Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $180We had a great week of selling and listing. We are focusing on clothes at the moment, our local auctions where we get our piles of hard goods has really dried up. So we are trying our had at clothes. Hoping for warmer weather so we can hit the yard sales and estate sales.
I was laughing at Jay and Ryanne talking about the entitled people at the auctions. We defiantly have those people here and I always get a kick out of out bidding them, but we run into paying to much for pride for sure.
Awesome bag. Filson is a sought after brand here in the United States. I once sold a vintage coat for $450. This is a pretty unique item, hopefully you will find a good price to put on it. Good luck! Please let us know what comes of it.
Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History is always a good time, the podcast range from 3 to 6 hours.

True Crime Garage (I love true crime, these guys do a not so bad job)
Last Podcast on the Left (These guys are a riot, I have to be in the right mood to deal with their shenanigans. They talk about true crime and paranormal stuff with a dark comedy twist)Youtube is a black hole, sometimes I will just listen to some ebayers just to see their haul or what sold videos. I try to stay away from negative and annoying people, and also those who seem to be “false advertiser”. A couple I started following is Side Hustle Pros, they are pretty easy to listen to and are realistic about what they are doing.
Ryanne and Jay are defiantly the best in the business.
I am on a Mac and using safari. I went to try to list today and all of my shipping options are back! So strange, I tried everything yesterday. Not sure what was going on, hope it doesn’t happen again.
My husband and I definitely start seeing the same people, we see them at thrift stores and estate sales. There are a few that are sketchy and very rude. They like to try to get into our personal space. There was a guy who came and introduced himself to me, said he likes to know who is competition is. At an estate sale he offered to help me carry things to my car because, of course, I was trying to buy the place out.
Competition is healthy, it certainly helps us get out of bed earlier to get to the estate sales and thrift stores when they open.02/26/2018 at 9:25 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 348: Acknowledge When Hard Work Pays Off #33856I am catching up on my scavenger life podcast so I am a bit late tot he conversation. I laughed when Jay and Ryanne were discussing turning the store on and off, my husband and I joke about that all the time. If only there was a way to get in ebays good graces all the time! But as Ryanne and Jay say… just keep listing. Also, I hope you guys have fun in Nashville, we were there a few months ago for the WordPress conference. We tried to find some places to go thrifting but didn’t find much within the area were were staying. We did make it to the Antique Archeology store, it is Mike’s from American Pickers store. You should check it out.
AHHHH. I totally forgot about business handling time. Awesome! Thanks Ryanne, I knew you would have a quick answer for me.
Yes, I am a top rated seller. It is only a little over a dollar each shipment but I have sent out three today. The rep from eBay did say she was going to send a inquiry request to the shipping specialist to see if there was something else going on.
I spoke to eBay a little bit ago and they basically said that the buyer probably paid for Fed Ex ground shipping, even though that is not even an option in my shipping screen. I also told her I cannot choose ground or home delivery, eBay adds them on one line of the shipping options. Smart post has generally been cheaper in the past but is now more expensive. Basically eBay just said I can ask the buyer for the extra money. HA! I told her that doesn’t seem like a very good business policy. Sigh. I will attach a screen shot, maybe it is an error on my part.
Ryanne, How did you add your picture to the post?https://i.imgur.com/Dvwcgzu.png

Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $78We had a great week. Went away for four days and came back with 27 items to ship. What a back breaker! I was joking with my husband that the Cassini Gods were smiling down on us. Seemed like the store was turned on full blast.
Thanks for the info Tara, after reading some of your comments I decided to go ahead and try a few items on Etsy. I figured I will stick with my nicer items, maybe those vintage items that have a lot of watchers. Fingers crossed!
Welcome to the forum! Jollz it would be great to see some of your creations. My husband and I have thought of doing that but not sure of how profitable it would be. Are there certain items you guys restore as opposed to others?
JAY, when we went to pick up our kids at college at the end of the year last year I wanted to dumpster dive soooo badly. There were mega garbage cans filled way over the top. One was just boxes! I couldn’t believe what people threw away. We weren’t able to grab anything because our car was full to the brim… and our college kids were begging us to not. Lol.
Edgar and I have trolled the garbage bins behind stores but we are a little hesitant to pull the trigger and get out of our car. Would it be considered stealing?? Or is it fair game?11/01/2017 at 9:30 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 332: Share Your Extreme Scavenging Confession #24758After listening to your caller who ended items and then did a sell similar, I thought I would give it a try. I am doing a test on just hats. I figured one category would be easier to track.
Regarding auctions on eBay: I decided to try doing a couple auctions starting at 99 cents and they both turned out well. One I did was a pair of antique bisque dolls. I did several hours worth of research, more then I am willing to admit, and was not able to come up with a marker. I decided to take a risk and start the auction at 99cents. I got the dolls in a huge lot so they probably cost me about $1. They ended up selling for over $300 to someone overseas! I was very excited.
Go Scavenger Life Team!! Let’s put our heads down and list, list, list. 🙂
Thanks for the great conversation about traveling light. Edgar and I have been doing that for a while but we both know we can do better. We are planning to do the Camino De Santiago next fall and I am hoping to keep my backpack under 15 pounds. The walk is about 26-30 days of walking 20ish miles a day, so packing light is critical. Ryanne I hope you do a video, I think it would be a great “how to”.
