Jay and Ryanne have spoiled me. All other podcasts I have found seem like people who have NO IDEA what they are doing. I spend the whole podcast yelling at my phone, or they spend a half hour talking about what they bought….not what they sold. Ugh
What do other people listen to? I often re-listen to old scavenger life podcasts while working. But I’ve heard them all so many times now. Lol

terminal99 – not as good to just listen to as you kind of have to watch the video. However, Will who you may remember R and J interviewed, is as knowledgeable as anyone for sure. He goes less into the business side of things but he does somewhat – which is helpful for sure. Old school and fun to watch.
craigslisthunter – guy is a bonafide legend among the people that are into his podcast. He has a very different business model than R&J and most of the people who post here – it takes a higher capital requirement and his costs are higher. But now is a really interesting time to check out his channel b/c he just started a store from scratch meant to show people that the business is possible for smaller folks and its interesting to see even if you have been selling a long time. Guy just loves the business and is the absolute best at what he does.
Personally, when i first started getting into these types of things i always thought craiglisthunter was the best podcast and model – so i definitely recommend it. Then I listened to (i think all) of SL – you are not going to find another one : ) I don’t even think R & J realize how good their stuff is. But definitely check out CLH — it is a different model. High sell through, high returns, high capital requirement. (second best business model, first is low capital requirement and high return which SL helped me learn.)

I’ve recommended this podcast to a few ebayers I’ve had a conversation with and they all say they hate eBay seller podcasts.
Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it, this great site and podcast get overlooked because of all the garbage that’s available out there.

There is a surprising amount of drama in the online reseller podcast/youtube world. It’s reminiscent of 7th grade mean girls shenanigans and the 1980s-90s east coast/west coast hip-hop feuds. I stick with Jay & Ryanne almost exclusively but recently there is a semi-famous comic Kristina Wong who has ventured into reselling and has posted a few haul videos on youtube which are kind of hilarious. She fully admits that she doesn’t know what she’s doing and she is falling into a hoarding trap. Her language is rough and she does refer to thrifted items as garbage so don’t watch if that bothers you. No reselling tips, but I’ve been entertained. She’s on Youtube under her name Kristina Wong.

I’ve tried a few and they are all either garbage or inconsistent at posting. I have no desire to watch youtube vids as my podcasting is limited to work commute time and my daily 15 minute walks. Scavengerlife is the only reselling podcast I currently listen to. It is refreshing to listen to real people in Jay and Ryanne who aren’t blowing hot air and/or trying to get me to buy something.

I have yet to find a podcast anywhere near as good as Scavenger Life. I’ve looked for years. Not even close. There are a few Youtube channels that I follow and you can glean some knowledge from them but I subscribe mostly just to find new items to sell that I hadn’t thought of. Craigslisthunter, Hart Pickers (very long videos usually), Dorky Thrifters, The Potter’s Pickers etc.
If you want to go through the Youtube reselling rabbit hole be prepared to find a lot of misinformation and a smidge of negativity. Just watch a video or two from someone and stick with it if you find something useful.
As for podcasts to listen to while listing. I’ve gone through SL twice and it’s interesting to listen to them back when it was Mikey and Wendy with them. I’m definitely keeping tabs on this post in case something comes up though.

Tough for sure to find a good podcast. I listen to Thriftycast occasionally but it’s kind of by passionate quirky vintage collectors, rather than resellers focusing on the business end.
You have to watch the screen but I do still like The Paper Castle and Karen Leabo. The Paper Castle is storyteller haul style but I love how she follows up with banner insertions saying how much she ended up getting for most of the items. Her estimates are pretty accurate. Karen is amazing at describing vintage jewelry, hard goods, knives, and textiles. I try to absorb her descriptive terms as much as possible. She also follows up with sale price banners and Etsy sales videos.

I would offer that since diversification and being flexible in skill, knowledge base, and practice are key components to long term success in ecommerce, it may be good to look for videos that focus on ecommerce (online business as a practice), marketing, and/or key business skills and/or practices. As has been clearly delineated here in SL and by J & R, being ready for other opportunities and the ebb and flow of business will bring stability, longevity, possibility, and opportunity.

