Hey Jay, it is not an exclusive deal at all. I am small fish and they won’t waste too much time and energy on me. I found a place I could do small orders of 24 items minimum. Because of the price we decided to get 60 items in total to sell. It is only a test at this point. Hopefully the items will sell and we can order more in the future.

We have found it to be a good use of our time. Almost all of our inventory is used goods or goods sourced from thrift stores or estate sales. We have been wanting to branch out a bit to try to diversify our business. We find the classes offered at the ASD shows to be informative as well. We actually put in our first wholesale order, I am thinking we will be selling it exclusively on Poshmark. So we will see how that goes. Have you been?Total Items in Store: 1916 (301 on Poshmark)

Number of items listed this week: 90We were gone most of the week at the ASD show in Vegas. It was a pretty slow week, without a few high priced sales it would have been grim. While in Vegas I was able to work on listing on Posh Mark. So far in five weeks I have made $575 on Poshmark, so I think I will continue working on it for now.
Great conversation about recession. Thankfully we live our lives pretty frugally, but could do better for sure.
We have only been hitting our local goodwill when they have half off days, we just can’t afford it otherwise. While there I really have noticed a TON of scavengers. I really like seeing kids my kids’ age out there, but I don’t really like the competition. HA!
Congratulation on your 10,000 feedback, while it my not help the algorithm it does show what an amazing job you are both doing. Thanks again for creating this amazing community for us all to be involved in. It is a great place to come and learn in a positive environment.I have the J-200 Jiffy Steamer a couple months ago. It was a splurge for me but it is worth it. It is at least twice as fast as my old steamer. You can also put a solution in the water to help with the smell of clothes, I have a really sensitive nose so I haven’t tried any of them. I generally don’t wash clothes unless there is a stain that needs to be taken care of. If I were to get an item for myself at the thrift store or off ebay I would always wash before I wear, I assume most people who are buying from me are doing the same. 🙂
ps. I got my steamer on sale on overstock and was able to stack a coupon.

Regarding Poshmark, I started taking pictures in square mode for Ebay then it is easily cross posted into Poshmark. For items I already have listed on ebay I will just do screen shots. I only use my laptop to post on Poshmark, the phone takes too long. Poshmark is much easier to list, in my opinion. But the sharing, liking, etc can be exhausting. I have decided to take 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening to list, share, and like. I spend the rest of the day focusing on ebay. We will see how it goes. I had my worst month last month, it was horrible. But the last couple days have been crazy… seems like ebay turned my store on (hahaha). Hopefully it keeps going.All of our local auctions have moved online. I have found some awesome things but they came at a cost. We are keeping our ears and eyes open to different opportunities. Once the weather gets a little better in our area I think we will be able to travel to some auctions.
Thanks Jay. We are staying put for now. Trying to figure out what we want to do when we grow up. We are hoping to ramp up our ebay business but I have had a hard time finding hard goods to sell in this area, at least in our price range. We are mostly just finding clothes. We are also trying to expand our skills and try to find something we can do remotely, that would give us the ability to move somewhere else or even RV around the states. 🙂 We can’t wait to see your progress on your new apartment.

I was laid up in bed for a week or so and decided to try my hand at Poshmark. I was able to list about 100 items and will keep adding to it if I keep selling. I really like how easy it is to list on Poshmark.
We hit our local goodwill for 1/2 price day. We were able to get some great items. We went to another local thrift store as well and we decided they have lost their minds. There prices are just crazy. For example they had some shoes, Walmart brand, non leather for $14. That is may be more expensive than buying them new. UGI have also noticed about 30 items that have missing pictures…. so I will be spending time this week fixing those items.
Your detailed and in-depth story really helps others. I think it is good to share our victories as well as our missteps. We all have them in our business and our personal life, the key is to learn from our mistakes. I am happy to hear you are still working on making your ebay store a success. Thank you for sharing!

Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $0I was a bit late listening to the podcast this week but it was a good one. We had a great week, one of the best in a long time. I put my store on sale, 20% off all items. I did single out a few items and put them at 50% off, just trying to get rid of some stuff I have had for a while. I am still making money off of these items, just not my dream ROI.
We are continuing to sell some big furniture items on craigslist. I really dislike craigslist and having to deal with people in person, but it must be done. 🙂Great episode! I can not wait to see what comes of your adventure with your building. I hope you will continue to share in the future. We have enjoyed watching our downtown area bring in new business, it is coming to life.

Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $118I have done very little in the way of listing, just letting the store be on autopilot.
We have been trying to get things around the house put on Craigslist, at least the bigger items. We sold my beautiful cherry wood desk for $700. It was big and bulky and we needed something else. I found a nice adjustable table that I love!We had a great time. We started in France and went across the northern part of Spain. We went a little over 500 miles. You can check out our instagram account @travel.experiment , we posted each day. We set up the instagram for family and friends to see our progression. We came home to a ton of stuff to ship. I think being away from my ebay store for that long really gives me confidence that we can leave on extended vacations and keep our ebay store going without issue.
I am now bingeing on past Scavenger episodes. 🙂Great episode. We were gone for about 6 weeks, we had our store on vacation mode with a 30 day handling time. It was great to come back and have a ton of stuff to mail out, it essentially paid for some of our trip. It really helped having a large store. We did have some people cancel but not too many. I also have been working on business policies, I am having to do a lot of clean up but think that once it is all set it will be wonderful.
When we were in Madrid we saw a lot of those electric scooters around, I loved the smile on peoples faces when they were on them.
