That was a while ago. I think Scavenger Life is more suited to you anyway.
They invite one youtube guy who talks crap about ebay constantly on his channel. He is just a negative Nelly. Lol. Just imagine, you can get some t-shirts made up with Scavenger Life on them, then whoever is going from the community can wear them too. Hehe.Great idea, they should at least provide a discount. I bet you and Jay could get a free trip, I guess if ebay invites you to speak on a panel they pay for you to come out. Don’t quote me on that!:) I would love to see you two there, you really do have a different business type than most of the really popular youtube sellers. Mostly because you are transparent and truthful. You guys talk about the struggles and the rewards. Many of the youtubers (is that even a word!) just talk about how they make six figures, but then they hide their sales and stores and won’t say how they really make their money. I think Scavenger life is a unique forum/podcast too because it is positive! We can disagree and still have a constructive conversation. Many of the youtube ebayers will get rid of comments of people who disagree with them or ask questions they don’t like. While I agree there are some trolls that need to be shut down they are also deleting comments of people who follow them and by deleting the comments there is no chance for dialogue or a constructive conversation. Sorry for the rant, that has been on my mind for a while. Soooo…. if ebay invited you guys, would you go?
Hey Jay, we are doing the Camino De Santiago. We were wanting to do it this May but put it off to save up a bit more money.
My etsy experiment has really been on hold. I haven’t been adding the store at all, but I want to get back on it. I made the mistake of putting my store on holiday and then forgetting it. So it was shut down for quite a while. I do find that I can sell items for more on etsy, I just need to work on getting a few more things in there. Not a huge money maker but at least something to try. I actually started a poshmark store recently as well, but have only put two items in it. My brain is a bit fried trying to keep it all in order. So I think I will stick to ebay and etsy. Glad you guys had fun in Nashville, it is a cool town for sure.Hi there! My current listing process doing drafts on the computer then finishing with pictures on my phone. I have tried many different ways of doing it and this is what works best for me. I agree, the ebay app is SLOW! It is frustrating how slow it is to upload pictures, but I have not found an easier process.
We do live close so can get down to Vegas pretty cheaply. Heat in July down there will quite literally melt your shoes, so that is the one hindrance. lol
I disagree somewhat. While I think this forum is my number one place for positive conversation, and the podcast my favorite place to learn, I am also willing to listen and learn from others who are doing things completely different from what I am doing. Most ebayers cannot make a living doing ebay alone, most of us have different streams of income. I am hoping to hear about what other people are doing out there, things that are maybe out of my comfort zone.

Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $0Great episode yet again. I can’t imagine shipping 75 items in one day! Ryanne is a rock star for sure. I think having a big store really helps when you are traveling, it turns into passive income.
Had another great week. I have been trying something a bit different, instead of putting items on sale I have been doing promoted listings. I am going to give it a shot for three months and see how it goes. I finally got myself a thermal printer for shipping labels, I cannot believe I waited so long. I love love love it.
Had the issue again where my shipping options where all messed up. I am not sure what is going on but it seems like a glitch on ebays side. So I was unable to list for a couple days. It just magically fixes itself. When I call ebay they seem to not have an answer as to why it happens.
We finally got our tickets for our 5 week pilgrimage to Spain! We are very excited and are really getting our butts into gear to list all we can. Hoping we can come back home and have our trip paid for by ebay. 🙂
Welcome! I would love to learn more about what kind of items you find in Portugal to sell on-line. Hope to see you in the forum!
Someone definitely turned on the crazy button. Most of the specifics have nothing to do with the items I am listing!

Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $385I enjoyed the podcast, hearing a different side of the business is enlightening. Finding out how they keep track of it all was interesting. For me selling on etsy and ebay is a lot to track. I opened a poshmark store and have listed a couple things but I am finding it difficult to keep up with them all.
We had a good week, sold a lot but our average price sold has really dropped. That is directly related to us buying more clothing.
We have struggled to find hardwoods in our area, we used to get car loads of stuff from the auctions but unfortunately they are few and far between anymore. Seems they have all gone online. I don’t mind clothes, they are pretty easy to list and easy to ship.
Our goal is to get our average price back up to 35-50. Our plan is to be very picky on what we buy.We are running out of room for sure, we are going to start looking for another place that offer more room for growth. My husband has thought about renting a small business warehouse but for me I would rather not pay someone else’s rent. Hopefully we can find the home of our dreams soon! Ha.

Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $298We went to Savers this week because they had 50% off clothing and shoes, even half off their prices are ridiculous. We had another good week of selling and listing. I was up to 2000 items but have fallen under that because of sales, no complaints here. Hoping to get too 2500 by the end of the month. We are trying too beef up our store so that when we go on an upcoming trip where we will be gone 5 weeks, we will have a lot to offer buyers. I think having more items in our store gives us the flexibility to travel for longer periods of time and still make sales.
Great episode. Dreaded taxes give me hives for sure. Mark answered a few questions I had regarding taxes. I do our taxes right now but we plan on finding a CPA for next tax season. It is not worth the ulcer. I am a meticulous paper hoarder, which means the CPA’s job should be a breeze.
I am thinking it was around 500 items. I can’t remember for sure. Seems like a long time ago. We are currently storing items in our garage but will run out of room soon. I dream of having a nice shop someday so we can keep everything out of the house. We have contemplated building something on our property but we aren’t sure we want to stay in our current house. We have also contemplated renting an office space near us, that would give us room to store and also some where for me to work out of. I can’t wait for you guys to hit 10,000! I think that would be a befitting accomplishment for your 10 year anniversary. 🙂
Cracker Barrel is our new favorite! We love checking out the decor, which I have seen for sale tags on, and also the food is good. I like that I can eat off the kids menu. Can’t beat that.
I find myself checking out other peoples houses…looking around wondering how much I could sell stuff for. In fact, there are a couple restaurants who decorate with cool vintage items… I wonder if they would mine me taking stuff off the wall. HA

Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $600+We went out of town this weekend and found a good will outlet where we were staying. We ended up going two days and got two cart loads of stuff. We also hit up all the goodwills and other thrift stores, we came home with an expedition full of stuff to list. I have been focusing on clothes for now but did find some great hard goods as well.
Congratulations to Ryanne and Jay for 10 years of selling. That deserves a celebratory drink! I have been following you all for quite some time now and have found you to be an inspiration. Being a part of the “scavenger life” forums has really been great for my business and my sanity. I can’t wait to see what the next 10 years bring for you guys. We hope to make it over you your neck of the woods soon to check out your awesome rentals!
