I just listed my 2000th item, well that is how many items I have in my store at least. 🙂 With that said I wonder how many items other people have in their stores and what their listing goal is for the month. I now have 2000 items and am hoping, fingers crossed, that I can get to 2500 by the end of the month. How about you?

Big congrats. I remember talking to you guys a two years ago when you were considering going full time. How many items did you have back then? Where are you storing everything?

I am thinking it was around 500 items. I can’t remember for sure. Seems like a long time ago. We are currently storing items in our garage but will run out of room soon. I dream of having a nice shop someday so we can keep everything out of the house. We have contemplated building something on our property but we aren’t sure we want to stay in our current house. We have also contemplated renting an office space near us, that would give us room to store and also some where for me to work out of. I can’t wait for you guys to hit 10,000! I think that would be a befitting accomplishment for your 10 year anniversary. 🙂

Buy yourself a large enclosed trailer. at 8′ wide, you could put racks along the walls and back. It will hold ALOT of inventory and is completely portable.
I paid $1900 for a v nose 14′ enclosed trailer. I’m very happy with it.

I feel we’re at a good place with 6000 items. If we grow more, it’ll happen organically. We like the amount of time we put into eBay at the present moment.
If you guys want to keep growing, you should definitely figure out the long term game plan. If you’re going to move, I’d do it sooner than later because as you grow your inventory, it’ll be that much harder to move. Be a pain to rebuild the store and an inventory system.

I am at 535 items in my store. I try not to set listing number goals because I feel like I am competing against myself when I get a lot of good sales. I just try to get everything listed that I bought over the weekend. Wow! 2000 items that is awesome!

Yes, that’s one of my main goals as well. Don’t always get there, but doing pretty well recently. Do not have a store size goal, and have a preference for keeping it small.

It’s been discussed here before, but give equal attention to getting your Sell through rate to grow as well. I think we’d all prefer to stay inventory neutral by listing 100 things a week AND selling 100 things a week.

I have been a hobby eBay seller for the last 2 years and am taking early retirement starting in July. I have been building up a death pile as I go to estate sales and thrift stores in anticipation of having much more free time.
At the moment, I am working harder than ever at my job and I come home from work without much energy to list. Right now I have 114 items and I want to have 1000 items by the end of 2018. Today, I find that I need goals that address my present limited time/energy for listing. So here goes (don’t laugh):
(1) I want to list 14 items per week between now and end of June.
(2) This weekend, I will get a photographing ‘studio’ set up in my basement so that I have more control over light (natural light changes drastically in my present shooting room).
(3) By end of June, I will adopt accounting and inventory techniques that capture COGS and assure my store can be scaled 10x. -

I have about 300 listings at the moment, goal is to list at least $1000 worth of stuff a week (my sales goal is $500 so that implies growth). I think I’ll hit that goal this week although the past two I’ve been living off the seed corn.

For us, we are looking to start listing 150-200 items per week. Most of our goals stem from that, so we are focusing on getting a process that will achieve that level of listing, while keeping the quality of our sourcing at the level it is at.
After that, then we look at other rungs of the ladder…

I’m hovering just over the 500-mark. I made it up to 530 about 4 times now, but then sell back down as I don’t get to list as much as I’d like. My goal is to slowly get all the other tasks off my TDL to free up more time for listing, to clear my horrendous Death Piles so that I can go shopping, and to earn enough to pay off our Line of Credit and buy me a 20ft Connex as my new storage area. Then I shall move all my storage items into the Connex, and take over the shed as my “office/photo booth/packing area”.
My listing and selling goals for this year are the same: to have 1,000 items in my store and make $1,000 profit each month.

My goal is to increase the number of times per week that I sit down to list and focus on EBay. Eventually getting a few listings done most mornings before everyone wakes would be great to keep my small store active. Lousy time to take photos though.

Past week, I built my light stands, cleaned up my work space, listed 15 items and sold 2. I am glad I took a few minutes to jot down some goals. Thanks for starting this thread.

My Goal this year has been to figure out the best balance between my job, eBay, and personal time.
I’ve been trying to keep a $2000 sales per month number but cutdown on the number of low margin items. So far it has been good – I haven’t hit the $2000 mark yet but should just exceed it this month (had a good first few weeks to April). However, the amount of free time has been good – the challenge has been finding enough high-profit items.
I’m spending about half the time I use to on eBay tasks by buying/listing less, but also getting efficient in what I buy and list, and how I ship things. Even though I spend half the time, I’m making about 80% of what I did when I would sell $10 items with low profit.

Listing on another tab in Chrome. I currently have 2447 listings. My goal is to have 3400 so I can upgrade to an anchor store. The end goal is 10000. Not sure where I am going to put that though.
Make that 2448..
