sense if they were left and right side rods (or strings) so that the hanging part would go down. The ones in your links are rectangular panels.
@jay – The first set of panels have JC Penney tags on them, so I would think they were a standard product. Unless they made customized curtains back in the day?02/13/2021 at 2:11 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 500: Fireworks! Lasers! Weekly Numbers! #85884@lukastreasuretrove – I have bought and sold a David Palombo menorah before. MAKE SURE to use the word BRUTALIST in the title. It will sell fairly quickly.
We were there this summer! I don’t remember anything that looks like your glass piece.