I agree that Craigslisthunter and ScavengerLife are the 2 that are awesome.
I also listen to ScavengerLife in my car to/from work.
Craigslisthunter you need to see the video – plain audio of Craigslisthunter doesn’t cut it.
I unjoined all the Facebook ebay groups that are packed with MISinformation and arguments – really a waste of time.
Don’t forget that you can subscribe to ScavengerLife on your smartphones and you can watch Craigslisthunt and any other youTube video on your TV with a Roku box, or a smart TV, Apple TV etc

I will say I watch 10konthebay occasionally. Now that he has some experience under his belt and has entered reality (lol), there is some good information there on constantly improving and increasing efficiency. They keep a pretty positive vibe there on helping each other improve.

I agree with AdventureE on more diversification. I am a true podcast junkie, and listen to podcasts 5-8 hours per day while working. Some are reselling related (J&R are the best true Podcasters in this space), but others are business or entrepreneur related. At a fairly quick point, you get about 80% of the reselling knowledge you need, and then after that, you only get one or two new nuggets that you didn’t know. By expanding out to other areas, I feel like I’m strengthening the overall mindset you need to work in your business. My current podcast library:
Scavenger Life
EBay Radio (waaaay too long, but I usually get a nugget or two)
eCommerce Momentum
BiggerPockets
Rich Dad Radio Show
Shampoo & Booze 🙂
Stansberry Invester Hour
The Gary Vee Audio Experience
The James Altucher Show
The Tim Ferriss ShowNon-Business Related
Flatirons Community Church (our church)
Southland Christian Church
Meat Eater
The Pete & Sebastian Show

Occasionally, I’ll listen to the Afford Anything podcast, which is investment / entrepreneurial related. I know about her because she interviewed J & R about a year ago!

I tried to listen to Afford Anything, and I did listen to the J&R one, but her delivery is so breathy and gaspy it’s hard to handle. I love SL and Shampoo & Booze (please don’t stop making them). The other Airbnb one (Get Paid for Your Pad) I don’t like. Yes, I’ve been spoiled by J&R!
Craigslist Hunter is very interesting although once in a while he posts such a long boring video (in his shop) that I’m reluctant to watch sometimes. (Is he Russian?) If it’s more than 10 or 15 minutes I’m skipping it. I like my youtubes to be packed with goodies and as little fluff as possible. Our favorite is Nomadic Fanatic which is about a guy who lives in his motorhome with his cat. Also, CheapRVLiving which is about vandwellers and how to live comfortably in a small space on wheels.

TheHorseTrader is a Texas reseller fairly active on r/Flipping, who does it for a living & specializes in industrial type stuff (but not exclusively). He has a YT channel, if you search his name you’ll find it. Not a ton of videos but lots of good info.

I have to admit, Jay and Ryanne are my favorite and my Monday morning go to. I think they have had some great discussions and guests that have lead me down the rabbit hole of Financial Independence especially after J. L. Collins interview.
So now I listen to entrepreneurial podcasts and scavenger life, I haven’t found another ebay themed podcast besides ebay radio, I can tolerate.
Here’s what’s on my phone queue:
Scavenger Life
Choose FI
Pod Save America (to help with political anxiety, sorry cat’s out of the bag)
How I Built This
Tim Ferris
Merch Minds Podcast (for Merch by Amazon stuff)
Planet Money
Radio Lab (pure entertainment and education) -

My Favorites:
Anything by Gimlet Media, i.e. Startup, Every Little Thing, Crimetown.
Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast
Penn’s Sunday School
Something About the Beatles
99% InvisibleI’m going to give Riki Lindhome a listen; thanks KatieScott!

Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History is always a good time, the podcast range from 3 to 6 hours.
Wait Wait….DOn’t tell me
Ask me another
Hidden Brain
Serial
This American Life
Pod Save America
True Crime Garage (I love true crime, these guys do a not so bad job)
Last Podcast on the Left (These guys are a riot, I have to be in the right mood to deal with their shenanigans. They talk about true crime and paranormal stuff with a dark comedy twist)Youtube is a black hole, sometimes I will just listen to some ebayers just to see their haul or what sold videos. I try to stay away from negative and annoying people, and also those who seem to be “false advertiser”. A couple I started following is Side Hustle Pros, they are pretty easy to listen to and are realistic about what they are doing.
Ryanne and Jay are defiantly the best in the business.
