Yes, this has happened to us. Its like butt dialing. And twice, buyers have said they didn’t purchase an item. I always think, well your spouse probably did, or your kid probably did. Anyway, if they notify us fast enough then we cancel the sale. I’ve got a return pending right now on one of these butt buys.
There is a guy on youtube who is very knowledgeable about antique glassware. Maybe you could message him? Look up Old Curiosity Shop on youtube.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/112808204896They do eat pancakes in the UK, but don’t use our type of syrup. They do lemon juice + powdered sugar (aka icing sugar).
Kippers, oh my gosh! I had them once in the UK and I thought I’d never get the smell out of my nose. I love a good ole English fry up, aka Full English and have enjoyed many of them over the years. If I was independently wealthy I’d spend several months per year in the UK.
You haven’t lived until you’ve eaten the black goo called laver bread that comes with a Welsh fry up!
Along the same lines is people claiming that they never bought an item. I don’t know if people are sitting on their phones and butt buying or what. We sold an item last week and the buyer messaged me saying she doesn’t know how it happened, but that’s the second time it has happened to her. I sure hope she doesn’t expect her shipping to be refunded.
Ryanne – Who was paying for shipping (both ways) on that?
Regarding advertisements in magazines… if it is a 50 year old magazine I can’t imagine that would be breaking the rules. We have sold some very old magazines.
The rep I got on the phone last weekend was American and when I expressed my surprise she said that ebay got so many complaints about the thick accented cs reps that they are hiring more Americans. Yay!
Sad to hear of all these scams that sellers are experiencing. (Jay & Ryanne – it’s some sort of miracle that you haven’t experienced one of these yet. I hope you never do.) I agree that the answer is to fight and make a stink! I’m the one who sold that $250 Bosch dryer part and had a different (non-working) one returned to me. All the details are in the customer issues forum. At the time I made a huge stink, including filing a report with mail fraud, and eventually ebay did make me whole. Yes, there was a lot of angst involved. Not sure if this will work anymore since it sounds like ebay is changing a lot of rules lately.
Thanks Habnab. I googled “no wives ranch” and got no hits… really!
p.s. I did google the no wives ranch but came up with nothing.
Did they mention that many of us are not getting Sold emails? I hope they fix that ASAP.
Jimi – Go on facebook and search for Ebay for Business, and like/join the group. Then message them about the problem. When I did this they offered, right away, to refund me for the month.
